wigwam @ 413

So, I will refrain from denouncing people like Huckabee, the CA Gubernator, and Hagel, I meant to say Hagel.

I wouldn’t vote for them ever in a million years.

I do have to say that the ‘media darling’ thing irks me, whoever it is. I didn’t like it with McCain, and don;t like it with Huckabee.

Why is the median filled with grown-ups that act like very pseudo-sophisticated and cynical, but also very naive maladjusted teenagers who are prone to crushes and hidden simple minded tripe sentimentality?

I think it is a script they have to do. It’s in their contracts. Has to be an act, since they surely are older than 16.

IMHO, we need to tell dems that the option for voting against them in the primary and/or the general election is “still on the table.” It doesn’t matter how you feel internally. You need to say that option is “Still on the table.”

DING! DING! DING!

If that fails what are the options for We the People? The notion of pitch forks and torches seem futile.

…

So, does he now plan attacks on Seville, Melbourne, Baku, Johannesburg and some other places where Al Qaeda might move to plan attacks on us?

Do we have to destroy the whole world to deny them any place from which they can plan attacks on us?

Yes, crazy is the word.

Hey blub. If you’ve never read “Lines and Shadows,” do yourself a treat. It’s short, and it’s a documentary written like a novel by a true novelist. I swear that anyone who lives in that area will not regret having read it. (But I’m not saying you’ll not get upset.)

It will be very white and evocative of the Republican brand, no doubt about that.

A thousand years from now, an archaeologist will unearth it from the detritus that is now Dallas and will say, “I wonder who the fuck is buried in this tomb?”

and find nothing inside but hot air and one copy of my pet goat.

burying a pet goat and some hot air in a white elephant in Dallas?

This sounds like a job for Super Dear Leader!

If the best minds that God gave us have studied the Earth and say we evolved, then who are we to deny that it was all evidence planted there by God to make us think something really weird?

This(!) is a view of God I have a little trouble accepting.

— He who pays the piper calls the tune.
— He who controls the purse strings controls the situation.

I’ve had many friends in the news business who insist that they are not coersced. But somehow I feel like I’m talking to a sardine who’s insisting that he can swim wherever he likes — he just always likes to stay with his school.

Otay Mesa was the ultimate hell hole, followed closely by Imperial Beach, which I always felt would someday be a speculator’s dream.

I love IB. It has real character, despite the fact that CA-50’s rethug, Brian Bilbray, lives there (IB is not actually in CA-50, mind you, but truth-in-campaigning has never been a rethug virtue)

To the best of my knowledge nothing’s in Otay Mesa.. or at least nobody lives there. It’s mainly agricultural and industrial… saved for future development. Not sure how it could be characterized as a hellhole by virtue of being undeveloped, and the views are gorgeous.

I think we may look for different things in neighborhoods :)

She’s my “ex” for many reason. I don’t subscribe to her prejudices, and wasn’t there when she had her fights with people other than me.

So, IIRC, Bilbray is the new rep from Cunnigham’s district in North County. An asshole. Right?

I have a friend there, a DFH who’s a progressive triple-threat:
- an operative among the Quakers — they hate titles.
- president of the local teachers’ union
- a founder of the local Veterans for Peace.
They do an Arlington-West thing most weekends somewhere near Solana Beach. If you run across any of that, look for a DFH named “Jim” with a twinkle in his eye and tell him I said, “Hi.” He’ll know who.

I nearly fell off my chair when I read that this morning. How in the hell can you not remember dismantling an entire army??

It’s difficult to appreciate just how shallow this son-of-a-bitch really is. Despite what Molly Ivins said, this guy is much dumber than he looks.
