Directed splash please, Suzanne. Hot as hell here and no rain for over 2 weeks!
Ha! I’ll see you your two weeks and raise you “nothing discernable in nearly a year”.
But in south Louisiana in the summer it usually rains nearly every day in the afternoon. For some bizarre reason it has rained all over except at MY house. Literally within 1/2 a mile but not here. I’m beginning to get a complex.
I just tonight saw Sicko. I alternated between tears and anger!! And they screened an “opposing” viewpoints short film after, lasted 15 minutes or so, I walked outside (I am a volunteer so couldn’t leave the venue). What can we do to counter this shit?!?! I know I am on a university campus, but why do we think we have to show a counterbalancing viewpoint to people who paid for their movie tickets and weren’t forced to sit through it.
Evening, Peterr, Cassie, madmommy, OKK Suzanne, and all! It’s a lovely night up here–65 and the rain just stopped, supposed to be 70 or so and sunny for the w/e. How are you all?

Hmmm….the reverse of a thundercloud hanging over your head, eh?
Yeah, and in so Cal, that’s not unheard of, nothing for a year. But it was fairly dry the year before that, and so the fire hazard is truly delightful now.
And it always amuses me, as a child of the desert, to hear something like “nothing for two weeks!” :-)

I was talking to Baby Girl on my cellphone right after I lost power yesterday. I was whining and bitching and moaning it being 93 in the shade and no power and she informed me it was 101 in St George and raining. She won the bad weather story of the day award.
Evening all.
Welcome back Suzanne. I trust that you are not totally smoked out there. Unfortunately we are again, but they are predicting heavy rain tonight which would clear it out. It would also be the first significant rain we have had since the first of July. We are currently at about 2/3 normal rainfall for the year.

It’s just cruel to say such things :0)
Oh just get on a plane and come visit. (Or, cheaper version, think about January).

January is generally delightful, though sometimes a bit chilly in the evenings. We get 2 or 3 months a year when you do not become drenched in sweat upon walking out the front door.

I used to visit Baton Rouge in the fall or winter. Loved it down there, a really interesting place. The summer would be a bit much, tho, I’m not so good if it’s too hot and humid.

Well, since I went out and didn’t watch, I’m not sure, but it had to do with how people without insurance are treated (very fairly, by law). I probably should have watched, but it turned my stomach. I understand fairness and opposing points of view, but it wasn’t like the ticket-buying (full house, btw) audience was forced to be there, so why feel obligated to screen an “opposing” viewpoint??
Except that it’s a University cinema…
They are screening No End In Sight in a couple of weeks. I wonder if they will feel compelled to present an “opposing” viewpoint…
When I moved here from Colorado I drove across country in the middle of September. Took my time, visited my brother and got here at the end of the month. I called a friend to see how things were in the old neighborhood and she told me it was snowing. At the time I was sitting on the patio sweating like crazy drinking sweet tea like it was going out of style. She was not amused.

She shoulda been. What’s the use of railing at the weather somewhere else?

It might have been because she had just gotten back from Hawaii. Quite the shock to the system.
Survived the first week of classes with flying colors. Looks like a pretty good group. On the other hand the smoke from the forest fires rolled back in yesterday and today. Could barely see the mountains a mile and a half away. Coughing & sneezing all the time and my eyes itch and burn constantly.

If you’re a Mainer, I defer (been here 30 years, but that doesn’t count). Which town are you in?
Sedgwick. Born in Boston, raised in NJ and DC, came here in 62, left again…. Came back in 96.
I earned “local” when I learned to heat my house with wood I cut and hauled and split myself, (which took a few years until I realized how much wood that really is). That and buying cars with over 100K on them…
Since a more serious note is creeping in, anyone see the Newshour tonight? The segment on soldiers in Iraq, which had some horrendous footage (fortunately I was in another room and only heard it) and then an interview with two shrinks who treat PTSD really freaked me out. What got to me, as well as the awful violence, was how clinical they sounded in the face of all that horrible stuff and what it was doing to the soldiers (and Iraqis too, of course). I really wonder what they (the shrinks) think about the war–a lot of what they described would never have happened if the Iraqis wanted us there (for ex, they are told to “trust no one”, one case involved killing an innocent taxi driver because he didn’t stop so might have been a suicide bomber). I’m thinking about sending a question to them asking about their attitude to the war–this can be done from the Newshour website.
Sorry to spoil the party, but this is eating at me.

Ironically, another Mitt aide was busted this month for making fake police credentials for Romney staff to use. You can’t make this stuff up.

That whole area is so beautiful. I took my grandsons to Blue Hill Falls last week–a very special place. It’s actually a salt water rapid, most unusual.
Tonight, Barry S. Edward, organizer of Rudy’s Reagan Day Dinner fundraiser in Pinellas County, stepped down from his position after his criminal record of extorting sex and trafficking in stolen state computers was revealed.
Edwards called the 1998 arrests “old news”, but decided to step down because “I’m not relevant and I shouldn’t be the story.”

He forgot to mention the “spending more time with family” excuse. Slacker.

Yes you can! The Onion makes stuff up, we should make up the most outrageous stuff we can and then, THEN say, Look! We made s%^t up and you guys do even worse!
I’m on outrage overload…

Yup. The alternate route home from the supermarket. Been meaning to get a kayak so I could play there.
(Drive a bit further down the road into Brooklin, you’ll pass Matt Yglesias’s summer house, the house where EB White wrote Charlotte’s Webb, the pond hockey rink, Wooden Boat…)
According to a Florida State University arrest affidavit: Edwards was first charged after a 19-year-old FSU political science intern claimed Edwards, then an adjunct professor, plied him with beers, trolled briefly for prostitutes, watched ”heterosexual” pornography and then exhorted him to masturbate in a game.

Actually I don’t find the Onion that funny anymore. It’s too hard to go over the top of what the current administration does.

I am getting OD’d on popcorn..Did you see the piece that Howie did on Patrick McHenry?
I’m fading fast, ya’ll. Didn’t get my customary afternoon nap. Don’t tell the hubby, he thinks I run around like a madwoman all day. I really do most days, but manage to carve out a siesta so I can stay up late to hang at the lake.

There is a coffee shop I go to whose logo is a sort of TV screen with legs, with the legend: “sleep is for the weak”
They say when you get older, you need less sleep. I’m getting older. I’m still waiting.
I’m actually starting to see this. Six hours of sleep is fine for me. What’s happening is that I’m still very good at staying up too late, but I can’t stand to sleep in anymore, even on weekends. I used to always need 8-9, now it’s about 6-7. Very strange. Gradual. Not all of a sudden.

I’m just the opposite. Went on 6 hours from my teens to my late 40s, but for the last several years I have to have 8 hours.
(waving to laura doty across the hills and bay) its still forking hot down here – 76.
Where are you? I forget–Texas?
Boulder Creek – in the Santa Cruz mountains of CA between santa cruz and san jose – just south of the SF bay area but it is considered Central California.

PeterK, where are you with that lovely weather? I’m envious ;-)
Bangor, Maine. Summer is wonderful up here. My apologies :-) .
Interested to know if you read Maine blogs. Turn Maine Blue has been great about covering the Susie/ Lance story. Discovered that blog when I was trying to figure out how to publicize Tom Allen’s appearance here as a BA candidate. I read TMB often, and occasionally comment.
Hi Suzanne: Sorry to miss your dive. It’s 62 here….ah the microclimates of California. I wouldn’t have thought you’d be hotter than Sonoma County.
13 miles from the ocean usually helps mitigate the heat up here at 627 elevation but there is no fog no where to cool us off – weather dood tonight said 100’s for the next few days, one day of cool off then its supposed to get hot again. dayam.

Oh, nice. Haven’t been there, but nearby (road from south of Palo Alto to SC, and also Santa Barbara area). Quite beautiful, but I guess a bit hot in summer. Don’t you get sea fog at times, tho?

I got by on 5 last night. Not very well, though. And I hate to waste my weekends sleeping through them. Even the 3 day ones!
PeterK, that road south from Palo Alto to Santa Cruz took ya to highway 9, which takes ya down into santa cruz – i’m just across the san lorenzo river from highway 9.

Sounds like where I am — close enough to the ocean that it’s not ridiculous like some places in the interior, but not close enough for the blessed maritime layer to put a moderating influence over everything. (Can you tell that I grew up a tad closer to the ocean than I am now.)
I’m about 12 miles from the ocean, give or take. Normally it’s pretty good here. But christ on a crutch, the last couple of weeks! The heat’s one thing but the humidity from AZ…stop it already…
Wow that looks great. An interesting picture, looks like they’ve been put in a picture frame?
I found strawberry plants today! I’m sure it’s too late in the season really, but I’m going to be stubborn and plant them. I also debated getting some grapes to plant, and I may yet go back and pick them up. I want to plant a pomegranate, a plum tree, and maybe an avocado tree, if there are any dwarf varieties to be had…
Officer accused of spanking woman’s rear is charged
from Star-Telegram.com: Fort Worth/Dallas News, Sports, Weather …
By MELODY McDONALD
FORT WORTH — A Fort Worth police officer arrested last week on accusations he spanked the rear of a woman he caught engaging in sexual conduct in a car in Oakhurst Park was charged with official oppression.
If convicted of that charge, a Class A misdemeanor, officer Craig Murrah faces up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
Prosecutor Kurt Stallings confirmed Thursday that Murrah had been officially charged but said the case will also be presented to a grand jury.
Police have said that at about 1 a.m. on June 22, Murrah found a couple engaging in sexual conduct in a car at the park at 2300 Daisy Lane in north Fort Worth. The officer ordered the couple out of the car and placed the 18-year-old woman, nude from the waist down, in the back of a patrol car. At some point during the investigation, Murrah allegedly spanked the woman on the rear, police have said.
The woman said the officer let them go with only a warning.
When the woman told her boyfriend what the officer had done, he called 911. Police conducted an internal investigation, and a warrant was issued for Murrah’s arrest.
Wes Ball, Murrah’s defense attorney, said Thursday that they will wait to see all the details but said they intend to plead not guilty. He also pointed out that the couple, by their own admission, was breaking the law by having sexual contact in public.
“They were violating the law, and, as far as I understand it, officer Murrah has provided 6 1/2 years of good service,” Ball said. “This is a grave thing for him, his future and his career. He has asked me to help him, and that is what I intend to do.”

OK pups, thanks for the opportunity to vent re the NewsHour (@ 115)–even if you didn’t read it! I sent them a question, basically “doesn’t this bother you, since a lot of it wouldn’t happen if the Iraqis wanted us there”. Both of the therapists are ex-military, it turns out, kind of “shrinkus ex machina”… See how they answer.

Which, by the “two wrongs, one right” principle, does not make Murrah’s alleged conduct legal or acceptable. Nice try at a smokescreen, though.

Bush Admin Sides with Infant Formula Lobby
from Talking Points Memo: by Joshua Micah Marshall
This is deservedly getting a lot of attention this morning. From WaPo:
In an attempt to raise the nation’s historically low rate of breast-feeding, federal health officials commissioned an attention-grabbing advertising campaign a few years ago to convince mothers that their babies faced real health risks if they did not breast-feed. It featured striking photos of insulin syringes and asthma inhalers topped with rubber nipples.
Plans to run these blunt ads infuriated the politically powerful infant formula industry, which hired a former chairman of the Republican National Committee and a former top regulatory official to lobby the Health and Human Services Department. Not long afterward, department political appointees toned down the campaign. . . .
The ads ran instead with more friendly images of dandelions and cherry-topped ice cream scoops, to dramatize how breast-feeding could help avert respiratory problems and obesity.

My mother was a fan of June Christie and Stan Kenton both; she used to sing along with the album while when was cooking, which is how I learned that song.

Homophobia a $400m fundraiser
from RawStory.com Headlines
Homophobia has flourished in the Bush era, both as a potent political tool — many people believe George Bush would have lost Ohio in 2004, and thus a second term, if Karl Rove hadn’t made sure there was an anti-gay initiative on the state ballot — and as an industry unto itself. In just one year, the top 10 Christianist groups that promote homophobia raised over $400 million in tax-free dollar

I used to live in the house Gram Parsons burned a few months before he died. I didn’t know it until I walked out the front door into a British camera crew filming a documentary in my driveway.

You’re story reminded me of this one, ya nod off, head on hands, with one ear open and then when the boss walks up, you audibly whisper In Jesus’ name, Amen. :)
I’ve devised a trick perfected over 23 years of police and fire dispatching and odd shifts: get some reading material, doesn’t matter what kind, and prop your forehead up with one hand while appearing to be absorbed in said reading material. Works for me ;-)
The Bush Plan For The Mortgage Crisis: ‘Less Than It Appears’
from The Full Feed from HuffingtonPost.com by The Huffington Post News Editors
President Bush on Friday unveiled his plan to address homeowners who face foreclosure in the nation’s credit crunch and housing slump.
The plan was announced days before Congress returns from its August recess with housing issues high on its agenda. The proposals, however, duplicate efforts already under way by Congress and other federal agencies, would help at most 21 percent of the homeowners facing foreclosures and would do little to help areas in which inflated real estate prices are a problem.

Laura, thankfully I don’t work the night shifts anymore — tenure helps a bit! ;-) It was ok in my younger days, but I sure couldn’t do it now.
Glad to hear you have a reprieve. I don’t miss those lonnnngggg nights (at Psych Emergency). Our elder daughter was 6, 7, 8 during those years. Very hard times.
Our little secret. The trick is to do it with your eyes open. (I know, defeats the purpose…)

I sit in my chair (putting my back to my upstairs office door), and hold a report. As soon as my door opens, I am awake. It helps that everyone else is downstairs and I’m alone up there.
Halleluja, Sisters.
Dayem, now that I’m a Working Woman, I’m just thankful to be able to be here for a l’il bit on a Friday night.
Just got home from goin’ Out To Dinner. Woo Hoo. I’m so tired, I had only one beer. Okay? Know what I’m talking about. I’m so tired, I’m not even gonna try to get Suzanne to clue me in on the zed timing. Just grateful to share with my g’friends a bit.
laura, i stayed up and watched the lunar eclipse – that orange glow was spooky and made me think of halloween and fall – not hot summer nights. watching it, i could see how folks in times past would freak out – not knowing what was going on.
Late coming in, but are we talking about Gram Parsons? Has anyone else seen (or mentioned) that movie about his friend who took his dead body….Oh, Burying Gram Parsons? Something like that? Ended up burning him in a car or some such.
It was ruby red my way. I’m lucky to have a west-facing window. All I had to do was wake myself up periodically and lift my head. So pretty. Of course, the next day I was a complete fool, but it was worth it.

Grand Theft Parsons.
Took him out to Joshua Tree and did the deed, as legend has it.

And I can be a complete fool with or without an eclipse.

Haven’t seen the movie but I think “Boulder to Birmingham” describes the event.

Well, actually, me too. But an eclipse is such a nice excuse!
This comment points to the real way that anti-gay initiatives get out the Rethug vote. It is not only that the homophobia motivates Christianists. It is that being an election not for a candidate, the churchs are free to use all of their resources to get out the vote, drive people to polls, and otherwise motivate their flock to vote.

You must relax, little grasshopper. Become one with the zed.
I’m inbedded too. I purchased an overbed tray (bed desk :))for my laptop and it was the best thing I have bought in awhile. Rather than trying to balance it and getting the cords all messed up, this works perfectly.
Justin Rood for ABC News reports that “the White House will not identify a private company which appears to be involved in the disappearance of millions of White House emails.”

Hey, thanks for the thought Suzanne. Just listened to Old Man. And, that did it for me. It took me back to a magical time. It was a song that my female writing partner and I listened to alot while we wrote this faboo chick flick screenplay. Never sold it. Got close tho. I was working full time with three kids in three different schools and wrote two nights a week and Saturday. You ladies would love it. Took place in the 60’s. Two women who would never have gotten along anywhere else, but were “bunking” together in an all women prison in Mexico. Kinda Thelma and Louise meets My Fair Lady. Drugs, Sex, Nixon, DEA agents. Amazing tale.
I posted that article earlier. I’m not sure if it was truthout but the comment section was full of smart people telling the author that collecting the data/emails can definitely be done and easily. I don’t know how true it is because I’m not a techie, per se.

Sounds like it would be fun to do as radio theater.

That is the exact one I got. At night, I just shut down and roll it off to the side. I have a 17 1/2″ laptop and it swims on it. Then, the other little tray holds a mousepad, drinks, ashtray, candle, popcorn, etc.
ya know that company has got to be owned by a someone who does not want that connection known about. so many republicrooks out there to think of – the fact that it is wh connected has to be of some weight i think. otherwise, the wh wouldn’t go to all this trouble to try to have us not find out.
Mitch, since you don’t blog-whore here, I have to pimp for you.

Wow, I never thought of that.
I happen to be putting a radio theatre show together for a fundraiser for a mission charity. Did you read my mind?
(Suzanne, ready for me to name-drop? We had Lizbeth Rohm from Law and Order signed to play one of the leads… right B4 L&O. I went to her going away part in Topanga Canyon. Had more than one beer!)
Well, then you will love the fact that my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah was celebrated on the day before Cinco de Mayo, which, as everyone knows, is National Star Wars Day.

Pat – Both! Acually, some of our writing/actor friends told us we should have been writing That story.
And yeah, Grand Theft Parsons. Cool.

When fall comes, I get in a dreamy groove. Can’t explain but love what happens.
peanutbutter, the zed arrived around the time FDL was supported Ned Lamont and it kinda morphed into a mix of Ned, zero, zil, etc. at least that is what i think i remember – i could be totally wrong :)

Laura – me too. For me, it’s the lighting. Should be the similar to spring, but it’s better. And, all the star jasmine. Dreamy.

yeup, i remember those and the folks complaining about it.
And, for you, and GordonM- Cape Rosier, Harborside. That’s where I go. Only for a few weeks during the summer, but for many years.
Yeah, where Maine’s most famous Superfund cleanup site is! Right near the Nearings. Across from Castine.
GordonM- sorry I was off doing other stuff, so I didn’t read your reply in a timely way. I hope you are still up.
Oh yes, I know about the SuperFund site, indeed I do. Gotten to know many locals. One who was born and lived in house just overlooking the SuperFund site. Learned what it was like before and after the mining company came to Cape Rosier. I have learned quite a lot about local history.

You mean this kind of shit? The NSA has unbelievable amounts of CPU and storage capacity. Of course they can (and I’m a techie). The real point is that without at least a couple percent of the population on their payroll, they can’t do anything about it.
Think E Germany. Over 2% of the population was on Stasi’s direct payroll. Just to lay low, and watch their neighbors. Without that, all the high tech in the world don’t mean squat.
yeup, i remember those and the folks complaining about it.
So much complaining during the day. Way more than at night. I like the silliness at Late Night. I do. And the profundity.
Just got out of an absolutely fantastic women’s college volleyball match. Duke played brilliantly, but in the end USC’s size advantage was the difference.
Suzanne, I wrote a response to your email while I was standing in line to buy my ticket, but the iPhone is holding it hostage.
Time to put the top down for the drive home. Mother Nature must have read my homesick posts from late late night, because LA feels like NJ tonight.
I didn’t scroll all the way down to current comments, forgive me if redundant. This has been bothering me for awhile. Not the psychiatrists but the insanity that is Iraq and how it is damaging the psyches of the participants and victims. The Army Times reports on gangs in Iraq. Another soldier, sorry I don’t remember the citation, spoke about how soldiers were cutting themselves because they were feeling numb and needed to be in control somehow. I am sure there will be studies done, eventually, about just how psychologically devastating this endeavor will have been. The fact that the Services are lowering standards will exacerbate the damage. PeterK @ 113
I just stumbled across these comments while surfing and I was wondering if “zed” didn’t sprout from the last letter in the English alphabet in an ironic statement against the first/frister folk.
T-Rex & Kitties!!
cool!

dang-nabbit!
it is desperately hot and humid here…anything that sounds cool sounds great
*goes off to find another ice cold beer*
Directed splash please, Suzanne. Hot as hell here and no rain for over 2 weeks!

Evening, Ma Cheri! Aloha Ya’ll! TGIF!!!
TRex what video is that?

Hi TRex.
Shoot, I was out in the gayrage and missed the zed.
peanutbutter @ 12
But in south Louisiana in the summer it usually rains nearly every day in the afternoon. For some bizarre reason it has rained all over except at MY house. Literally within 1/2 a mile but not here. I’m beginning to get a complex.
wangdangdoodle @ 22
Is you Gayrage gay or lesbian or bi?
hey TRex!
and thanks for the splash Suzanne!
Gay rage?
I just tonight saw Sicko. I alternated between tears and anger!! And they screened an “opposing” viewpoints short film after, lasted 15 minutes or so, I walked outside (I am a volunteer so couldn’t leave the venue). What can we do to counter this shit?!?! I know I am on a university campus, but why do we think we have to show a counterbalancing viewpoint to people who paid for their movie tickets and weren’t forced to sit through it.
AARRGGHH.
EPU’d from the last thread:
Evening, Peterr, Cassie, madmommy, OKK Suzanne, and all! It’s a lovely night up here–65 and the rain just stopped, supposed to be 70 or so and sunny for the w/e. How are you all?
madmommy @ 24
Hmmm….the reverse of a thundercloud hanging over your head, eh?
Yeah, and in so Cal, that’s not unheard of, nothing for a year. But it was fairly dry the year before that, and so the fire hazard is truly delightful now.
And it always amuses me, as a child of the desert, to hear something like “nothing for two weeks!” :-)
SnarKassandra @ 24
No, it’s where I would park the truck if there was room. ;)
Did Senator Notgay resign? I been busy and ain’t looked much at the internets.

Evening Suz. Thanks for the cool splash! And, TRex, thanks for the cool tunes. Really cool.
Big Mitch do you also watch the NY Giants? Aunt Betsy LOVES that team.

Not yet but all the media (including KO) is reporting that he will tomorrow. Sniff!
We are currently at about 2/3 normal rainfall for the year.
tw3k @ 32
tw3ked out!
cleter @ 32
Those in the know say it will be tomorrow. Stillw aiting for the same outrage over Vitter. I think I’ll be waiting a while.
SnarKassandra @ 12

January is generally delightful, though sometimes a bit chilly in the evenings. We get 2 or 3 months a year when you do not become drenched in sweat upon walking out the front door.
Just kiddin’ there PeterK, but I do love cool weather and I can’t wait for fall here in the Old Dominion ;-)

I wonder if they will feel compelled to present an “opposing” viewpoint…
all normal again :)

I’m sorry Suzanne, I didn’t see your comment first

If you’re a Mainer, I defer (been here 30 years, but that doesn’t count). Which town are you in?
When I moved here from Colorado I drove across country in the middle of September. Took my time, visited my brother and got here at the end of the month. I called a friend to see how things were in the old neighborhood and she told me it was snowing. At the time I was sitting on the patio sweating like crazy drinking sweet tea like it was going out of style. She was not amused.
SALUDA, S.C. (AP) – The motorcade of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney exceeded speed limits and went through stop lights today as local law officers escorted him to campaign events in two South Carolina counties.

No, really…
did anyone else catch Bill Moyers tonight?

No. I already explained upthread.

wangdangdoodle @ 87
What did he do?
Suzanne @ 93
Oh, good. When did it come back on?
PeterK @ 90
It might have been because she had just gotten back from Hawaii. Quite the shock to the system.

wangdangdoodle @ 87
No. Give it up, WWD!
Is Cassie still around? Did she say whether or not she got the prezzie I sent her yet?
Hi TRex!!!!
TRex @ 91
Survived the first week of classes with flying colors. Looks like a pretty good group. On the other hand the smoke from the forest fires rolled back in yesterday and today. Could barely see the mountains a mile and a half away. Coughing & sneezing all the time and my eyes itch and burn constantly.
around 11pm last night TRex, after you left to go watch your movie.

TRex @ 102
Not yet. I will check again tomorrow. A real present or just the autograph?

HA! via TPM:
Tonight, Barry S. Edward, organizer of Rudy’s Reagan Day Dinner fundraiser in Pinellas County, stepped down from his position after his criminal record of extorting sex and trafficking in stolen state computers was revealed.
Edwards called the 1998 arrests “old news”, but decided to step down because “I’m not relevant and I shouldn’t be the story.”

And he threatened his student with bad grades….

The heat’s one thing but the humidity from AZ…stop it already…

nice odd news from Texas.

Notice he only spanked the girl – and not her male counterpart who would be considered to be equally quilty of any offense.

This is interesting:
Newspapers could see a drop in traffic redirected to their websites from Google News after a redesign of the site that will mean newswire stories carried by other publishers no longer show up in search findings.
Google said its new approach, which will drive readers to the original source, “not only enhances the experience for users, [but] also gives proper recognition to journalists and publishers who work hard to break the news”.

Hi Laura!

TexBetsy @ 298
Saw that one on RawStory today. Thought I had maxed my fuckery level, but NOOOOOOOO!!!

Oh, that’s corny.
But then, I love corny.

TexBetsy @ 330
People thought we were being silly. I should have said “some” people. They thought it was very juvenile because the first 10 posts said Fitz!
BigMitch @ 322
appreciative grrrrrooooooooooooaaaaannnn.
(thx!)
tex, folks would accuse other folks of hero worshiping fitz.
demi @ 333
I find myself oddly in sync with things….very nice.
We need heroes.
( waving at the commish — didn’t see you come in! )
Suzanne @ 339
Yeah, that’s the ticket.
ccmask @ 337
So now the first ten posts say zed. We have matured.
ccmask @ 307
You mean this kind of shit? The NSA has unbelievable amounts of CPU and storage capacity. Of course they can (and I’m a techie). The real point is that without at least a couple percent of the population on their payroll, they can’t do anything about it.
Think E Germany. Over 2% of the population was on Stasi’s direct payroll. Just to lay low, and watch their neighbors. Without that, all the high tech in the world don’t mean squat.
zedless thread upstairs
yeup, i remember those and the folks complaining about it.
So much complaining during the day. Way more than at night. I like the silliness at Late Night. I do. And the profundity.
Evening, all.
See y’all in about 90 minutes.
Late Late Nite FDL: Cooler Still

I just stumbled across these comments while surfing and I was wondering if “zed” didn’t sprout from the last letter in the English alphabet in an ironic statement against the first/frister folk.
