Even the ludicrous defense Craig is mounting (no pun intended) is jut based on the Republican dogma that homosexuality is what’s wrong and not the acts that Craig has engaged in. Someone needs to remind Craig (and all Republican gay-bashers) that what was wrong was the conduct of trying to engage someone for sex in a public place - regardless of sexual orientation. Somehow Craig is defending himself by saying “I am not gay”, but he was not arrested for being gay - he was arrested for lewd behavior. Is lewd behavior more “acceptable” of straight people than gay people? I don’t think so.

So, Senator Craig, shut up about being or not being gay. If you want to defend yourself then address your actions and stop attacking homosexuals as a way of trying to exculpate yourself. Being gay is not a problem (except for Republicans); on the other hand being a sexual predator is. Trying to “score” in a public bathroom is not acceptable regardless of sexual orientation.

Another topic for later on is risky sexual behavior (also not recommended for anyone regardless of sexual orientation).

Lindy @ 235

I’ve been sitting here thinking about all this. If my husband was soliciting sex in public areas from total strangers (male or female) in this day of killer STD’s, I would be seriously pissed. How can their wives stand that, not knowing what’s being brought into their homes and bodies? The only explanation I can come up with is that either they don’t know, or they figure the money is worth the risk…which pretty much establishes what they are.

Maybe she doesn’t think that she has any chance of being infected? I bet they “sleep in separate beds”.

Okay, he’s not “gay”… and we have no reason to believe this, do we?

He may be “gay curious”… or even “gay inquisitive” nay I say it even “gay investigative” but the most likely thing, and the one that has the most evidence to support it is that he is…

“Gay Obsessed”

Yes, the good Senator is obsessed with the gay lifestyle and is driven to explore its many aspects is order to satiate his compulsion.

I like that… Gay Obsessed…

Normally I would never tell anyone to hide, but T… you may be in danger of a drive-by ”incident” from some congressional GOP member as obsessed with the gay lifestyle as our good (for nothing) Senator here.

I watched the video of Craig’s press conference on C&L today, where he says he’s going to ask his counsel to advise him on what to do. Here’s some free advice for him: Stop going to airports to give blow jobs in public restrooms. Just do like Jeff Gannon and the rest of the Republican pervs, and do it at the White House.

55% In Idaho Say Craig Should Resign; Approval Rating Plummets
from The Full Feed from HuffingtonPost.com by The Huffington Post News Editors

55% in Idaho Say U.S. Senator Larry Craig Should Resign: Less than 36 hours after the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call first broke the story of Larry Craig’s arrest in an airport bathroom, 89% in Idaho are aware. SurveyUSA interviewed 600 Idaho adults the evening of 8/28/07 to measure initial reaction, including 475 registered voters who have heard the news accounts. Of Idaho voters, 55% today say Craig should resign. 34% say Craig should remain in office. 11% are not sure. Among Idaho Republicans, 45% say Craig should resign, 42% say Craig should remain in office. Democrats and Independents overwhelmingly say Craig should resign. There are many sides to a complex story, and as new facts come to light, opinions can be expected to change.

Job Approval for Craig down 26 Points to 34%: Among all Idaho adults, 34% today approve of Craig’s Job Performance, 58% disapprove. When SurveyUSA last recorded Job Approval numbers for Craig and fellow U.S. Senator from Idaho Mike Crapo, in November 2006, Craig had a 60% Job Approval, 26 percentage points higher than his approval today. Crapo had a 61% Job Approval in November 2006, identical to his Job Approval today. Over 19 consecutive months of tracking Craig, his SurveyUSA Job Approval among Idaho Republicans ranged from 71% to 82%. Today, among Idaho Republicans Craig’s approval is 46%. Among Idaho Conservatives, Craig’s Job Approval for 19 months ranged between 70% and 80%. Today, among Conservatives, Craig’s approval is at 51%.

How would it work if he resigns i.e. who nominates his successor? Will they have to hold a special election?

How can we stop the Dick from invading Iran?

Any chance the brass will stop such madness?

I have to agree with you, Steve. I wish I was as confident as some that he can’t get away with it, but I don’t see anyone in a position to stop him.

Only the Military can stop it now. The sudden increase in stories about arms deals and corruption may be push back. The big question is will the senior military stage a “soft coup”; mass resignations and speaking out. The Air Force won’t but Army and Marine officers might. If they don’t, they will be held accountable for the biggest military disaster in American History.

I just got chills when I heard that tone in his voice - that threatening, petulant, arrogant, ‘bring it on’ stuff. A lot of us have been predicting it for over a year, but now that it’s imminent, it’s terrifying.

My mom’s good friend was married to a minister. At one point, I guess he couldn’t handle a double life any more and told her about the men. And suddenly, the minister’s wife had to get test for HIV and other STDs. It took her a while to even have coffee with a man after that experience.
