Saw the show- the guy is totally worthless- shows with guys like him are totally worthless- all they do is shout incoherently- and talk over any sane comments. Waste of time.

If those are the best talking heads Tweety can find for a balanced dialog then please take him off the air. He was great helping cultivate the Libby controversy into a real story, but since has fallen flat on his face.

It’s pretty difficult to categorize Tweety. He is pretty adamant in his condemnation of the war and the Bushie’s but he also does this deferential dance that he thinks make him appear neutral.

You are correct, imho. Matthews wasn’t pissed about the narrative, he was pissed that Williams had taken the narrative somewhere Matthews had to rein in. Much easier to have guests on who support the carefully crafted and correct narrative without coloring outside the lines, which the “botox” line was — on several levels.

Tweety is totally transparent. He has an audience that includes both goopers and dems- everything he does is calculated to keep both halves of the audience. This means sometimes sayin things that dems love- and at other times comin on pure gooper.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that caught that. It really seemed like Matthews was not upset at all by the comment in particular but rather by how it took him off mission of deconstructing the logic-based Democratic position that had just been advanced in a professional and non-juvenile way.

I must have an odd sense of humor. It took me almost a minute to stop laughing after reading the article. The references to vanity, coupled with the subject’s outrageously unprovable assertion that “every military advance we have made” has somehow been ruined by Democratic blowhards (as if they’ve been able to change anything in DC lately) is almost more sublimness than I can handle today.

For morgan and williams only their fan cheer them on. I would gues that most listeners would find them tedious to the extreme. morgan’s face is reflection of her soul.

Only his lips move. The rest of his face is immobile. It reminds me of the old Clutch Cargo cartoons.

OK and sorry (not!) to say this, but Katie Couric has had alot of snip and stitch. That face is frozen in time, like Nancy Reagon….

I’ve been trying to find a clip of the end where Matthews starts to say something about how much he hates this war… my TiVo stopped taping before the end and none of the YouTube clips go all the way to the end either, dammit.

Anyway, WRT Williams, the amazing thing to me was how completely sane and even-handed Paul Hackett was, talking before Williams, and then Williams launched into his rant and he sounded really loony. I mean, he sounds loony all on its own, but coming after Hackett it was like being slapped.

Also agree that Naomi Wolff was great, very calm and able to keep to her own points and not get pulled off-message by Morgan, who is a harpy.

Botox is almost a requirement for anyone in the teevee biz nowadays; it took a radio person to pierce the veil and mention it. Clearly Matthews was not happy to have the subject raised at all.

I think not enough credit has been given to Naomi Wolf for her expert handling of Melanie (my lips a bleeding) Morgan. Ms. Wolf, unlike many progressives didn’t take the bait when this saggy poor excuse for a talking point tried to change the subject and divert attention from the discussion at hand. She got back on topic and proceeded to hand Lips her untucked ass. Every person from our side who goes on shows like this should study this clip. Notice Ms. Wolf doesn’t try to out shout the opposition (a futile exercise at best) but argues from a position of strength; hey, when the facts are on your side, you don’t need to shout. If you are the toughest SOB in the room, you don’t need to tell everyone. Ever meet a man less than 5 feet tall who didn’t have “a black belt in karate?

Melanie Morgan is not mature. I’m glad she represents the reich wingers of this country. She’s a perfect fit for them. I really expected her to say, “Oh yeah! Well, nana nana boo boo!”, at one point.

I was following the Susan Collins stuff on the Mainer websites today, and they have up the stuff about Kos writing the stuff on her blog, basically to incite or to show her supporters as jerks. They have the Ip # etc. But I thought I read here, that someone had traced the numbers to a Maine account (therefore not Kos). If true someone should get that onto the Mainer sites.

I cannot stomach the man – even the short clips I see on Crooks and Liars is enough to make my gorge rise. I refuse to watch these idiots, even to rebut what they say.

Williams may be a popinjay, but he speaks to a powerful emotion, patriotism. He claims objections to the war encourage the insurgents to continue the insurgency. This although were roles reversed and the Iraqis invaded us, we would do what they are doing perhaps minus the beheadings. Enough fellow citizens buy Williams’ argument that all but two Democratic candidates pussyfoot around what they would do about the war. To say it was all wasted is too bitter a pill for many of us to swallow.

Our goal should be to relabel the war as Bush’s war, not an American war. We might begin by encouraging the Democrats in Congress not to give Bush a standing ovation when he addresses Congress which he will do in January and not to applaud anything he says. Would this act be considered as disrespectful of the office or the man? That’s the question and that’s why the Dems who so fear offending anyone will not muster the courage for even so small a protest.
