Yes, I saw that. September in DC is gonna rock! I just hope that others who feel the same way will actually be able to go. I’m stuck…and that makes the urge (and the outrage) difficult to deal with.

I’m stuck as well, its very frustrating. You could get together with groups of people who can’t make it to DC, and go to your state capital to protest there. I know that ANSWER is also still looking for people to help fund more buses so people who can’t afford to go can get on the bus anyway (like an “adopt a protester”). Flooding e mails, faxes, and phone lines with words of protest in lieu of physically being there is another good idea.

Scarecrow, great post. I’m new to FDL but I saw your post on Alternet so I came on over to have a look see. Unfortunately, its not surprising in the least bit to me.
I forgot to add, I think its laughable, but not funny that just a few short years ago Bush was quoted saying we had “No plans to attack Iran.”. And now, we do. Euorasia is our enemy, Euorasia is our ally… Sound familiar?

I think this is a very cynical two-fer for the Republicans. First, they get the war they want; second, by dragging the Democrats along, they are sure to peel a large number of disgusted voters away from the Dems in 2008.

I’m glad that people in the blogosphere have caught on to this. But, I’m ashamed that the democrats haven’t. I’ve known they were going to attack Iran since the axis of evil speech and subsequent invasion of iraq. The step to Iran was only a matter of time. If he could justify a pointless war in Iraq, he could definitely justify one in Iran. At least they have uranium. Still no weapons, but, hey 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.

I have no idea of how they are going to fight this war. I also don’t think that they realize the difficulties that this war will cause in creating peace in the middle east. If anything, we are probably on the gates of starting the third world war (or fourth, if you believe that the cold war was the third). I might need to start building that bomb shelter under my basement.

I think that the invading force into Iran should be those of us who have no health insurance in the US. That way, we won’t be so niave to expect good care from the VA once we get hurt, and no one will miss us, who matters, if we die.

Proof: the American aircraft carriers off Iran are still afloat.

It’s just as well Iran isn’t at war with the US. The US would lose such a war, especially after p*ssing its entire army down the Iraq sinkhole. Bombs do not win wars, not by themselves.

What a brilliant post–thank you, Scarecrow.

I am all in favor of a change in Democratic leadership. I fear that even with the best, most progressive Democrats representing us in the House and Senate, with these idiots in leadership positions, they won’t have much of a chance of getting anything meaningful done.

It would also, IMHO, be great to have a progressive president like Kucinich in charge, because he is not swayed by crap. He has always done the honorable thing, even with the Repubs. in charge, and he continues to do so. Right now he has HR 333 on the books to impeach Cheney, and HR 676 as a co-sponsor for single-payer, universal health care.

That would help.

I’ve been confident that Gates and the Joint Chiefs would stop a surprise attack. Now that we have learned that the White House submitted to congress a request for an additional $50 billion for the war and that Gates learned about it in the morning paper I guess my confidence was misplaced.

I guess Gates is going to do his Powell imitation. That is to be ignored and humiliated, and take it lying down.

I think the Democratic leadership is in on the Iran attack deal. It would explain their sheep-like behavior and it certainly makes Lieberman’s actions make sense (from his and the Israel point of view)
