A serious question. Does using the soldiers in this ad violate any army regulations? Isn’t there something about not appearing in uniform to support a political position? Or doesn’t this count?

I suggest leaving it alone. The soldier has suffered enough and now he’s doing bidness with Bush — it can’t get much worse than that.

Ari’s ad includes a phone number — 877-222-8001 — to “call your congressman”. Instead you get Freedoms Watch who asks if you support surrendering to terrorism in Iraq. If you answer “correctly” you get switched to Congress, if not, they hang up on you. I called the number and told the woman who answered that she should be ashamed of herself for promoting war and death — she said she was just doing her job and had been getting hundreds of calls like mine all day!

Let’s all give the phone # a call!

Interesting that two of these guys are wealthy Las Vegas gambling magnates.

One thing about them…no matter how deep you are in the hole they want to keep you at the table to extract even more blood…usually by telling you that your bad luck is suddenly gonna turn for the good.

“C’mon, just a few more rounds…things have been so bad that you can’t have such bad luck forever…and you did ALMOST WIN the last hand.”

Heard that these are 501-C4 organizations(rather than the more closely monitored 501-C3’s).

That means these organizations can raise money without listing their donors or the amounts donated for their causes. Which means that political campaigns might be inundated by more “negative” advertising this fall.

From Minnesota Monitor story on Dec. 6, 2006 about Sgt. Kreisel, who had been in the military for eight years, having been injured, losing both legs and being rendered unconscious in the IED bombing in Fallujah:

“According to a statement given to KSTP-TV, Kriesel’s father, John Kriesel, said his son “believed in everything and he was a good soldier.”

Hastert didn’t want to run last time- rove talked him into it. People who have been speakers rarely want to go back to plain ol congresscritters.

I don’t think he resigned- just said that he won’t run again.

This is the time for making these kind of statements- so that someone else can prepare to run for the seat.

punaise, one of my friends just got back from France last night. She spent some time in Deuville (sp?) and emailed me that she saw Omar Sharif in person.

that would be Deauville, famous beach town in Normandy. (pronounced, Simpsonesquely, as D’oh-veal)
