I guess Jules is saying that there’s no civilized society in Africa, no Asians (outside Japan) who can read and write, no Brazilians who can chew with their mouths closed, no Indians who are respectful of their elders . . .

Sorry, ed — Jules is playing the race game, saying that if white America doesn’t step up to the bed and breed, we’re going to end up like white Europe and become irrelevant.

And of course we local African-Americans, Hispanics and what not can’t possibly hold progressive ideas, and aren’t doing enough to keep society going. Same ideas that some Europeans have: that progressive and modern civilizations must have white people with white skins to keep progressive. There are black and asian and Hispanic New Agers, you know. Good ideas are good ideas: how else does society progress if good ideas depend upon race.

Interesting it is that they don’t say the same about religion. Jesus was a Jew and more likely genetically related to the folks in Africa and Iraq than any Scandanavian or British person. Yet nobody says that minorities can’t be Christian, that Christianity is just for white people, that minorities can’t absorb Jesus’s love for the needy. Its just all the other ideas according to them can’t jump racial barriers.

Luckily, I believe in reincarnation, in which the swampers end up being “born again” among the swampees, and the swampees end up being “born again” among the swampers, in one grand, celestial merry-go-round of madness and mayhem.

Of course, I can’t prove anything (no more than anyone can disprove it) but it just might explain Clarence Thomas.

This is the key phrase that makes the rest of the essay deeply offensive. He isn’t simply encouraging people to go out and breed in order to perpetuate their worldviews (which would be a plenty stupid assertion all by itself.)

He’s made a judgment here that certain people are morally required to have as many babies as they can. And look at the criteria — it’s straight-up classism (which in the US is tightly correlated with racism). He’s telling rich people to have more kids or the poor folks are going to overrun their asses and take their stuff. (Maybe in the form of repealing that rich-people tax cut?)

But if rich people take his advice to heart, then they won’t be rich for very many generations. Maybe he’s really advocating an underhanded way of redistributing wealth.

In any case, he completely ignores that there are too damn many people on this planet. How can adding more be considered a virtue, unless your concern is that there won’t be as many people who look like you? And that is racism. Really, it’s the only way I can make sense of what he says. What other interpretation can there be? Yours doesn’t quite fit.
