I have been thinking about why we are being distracted these past few days. I am more frightened of this administration than I have ever been.
I heard only part of Thom Hartmann yesterday, and he and a guest were discussing the “declaration of war against Iran” and although I had not heard bush’s statement, I did not doubt it. I am leaving for work now, but I’ll try to read this post later this morning.

We harassed a bunch of Iranian government (or quasi-government) representatives in Baghdad. Big deal. Iran may be helping people who are fighting against us. Probably true, but that’s the least of our problems in Iraq. Sarkozy gave a tough speech about Iran’s nuclear program. That’s actually a good thing. The more united the West is in making it clear this is something that we take seriously, the more likely it is that we and Iran can reach a peaceful resolution. Bush’s saber-rattling? Counter-productive, because no one believes a word he says any more. And not just his credibility is shot — OUR credibility is shot.
