I’m traveling to visit family in Raleigh, NC this month (driving) and wonder if anyone here has some good suggestions what to see in western West Virginia & western Virginia. We like historical sites, scenery & interesting little towns.

You could go to the Blennerhasset (sp) island near Parkersburg, WV. It was the home of Aaron Burr and it’s quite a tourist site.

Or, if your tastes go to the strange, you could drive through Point Pleasant, home of the Moth Man, yep, the one the movie with Richard Gere was made about.

I posted that a few threads back. It made me sick. How far have we fallen..different animals and ethnic group but the same message..they are sub-human..it’s OK to kill them. Is this part of Ari’s media blitz?

That is some pretty sushi. I tried it tonite for the first time and it does nothing for me. I was thinking it would have look pretty if they dyed the rice with food coloring.

When we were kids, on rainy days my mom used to give us baggies full of raw rice and we’d add drops of dye to it and shake the bag. Then we’d draw pictures on pieces of oak tag and color the pics with glue & rice. Sounds dumb, but it was fun.

That reminds me of when the girls were little and we’d go to Big Bear in the winter. I’d bring food coloring and sprinkle the snow with different colors before I took them on the walk. We have a place next to Fairy Street, and it was when they still believed in fairies.

They’d find the colored snow and truly believe the fairies were about! I’d say that I saw one, and point under someone’s steps. They saw the fairies too! Such good memories.
