Thanks for writing. I keep checking back for an answer. Maybe you can understand why I am concerned about the billions of dollars aimed at faith-based programs.
The idea that people of Bush’s and Rove’s character can declare by an executive directive that the carefully prepared gap between church and politics would be bridged by billions of taxpayer dollars is dreadful.

I hope that your husband, a Methodist minister now running for office, will speak about the effects of the multibillion dollar bribery offered to and accepted by religion.

I also hope your husband will talk with us about the nominee for Surgeon General. Does this man represent Methodists? What is going on with this man?

Even though I’m an atheist, I say, God Bless You, Barry Welsh (I do believe in the Golden Rule and the humanitarian teachings of Jesus – not his godhood, but his wisdom).

Your progressive brand of Christianity I can accept and respect, because I know (as an ex-Christian) that Jesus was about love, that he was a radical in his own times.

If you can help the people of your District see the “light” about what is right for our country, then go for it. And may your “God” support you and your fellow Indiana mammon vote for you.

Please tell Barry that Jay Tweedy said hello. I know Mike Pence had a big gathering in Knightstown, (at the Methodist Church, iirc). I’m actually in Indy now, but would love to see Barry follow Pence into K-town. From what I understand, Pence went over pretty big there – time for a rebuttal.

My grandfather spend part of his childhood in k-town.

He describes the people there as being William Jennings Bryan liberals.

i.e. liberal but very Christian.

Is this true?

Rev. Walsh you seem like a great guy if you get elected would be willing to help spread the word that progressive Christianity does exist?

Thanks for asking, and it’s Barry not Rev. and I think by running, I am doing that. There are many progressive Christians and I find it hard to actually practice Christianity without being progressive. It is Peace, Love, Understanding and helping those that need it. that is Christianity and that is progressive, to me, they go hand in hand.

But to others, their faith is to be used not practiced, so there is an obvious and very real difference.

To answer your question, yes, I will be one of those voices.

Fini, you ought to put a link to the video up on the campaign website. If it’s there already, I couldn’t find it, so you might want to give it some better visibility.

Putting a transcript up might also be a good idea.

The video is prominent on the right side of the front page but i think Internet Explorer is having trouble with it last I heard from our web guy. We have been working on that for a few days. Definitely agree with the transcript too for those on dialup who cant watch the vid (or for that matter on IE).

The link is labeled “Barry Welsh Television” which, while true, isn’t exactly a grabber of a title, and I missed this in looking around for it. How about something like “Click here to see Barry speaking to a live audience of Hoosiers”? Make it clear that this isn’t a staged pre-packaged studio infomercial, but a live speech.
