Update: CNN says Larry Craig is “reconsidering” his resignation. Run, Larry run!
After having been the target of the right wing smear machine for outing Larry Craig, the recent adventures of “wide stance Larry” have been vindication for Mike Rogers:
Rogers, sitting on a club chair in his Northwest Washington apartment, is basking in the attention. For three years now, he’s been a feared one-man machine, “outing,” he says, nearly three dozen senior political and congressional staffers, White House aides and, most damagingly, Congress members on his blog. On Capitol Hill, a typical phone call from Rogers — “Are you gay?” he’d ask — is “a call from Satan himself,” says a former high-ranking congressional staffer whose name is on the list.
Rogers reasons that there’s justice behind his tactics — “odious,” “outrageous” and “over-the-line” as they might seem to his detractors.
In Rogers’s mind, if you’re against gay rights in your public life and you live a secret homosexual life, all bets are off.
Congratulations to Mike. His work was solid and it’s been fun to watch the whole episode send the GOP — and Faux News — into shrieking bouts of cognitive dissonance.
Gay Old Party, indeed.

What is Larry Flynt up to these days?
KO Time!!!
Shorter Repugs: “No closet is safe anymore. Let’s run for the Hill.”
Mad Dogs @ 6
Any port in a storm:)
KO on. Sounds great with a Special Comment. YYYYYYeeeee
Mike,
Is it true there are many gays in D.C. who seek power so they cannot be fucked over?
The Republicans didn’t get rid of Mr. Craig for the good of the country, they did it in the interest of the corrupt political party known as the Grand Old Punks.
They’re not gay so much as their hypocrites who preach one thing and do another. Anonymously. In public rest rooms.
Jonathan, I left an answer to your energy question at the end of the last thread.
I wonder if there aren’t any other ways to “out” rethugs. I mean, would they eat their own if it was established that one was part Arab-American, part Mexican-American, part-African-American, with Muslim relatives, or just born out of wedlock? What are the bounds of their hate?
Blub @ 13
Outing them as stupid and selfish hasn’t had much impact on the voters, yet.
AP – President Bush’s senior advisers on Iraq have recommended he stand by his current war strategy, and he is unlikely to order more than a symbolic cut in troops before the end of the year, administration officials told The Associated Press Tuesday.
marymccurnin @ 4
Larry is into hypocritical straight sex – the one where the guy claims to be an upstanding member of the community with a lovely wife on one arm and screwing some high priced ‘prostitute’ on the side.
I won’t be *really* impressed until the wingnuts start calling him fat.
christine @ 16
Larry Flynt is the man we hate to love. When’s his publication date?
(((((((Jane)))))))
overheard, second- or third-hand:
Larry Craig should apply for the job of washroom attendant in the U.S. Senate.
eCAHNomics @ 18
Haven’t a clue. But, he’s the one who outted Vitter and says that he’s working on verifying other names.
really off topic – but does anyone know what happned to Daily Kos? I can’t get on. Keep getting a ’server error’ message. Is anyone else having the same problem? May I add: DAMN YOU DICK CHENEY!
I’m actually quite amazed that the sexcapades have been just about entirely a R phenomenon. But then, I always say that hypocrisy is not unique to religion & the U.S., just heavily concentrated there. Guess I’ll have to add the R party to the list.
The Iraqi army was dissolved for the same reason that the Oil Ministry was guarded while the museums weren’t….anarchy and chaos was what they wanted.
These people aren’t complete idiots, I don’t think. Wolfie and the scholastics should have known what would have followed complete denazification in Germany, that’s why it was such a lackluster affair.
They can’t be serious that no one foresaw the utter anomie that was going to result from this?
Either Assassin’s Gate or Chandakarian’s book laid out how the army was dissolved and it was no secret that the orders came from Washington, whether Bush or Rumsfeld.
They wanted this to happen.
Lady Bug @ 22
I have the same problem…and the same sentiment.
Lady Bug @ 22
Same problem. Is this the first sign that they’re coming to get us? Just finished reading FUBAR, so that is on my watch list.
eCAHNomics @ 23
Well, as far as Teh Gay goes, Rogers himself explains that pretty well: He only outs *anti*-gay* gays; and most of those are Republicans.
egregious – you have mail. ;~)
TexBetsy @ 14
It’s part of their appeal!
eCAHNomics @ 26
Do you remember ATM machines not working in Manhattan the weekend before 9/11?
I am with you James.
eCAHNomics @ 26
I was over there about an hour and a half ago with no problems.
Clark says on Olbermann that Bush’s successors will inherit the Iraq War. Are you aware of this, Democratic candidates and Dems in Congress?
Did anyone else notice that during the Mark Foley erruption,
David Dreier’s name never appeared in news stories about the
Republican leadership’s response?
OT, after seeing Chris Shays on the Newshour tonight, I will donate to whoever runs against him next year.
Run, Jane, run.
james @ 24
The old divide & conquer strategy. Be careful what you wish for.
Eli @ 27
He must be working with Larry Flynt then as Flynt has said he’s outing only the pols who preach the family values and are extra judgemental on life its ownself.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 33
It looks to me like they can’t wait for 2009, actually.
james @ 30
Nope, no memory of that at all.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 33
Gravel on CNN today said the front running Dem candidates could stop the war in Iraq now if they wanted to.. I believe Gravel on this point.
allan_in_upstate @ 34
Drop down a couple of threads where Jane covered Shays earlier today and see the folks giving money to Jim Hines through Blue America.
Eureka Springs @ 39
I’m not so sure of that, but that doesn’t mean I think they want to.
allan_in_upstate @ 34
look right here!
Lady Bug @ 22
Working fine here.
Just got an e-mail from my congresscritter..
Seems that it’d be REAL dangerous to withdraw to swiftly from Iraq- seems that the “surge” is workin real good! Seems that my Congresscritter is so in the tank for Clusterfuck that he can’t see his hand in front of his face…
If I want to hear the demented ramblings of Clusterfuck, I can listen to em directly- don’t have ta have my congresscritter repeat em at me!
Eli @ 41
If Hillary or Barack (individually or in unison) declared at every campaign stop and on the Senate floor.. America, it’s time to end this now, peroid, and I need your support while we make it happen. Eli, I think it would end pretty quickly.
Sorry OT, but I was curious–was it ever reported how much money Bush raised for Dave Reichert in Washington State at the fundraiser? I would love to know.
I went to Reichert’s websites and nothing was mentioned about it. I take that to be a good sign.
It’s so nice to be back. I’ve been without Internet for over a week for reasons to tedious to talk about. Boy, it was worse than when I gave up smoking. The biggest problem was that I began to believe I was crazy because the things I saw on MSM were so far removed from my reality. I hadn’t realized how much plugging into leftie blogs kept me sane as well as informed.
allan_in_upstate @ 34
Jane’s in DC, no?
Lady Bug @ 22
No problem here! This is interesting news:
“…the FEC has unanimously determined that DailyKos qualifies as a media entity under federal law.”
Eureka Springs @ 45
As long as the Bush Dogs and party leadership are more shit-scared of Dubya and the Republicans than they are of the voters, nothing will change.
eCAHNomics @ 47
Was wondering about you.. welcome home..)
Eureka Springs @ 39
ReElect President Gore & VP Edwards 2008!
Who better to rebuild the country and the party at the same time.
KO winding up for a “special comment.” Looks like it’s gonna be a combination of
*W trying to “rewrite history”
*W admitting that he’s just trying to “hang on” until October or November “so that candidates will have to be wedded to staying in Iraq”
*W saying, while Commander-in-Chief during a war, that one of the first things he’ll do is make speeches for $$$.
Should be good.
Next on tap — Miss Lindsay the Graham
eCAHNomics @ 47
It’s nice to see you again, eCAHN
Eli @ 37
There is something that is just driving me crazy. I attended a Hillary rally in Portsmouth on Sunday. A whopper of an event- over 4000 there. Lots of Go Hillary razzmatazz, but the one thing that hit me and is still bugging me, is that she proudly proclaimed at the top of her lungs,”if the war is still going on in January 2009, the first day of my Administration, I will move to begin to remove troops responsibly from Iran.” And I thought, “why the fuck should this war be going on in January 2009 – work as Senator to end this atrocity now.” Why would anyone take ownership of this mess from Bush? Every Dem presidential candidate should be working 24/7 to shut this down as soon as possible – are the Dems retarded?
rwcole @ 44
Who’s going against that idiot, Bilbray? Howie have someone in mind?
ES @ 51
Thanks.
eCAHNomics @ 47
Thanks for saying that. I was trying to decide if your apparent abscence was because you were out of town, or I was out of my mind.
Lady Bug @ 56
Well… yes.
Elliott @ 42
I don’t know how to put it delicately. Drier has long been subject to the same rumors Craig was before Craig’s arrest. So has the Senate Minority Leader and Lindsey “Mini-Me” Graham.
Lady Bug @ 56
Freudian slip by HRC…or simple prescience?
Front page of Kos…more of same. Watch the Dems fall in line.
Loo Hoo. @ 48
Check on an earlier post today, she’s in LA for a few days at least. Hanging out at John’s(of Crooks and Liars) place.
Lady Bug @ 56
My bold added.. Iran?
Joe Klein’s conscience @ 62
Wasn’t that the reason wrestling-coach (wink, wink, nod, nod) Hastert got it instead of Drier?
Lady Bug @ 56
Nixon inherited the war from LBJ. It didn’t seem to hurt him in the end(other things did of course).
Welcome back, eCHAN, missing TeddySanFran too…
Newspaperbrat @ 52:
I’ve always felt uncomfortable at the “Re-Defeat Bush” bumper stickers. We did re-defeat him in 2004, and look what we got!!
GordonM @ 68
Yeah, but speaking of Denny and the House, Howie over at DWT has been writing about rumblings about Hastert, and that twerp Patrick McHenry too.
Mike Rogers and every gay person in bloglistan has been talking about David Dreier for EONS!
But does the “Mainstream” pay attention?
No, they blather on and on about “respecting” the “private life” of a complete PIG.
Dreier’s boyfriend is a well-connected Palm Springs plastic surgeon.
Don;t you people remember when Signorile confrinted Dreier at the Republican National Convention and he ran like the cowardly piece of shit that he is?
Joe Klein’s conscience @ 69
Did Nixon do anything to sustain the war prior to getting elected president?
CTuttle @ 49
Thanks. I just got on. Re: the FEC – well Kos is as much a news entity as Fox News. Actually, the sum total of info on Kos is more truthful and correct, though the site has a similar proportion of amateurs as Fox.
That’s my favorite screen-grab. I think those boys are lovely.
Besides this is the 21st Century. Get with the program.
Hugh @ 12
Thanks, as always, Hugh.
Breaking news – Sen. Larry Craig reconsidering decision to resign from the Senate. KO broadcast interrupted with this bulletin.
Eli @ 74
Well, he didn’t quite stoop to Reagan’s level. But he had a “secret plan”. And he was still using that line 4 years later as Kissinger was flying back and forth to Paris.
punaise @ 20
Hmmm. I’m not sure I would want to reward Mr. Craig with a “position” in the bathroom.
eCAHN,
Have hoped you’d come back.
punaise @ 63
Hell yes that was a Freudian slip by me! I hear that this clusterfuck is coming down the pike real quick – watch out for the new moon on the Sept 11. Dickie may try to strike then.
Craig’s reconsidering his resignation. Couldn’t be better for Ds chance in Senate. Such f*ckedupness one could not previously imagine.
newspaperbrat @ 79
this could get interesting.
Does DKos being declared a media outlet have implications?
GordonM @ 79
By “sustain” you mean keep it going? Hell yes, there were more KIA’s during his time in office than prior to it.
eCAHNomics @ 84
Great to see ya back, and, I’ll reiterate; Run, Larry, Run!!! ;-)
Eli @ 73
You mean other than promising to have a “secret plan” to end it which turned out to be escalate and invade Cambodia and Laos? No, but he was also not in elective office at the time he ran in ‘68. You know “You’re not going to have Nixon to kick around anymore…”
eCAHNomics @ 47
A little post-traumatic stress disorder.
Welcome home.
Seems like the tin foil hats are more for what’s being reported out there, eh?
OT: Bill Murray jitneys peers.
This is up at CNN:
BOISE, Idaho – Sen. Larry Craig’s spokesman says the senator is reconsidering his decision to resign according to Associated Press.
Elliott @ 42
Done.
Ah, the power of foul mouthed femblogs.
punaise @ 62
Mrs. Clinton has been known to speak of ‘preparing for the next war’ as we know. The thing that is perhaps worrisome is the word “responsibly”. What does that mean Senator?
punaise @ 85
Looks like KO’s special comment will be about Craig – sounded like there was some fast re-writing going on between commericials. Here on our left coast KO is repeated later in the evening.
Think Progress links to a good interview with Al Gore. But I like his answer, when asked about the Darth Branch of Government. Al has an external hard drive!
_________________________
Cheney has made the argument that the vice presidency is not part of the executive branch. Is he right?
[Gore] (Laughs) Of course the vice presidency is part of the executive branch! But I fear that I’m losing my objectivity where President Bush and Cheney are concerned. Not much surprises me anymore. I have a lot of friends who share the following problem with me: Our sense of outrage is so saturated that when a new outrage occurs, we have to download some existing outrage into an external hard drive in order to make room for a new outrage.
dakine01 @ 89
That’s kind of my point. Nixon had nothing to do with Vietnam when he was first elected, while Hillary and Obama are both members of the feckless and ineffectual Democratic Congress which is giving Dubya everything he wants.
newspaperbrat @ 94
I don’t think so, he’s going after the latest photo-op in Iraq.
Eli at 74
No.
Nixon inherited the Viet Nam war, just as the next president will inherit the Iraq mess.
The question is (just as it was with Nixon), what will the next president do?
I suspect the next president will do what Nixon did, namely, figure a way out that wins a Nobel Peace Prize for his or her Secretary of State, and leaves the locals to their own fortunes.
Frank33 @ 96
Algore invented the hard drive, you know.
Jonathan @ 82
Thanks to everyone who missed me. ((((to all)))).
My brother’s ill, and when I visit him upstate, and socialize with all his descendants, I’m not online very much. That explains some of my other absences. But then I have my extended family to keep me on track, so I don’t feel so weird. Living alone with W in charge of the country can do strange things to one’s mind.
Keith’s special comment coming up…
Hey Jane, We’re up to 99 donors and over $3,000 for Jim Himes at BlueAmerica. Come on people we need 9 more donors to teach Shays a lesson.
punaise @ 91
Wow, there’s 7-11’s in Stockholm…!!! ;-)
radiofreewill @ 89
Here is the link
OH
I
LOVE IT!!!!!
This story will drag on for MONTHS — pulling the Rethuglican party down with it ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!
David Ehrenstein @ 73
No, David. Got links? He’s a hero on talk radio out of LA. I’d love to send some hypocritical links. KFI LA.
They’ll be calling for Craig to switch sides for sure.
Eli @ 96
Nothing to do with Vietnam? IMHO the idiotic decsion by JFK and LBJ to intervene in Vietnam was a direct result of the pressure put on by the right-wing republicans during the “red scare”. The Democrats were afraid of being seen as soft after having “lost” China so they bowed-up in the Nam. Same as Hillary is goin to to.
David Ehrenstein @ 106
Like we haven’t thought that before…
Eli @ 96
I understand your point but given how he operated once in office, I have to believe that Nixon would have been just as complicit on Vietnam had he been in a lesser office when he ran. He was trying to play the two ends against the middle with his “secret plan” cr*p. And if memory serves me, he was as supportive of LBJ as any other Republican.
After all, it was the original DFHs and peace-niks that were against the war. And it was Nixon’s WH that prosecuted the Chicago 8 and caused the killings at Kent and Jackson States.
egregious @ 100
Woo hoo! That’s great, egregious.
Run Larry run!
As one who has been flying small planes for over thirty years, I am particularly worried about Steve Fossett.
GordonM @ 79
Nixon, with the help of Kissinger, had Anna Chennault contact the South Vietnamese government and convince them to refuse Johnson’s efforts at opening secret talks to end the war which, if it had happened, would have helped Humphrey.
The South Vietnamese decided to play along with Nixon because they were convinced that the Republicans would be better for them than the Democrats who were already turning against the war and by extrapolation the Vietnamese government.
This, of course, was a violation of the Neutrality Act, but what’s a federal felony among GOP office-seekers?
So even the 1968 presidential election that opened the door for the criminals who are now spinkled throughout the bureaucracy was tainted and what Bush Sr, Mumbles Casey, and Bob Gates probably did in France with relation to negotiating with the Iranians to keep the American hostages for longer than necessary in captivity had its genesis in Tricky Dick’s campaign.
Sorry, but as I’ve been saying for years, it always comes back to Nixon.
Go here.
Or simply Google “David Dreier” and “Gay”
dakine01 @ 111
Can’t argue with any of that. Nixon was almost as bloodthirsty a bastard as Dubya.
From Slate:
Just how sexy can you get when there’s a divider in the way?
It depends on the bathroom. If the participants were in the last stall in a long row, they might have enough privacy to get it on right there beneath the divider. Alternatively, one person can enter the other’s stall by surreptitiously ducking out and back. Positions vary depending on the space, but one classic setup has one man sit on the toilet while the other straddles his legs and receives oral sex. (In the 1970s, some men frequenting the popular bathrooms at Bloomingdale’s in New York would hide their legs by standing in a pair of shopping bags.)
ccmask @ 108
*gasp* Don’tcha mean he needs to widen his stance??? ;-)
Oklahoma kiddo @ 110
Yeah, I read that. No word yet, I guess.
Eureka Springs @ 102
‘Just be Gay, Larry.’
KO giving Bush hello.
KO special comment
Bush proved to be a liar about Iraq.
“I’m playing for October and November”–Bush
Wants Repug pres candidates to be “comfortable” about continuing the war in Iraq.
Wants Repugs to jump into bottomless pit with him
Goal: perpetuating this war forever
Should have already resigned and left the country
Bush continues “playing”
Bush says can maintain same level of security with fewer troops in Iraq
That’s a lie
Bush hopes his would-be successors will prolong the war into the next decade
Bush you are lying, again.

Same as Hillary is goin to to.
they dumped craig because he voted against the patriot act………they were just waitin’ for the moment………..
KO is on fire with his special comment the man should be a preacher!
It’s easy to blame Viet Nam on Nixon.
And yeah, he was one evil fuck.
But you want an evil fuck: try LBJ.
I’m not taking sides politically.
Just looking at history.
KO, “President Bush, You are playing us!”
In his famous 1950 Senate campaign against Rep. Helen Gahagan Douglas, Nixon distributed a so-called “Pink Sheet” purporting to show that Douglas voted down the line with Rep. Vito Marcantonio, a Communist sympathizer who represented East Harlem in Congress. The Pink Sheet claimed that “during her five years in Congress, Helen Douglas has voted 353 times exactly as has Vito Marcantonio, the notorious Communist party-line Congressman from New York,” and that Nixon had voted “exactly the opposite to the Douglas-Marcantonio axis.”. . .
All of which is to say that Richard Nixon was sometimes a hard-working and conscientious anti-Communist congressman. But on the campaign trail he lied with reckless abandon, thus blurring the line that separated him from Joe McCarthy
Bush deciding to keep the soldiers in Iraq as long as he’s president so he can save face is kind of like what Poppy did with Casey in extending the captivity of the hostages for political purposes….playing with the lives of Americans so that the Bush family can project and protect its “legacy.”
Bush, you have no intention of withdrawing them, but are pretending you are considering it.
You can fool some of the people all of the time
You are “playing” us
Decisions about troop levels will be made by military leaders “on the ground,” not “politicans in Washington”…Bush
As if, sir, you listened to the calm assessments of all our military commanders unstead of firing them
The media is enabling Bush’s actions
Bush believes night is day, death is life
Playing at a foto opportuntiy, with soldiers, some of whom will be killed within the year if not the month.
KO: Polls reflect nation’s agony.
Laziest of presidents flew to Iraq to play photo op with soldiers who may be killed on his orders.
KO: Mr. Bush, our presence in Iraq must end. Even if it means impeachment.
Bush has torn away at the fabric of the nation in a way that terrorists could only dream to do
Bush has contradicted every rationale he has offered in the last 500 days
Out of Iraq now, even if it means your resignation
This country cannot run the risk of what you can still do to the country while you are “playing”
Good night and Good luck.
Impeach!!!
Jonathan @ 110
Careful, we got folks on the lake that buy into the idea that LBJ was a victim. He was a corrupt, pandering Texas scumbag and my friends on the Wall were out there by his policy.
Olbermann. Doing the lifting. Tonight.
Tell it, KO!!!!!!!!!
Is it impeachment yet?
Oklahoma kiddo @ 134
As usual. The only man on nightly news with a set.
How do we send a copy of KO’s Special Comment to the Dems??
KO lays out the harm Bush has done in the last “500 days” [pointing out that he’s got about 500 days left] and dares us to imagine what he can do next.
He calls for resignation or impeachment. Dems, are you listening???
raven @ 136
Did Lady Bird have interests in Rubber plantations?
He’s a very nice looking man also.
Arianna re: Craig on Abrams, MSNBC.
raven at 136
LBJ a victim?
I don’t know where to begin.
raven @ 128
That 1950 Nixon campaign was being bankrolled by the Dulles brothers, Prescott Bush, and Californians in the GOP who were actively supporting the immigration of large numbers of Nazis to the US.
Craig is like a gift that will keep on giving. He should be vewy vewy careful…
james @ 127
Junya thinks he’s still playin’ in his sandbox. And his family, friends (Huh? What friends?), and staff ain’t never bothered to tell him otherwise.
CTuttle @ 125
I don’t know but Diem had heavy Catholic related ties with JFK.
This is just SO PERFECT!!!
The Rethugs have been clamoring for Larry to get lost cause they consider Idaho a safe seat — one any Rethug can win.
But if Larry stays and insists on running again — then Idaho goes to the Democrats in a walk!!!!
raven @ 136
The inside word from my TX friend, whose father was in TX politics in the 1950s, claims that LBJ had political opponents killed. Now she is a sensible knowledgeable person so I can’t dismiss her assertion, but given how remote the story is, I don’t necessarily believe it. Still, LBJ was a mean S-O-B.
raven @ 135
LBJ=Brown and Root=Dresser Industries=George H W Bush=JFK assassination=Texas dominance in politics=George W Bush=fascism in America
KO ko’ed again. sounded great.
Mauimom @ 138
Crooks and liars will have it up soon.. You could forward the link.
ccmask @ 144
It seems odd to me that there hasn’t been another shoe drop
Yet
Hey Jane, are you going to be at Sunday’s Greater Blogistan Convergence?
I am tempted to hope Craig decides not to resign.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 141
Arianna is FOS on this: says police should be doing other things than patrolling bathrooms. Never mind that there were complaints about sex being solicited in this particular bathroom.
If we can find a transcript of KO’s special comment we should email it to all dems. ALL of the idiots that have no spin or spirit.
Looks like the Dems will be faced with the same thing they were a few months ago. End the war or cave…again.
David Ehrenstein @ 150
Not so fast, the RNC would surely back another candidate in the primary…!!!
snowbird42 @ 157
There is ZERO chance the war will be ended, zip, nada, neva hoppin GI.
snowbird42 @ 157
Keith said directly that Bush should not be given one more dime, other than to bring troops home.
Mauimom @ 155
I may finally have found an issue I do not agree with Arianna on.
New post
Not so fast yourself. Larry copuld then simply take a page from Joe Lieberman.
Meanwhile he’s pantsed all over the place.
David Ehrenstein @ 147
From your mouth to Diebold’s ears.
Frank33 @ 93
I know how he feels! See, he’s just our kinda’ guy.
Arianna’s thinking back a tad too fondly of Michael.
(BTW, I got great shot Michael and his new boytoy at Outfest this year. Trophy Wives are nothing compared to Trophy Boytoys)
According to no less an authority than cruisingforsex.com that particular tearoom was a hotbed of activity. And that cop was one of many assigned to peridoically check in.
On that day he got lucky.
(BTW, That cop’s a BABE!!)
David Ehrenstein @ 163
Heh, but you ignore the gist of it!!!
No gist to ignore.
The Rethugs are fucking radioactive .
Keith did have an excellent point. Draper claims the actual policy is endless continuation of the Iraq War/Occupation/Genocide. Then the Iraq Study Group, the Petraeus Report, speeches at the VFW, and so on are part of a fraud, to deceive Congress, and the people. That seems quite impeachable.
Hugh, is this Bush War Fraud on your list yet?
Did you guys see this pic of Bush & Larry Craig?
Better link here: Rude pundit has more pics
Look at what Larry just found in a Tearoom!!!
CTuttle @ 135
Hear, hear!
Sooner than later – the ratfink Bush is capable of unleashing a desperate destructive bombing of Iran at any moment – even from abroad. If must be obvious to the ambitious democratic/autocratic body at large and we need to shame, scream and persist they get busy before countless other lives are destroyed in the name of We The People. They are as responsible as their rethuglican colleagues and the American people need to stand up and make all their lives miserable until they acquieise to the majority will of the country.
David Ehrenstein @ 172
The one on the left looks a little ‘older’ than is required by the military.
Larry is going to reconsider. Go for it, Larry!
snowbird42 @ 157
We have to bombard them with either not funding or not letting this come to floor for a vote. They told us to be patient until September. It’s September and the surge is not working. We have to hold their feet to the fire.
Eureka Springs @ 45
I don’t quite see how that would force an end to it, but I can easily see John Edwards calling for it and challenging the other Dem candidates (who say they are anti-war and would pull us out of Iraq upon taking office) to join with him to call for a withdrawal beginning as soon as it could reasonably be prepared.
I can’t imagine anybody following his lead after he’s embarrassed them so many times before with his leadership!
ccmask @ 129
His brief stop-over in Iraq reminds me of the photo of him on Air Force One looking out at New Orleans. He flew on.
David Ehrenstein @ 147
I thought Craig officially resigned his senate seat.
Oh well, if he can stay then we should definitely get somebody good in Idaho to run…just in case Craig is successful. Still, I wouldn’t bet a lot on success there. If we got it it would be gravy and likely lost again after just one term.
