Lane Hudson @ 97

TeddySanFran @ 31

TAS makes a great point; Michiganders on Lane Hudson’s blog also point out the GOPs made the change there as well, although Lane responds that Democratic state Senators all voted for the change even though the state party opposed it.

This is a GOP attempt to divide our party, make our national committee irrelevant, and alienate Florida and Michigan Democrats from our nominee. Howard Dean needs to fix this. It’s a GOP power grab, and our internal arguments about it are exactly what they want.

My point was really that I think Michigan Party Chairman Mark Brewer isn’t being completely honest about the whole thing. He worked really hard to have Michigan chosen as the early Primary State.

Now, he is playing coy with the process, only saying that it was a Republican bill that passed. He doesn’t say that it was a unanimous vote for the Jan.15 date. He only says that all the Dems voted against the final bill. (They voted against it after they voted for it….sound familiar?)

He also is failing to say that all the Dem Party Leaders had a conference call to agree in principle that they should take action to make Michigan’s Pres. Primary play a “significant” role in the nominating process.

If it were truly a renegade legislature that was out to screw the Dems, they would get the relief they needed from the DNC. However, in Florida, and especially in Michigan it’s not the case. Jennifer Granholm seems giddy about signing such a bill.

Hopefully, Mark Brewer will slow things down a bit because the DNC made it clear today that they’re not down with a free for all. In addition, Mark Brewer said to reporters that if everyone else respected the pre-window period, so would Michigan.

I’ve pretty much laid it all out here, but I’ve posted to a fuller extent at Huffington and News for the Left if you want to read more.

Thanks to Jane for covering this. I think it’s an important topic for us to get settled.

Problem is the whole system needs to be gutted and rebuilt. I want a constitutional amendment doing away with the Electoral College as well. right now we are trying to protect that “special place” Iowa and New Hampshire have in our primary system and other states are getting tired of game being over by the time they vote. If it weren’t for their early primaries and caucus’, neither one of these states would get a single visit.

But, if you want to tell me my vote has no impact on the system, don’t keep sending me requests for money. If you think Florida is an important state, treat it like one. What is next, Wyoming moves its primary to Thanksgiving weekend and Iowa and New Hampshire declare themselves the only Democratic Parties and the DNC disqualifies everyone elses delegates? F… New Hampshire and Iowa. If I had my choice it woud all be done in one day with a national vote using public funds and private contributions would be outlawed, especially corporate dollars.

The republican legislature passed a bill to move the Florida primary, and the republican governor signed the bill. And now my primary vote doesn’t count. Another self-destructive move by the DNC. I am changing my registration first thing Monday.

So, at least we now know what the conservative Republican “moles” in the Democratic Leadership Council are trying to do to subvert chances of the Democratic Party taking back the White House and expanding Democratic control of Congress next year…divide and conquer…probably on orders of Karl Rove.

Why else do the more conservative DLC-selected Blue Dog Democrats keep siding with Republicans, if not to subvert any coordinated Democratic opposition to the worst and most corrupt Republican administration in recent memory?

Howard Dean and the DNC’s “fifty-state strategy” has temporarily impeded Republican plans for permanent (and evil) conservative Republican control of our democracy, but only impeded.

This Republican goal has not changed, and the DLC-selected Blue Dog Democrats (who have the same mindset as ultra-orthodox conservative Republicans concerning the issue of abortion) are co-conspirators in this coordinated Republican plot to destroy our democracy, and all of our freedoms, in an attempt to establish a permanent theocratic hell.

But maybe some of the DLC-selected Blue Dog Democrats will surprise me? Maybe some of them will side with truth, justice and the American way instead of throwing in their lot with some of the most devious and evil people to have ever assaulted our nation’s freedoms…from within?

Thus, this Floridian Democratic ploy, in which they totally trash previous agreements within the Democratic Party (the party of liberty and justice for all), reeks of a Republican Party plot, hatched, I believe, between the increasingly irrelevant DLC and Karl Rove’s political chop-shop.

So why does it sound like folks are blaming Howard Dean and requiring him to “fix this” when it is a problem created by power grabbing Republics?

I do not understand.

Not only that, but the rules committee voted to snaction Florida. How much power does Dean have over that?

1,577 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND..

Citizen Loo Hoo and the Firepup Patriots:

“I think we need a bid Saturday get together, nationwide. Like the immigration marches only much larger. All well organized and peaceful.”

Yes indeed, I think you are on to somepthin’ there, citizen Loo Hoo…but remember that any mass demonstration that is inclusive, well organized and expresses the will of a majority of Americans will be turned violent by the police and the oligarchy. Do not be naive, if we have learned anythin’ from the Veteran’s Army of the 1920’s to the civil rights marches of the 1960’s and 70’s to the 1968 Democratic Convention, it is that direct action works but will always be at a cost of police violence against the citizenry. I am convinced that the non-violent demonstrations at the 1968 convention (that’s right, they were well organized and overtly non-violent) led to the ending of the war but the cost was thousands of broken bodies in the street, the election of Richard Nixon, the marginalization of a whole generation of young people and the abandonment of my brother and sister veterans who I consider “The Greatest Generation”.

That is the price we must be willing to pay goin’ in…we can make the outcome different from 1968 but the worst case is that our bodies will be broken but the war will end and , most importantly: we will be able to look our children and history in the eye!!

Yes, dear Loo Hoo, we gotta “get together” nationwide and be willin’ to “just say no” and be willin’ to take the consequences…that’s “the price of freedom, buried in the ground” at Arlington and in unmarked graves all across mankind’s history.

KEEP THE FAITH AND REMEMBER YOU DON’T NEGOTIATE WITH FASCISTS!!
