Why is the median filled with grown-ups that act like very pseudo-sophisticated and cynical, but also very naive maladjusted teenagers who are prone to crushes and hidden simple minded tripe sentimentality?

I think it is a script they have to do. It’s in their contracts. Has to be an act, since they surely are older than 16.

IMHO, we need to tell dems that the option for voting against them in the primary and/or the general election is “still on the table.” It doesn’t matter how you feel internally. You need to say that option is “Still on the table.”

— He who controls the purse strings controls the situation.

I’ve had many friends in the news business who insist that they are not coersced. But somehow I feel like I’m talking to a sardine who’s insisting that he can swim wherever he likes — he just always likes to stay with his school.

Otay Mesa was the ultimate hell hole, followed closely by Imperial Beach, which I always felt would someday be a speculator’s dream.

I love IB. It has real character, despite the fact that CA-50’s rethug, Brian Bilbray, lives there (IB is not actually in CA-50, mind you, but truth-in-campaigning has never been a rethug virtue)

To the best of my knowledge nothing’s in Otay Mesa.. or at least nobody lives there. It’s mainly agricultural and industrial… saved for future development. Not sure how it could be characterized as a hellhole by virtue of being undeveloped, and the views are gorgeous.

I think we may look for different things in neighborhoods :)

She’s my “ex” for many reason. I don’t subscribe to her prejudices, and wasn’t there when she had her fights with people other than me.

So, IIRC, Bilbray is the new rep from Cunnigham’s district in North County. An asshole. Right?

I have a friend there, a DFH who’s a progressive triple-threat:
– an operative among the Quakers — they hate titles.
– president of the local teachers’ union
– a founder of the local Veterans for Peace.
They do an Arlington-West thing most weekends somewhere near Solana Beach. If you run across any of that, look for a DFH named “Jim” with a twinkle in his eye and tell him I said, “Hi.” He’ll know who.
