Melissa Bean relies heavily on Jan Schakowsky’s organization. Without Jan’s help getting the grassroots working for her, Bean would have lost.

If you live in Jan’s district tell her to put the squeeze on Bean.

I donated to Ciro. But I won’t be doing that again. He is not the only Blue America candidate I dropped a gift in the collection plate for, and not the first to disappoint. (I’m looking at you Congressman McNerney.)

I have been polled a number of times. I have done nielsen a couple times. I have done the in depth Census Bureau thing once (it involves a visit at least every six months, and extremely intrusive personal questions). They tried to tell me I had been “randomly” selected a 2nd time and by law had to comply. I said “try me”. They didn’t.

I was called and asked to respond to questions about our governor’s race in 2006. From the questions, my guess is that it was paid for by our Governor, who was trying to get re-elected. My far left responses to the questions and some of my additional comments had the questioner laughing at one point. I remember getting a call back during the Clinton years as well, but that was national. I know that polls vary greatly. Some feature loaded questions to produce a bias in the responses, like Fox. Is there a national poll that has a reputation for not leaning either left or right?

and in the last thread, the pink tool thing……i worked outside for the phone company, and i had my own tools……and the guys i worked with gave me tools i might need when i was starting out, and i did the same when i was there longer to the new people i trained……so, i don’t know about the girl you had to train, but in my experience, i was able to do it, and the guys i worked with showed me that every day………

Yes everyone new got some of my older tools. It has cost me a small fortune over the years but I am sure the tradition is being carried on.

I am a traditional Democrat.

OKK - I’m not sure I agree. It depends on what you mean by “traditional.”

In 1963, for example, a traditional democrat was someone like John Stennis or Howard Eastland, both staunch defenders of racial segregration.

At that time, a republican was not necessarily a right-wing nutcase.

Earl Warren, for example, had been the republican governor of Callfornia.

He gave us a bunch of civil rights and individual liberties decisions.

I am speaking here in a general sort of way. I am for diplomacy, a strong defense, a Square Deal, a Fair Deal among many other things. Things such as the right of workers to organize, single payer, universal medical care, strict environmental regulations, free day care, quality schools, a quality DOJ, stem cell research, right to privacy, gay rights, pro-choice, public financing of elections, equal pay, worker safety, redistribution of wealth, and minority rights. I am for human rights and personal responsibility. I am against NAFTA, CAFTA, the WTO, outsourcing, monopolies, junk bonds and leveraged buyouts, and so many other things. And I am for getting out of Iraq. I am a traditional Democrat. A Democrat with common sense, a strong sense of civic duty, empathy, and hopefully, real and genuine compassion. I am talking philosophy here. I do not subscribe to the Hobbesian concept of do unto others before they do unto you. I believe in the not outdated idea of the golden rule. This for me is what a ‘traditional Democrat’ is all about. Not what the Democratic Party has evolved to.

Lets not be too cynical about these Bush Dogs-all Dogs
roll around in scat of other animals as an instinctual
act. Most politicians sell themselves out at some point.
Money and access corrupt equally. Those newly elected
Bush Dogs need to have minders tag along with them
to keep them honest. Focus on defeating Republicans and
putting a training collar on the Bush dogs.
