Josh at TPM seemed to think this story could end up being very serious business. To me, it seems like business as usual for this admin, but maybe getting publicly caught by living Congresscritters will give it legs.

That’s why I’m talking about it here tonight. Can you imagine the hue and cry that would have been raised in the media had this been done by the Clinton-Era DoJ to visiting GOP congresscritters touring Bosnia or Yugoslavia or Kosovo? There would have been Congressional hearing and it would have been all over TV; when they weren’t hyperventilating over the blue dress or trashing Wen Ho Lee, they’d be drooling over this.

Yes, it’s despicable and dangerous to involve the military in political discussions. And, it should be investigated and stopped. But, at the same time, there are more pressing matters.

Don’t put too much on education. For ex, Rumsfeld went to Princeton. Going to a good University gives you the resources to increase your knowledge, and maybe even wisdom, but it’s no guarantee.

Yeah I know. But you’d think between prep school and college some knowledge would have taken root. But no, nothing, nada, zippo. his mind is a barren field where no seed can find purchase.

There is also something of wisdom and ethics one is supposed to pick up from their study of history, or “Western Civilization” as it was known in Rumsfeld’s time. IMHO, his monumental cynicism is a product of his association with Republicans (possibly his parents).

A warning to the troops: Loose lips sink military appropriations bills. You can talk freely around Rep A, but watch what you say around Rep B and Rep C.

And for God’s sake, keep them away from X.

Yeah, how the rethugs came up with W is some kind of sick metaphor for the way government disfunctions in the US. He failed at everything he tried up to running for POTUS, and of course has been true to form since being elected. You would have thought it was obvious from the start.
