Terence Blanchard played a lot of that at Jazzfest this year and it was the best thing that I saw happen there. He is the real deal, cares deeply about his home town and is making imaginative new music rooted in NOLA tradition.

That’s some good news.

Sadly, I believe there will be NO reckoning. They will get away with it and they will get a new jobs and they will get jobs from the people at the think tanks and they will get invited back to talk about their experiences as ‘experts’ on TV.

At least that is the story with the people who sold us the war. I expect the same for these people.

Justice and accountability is So last Century.

Hah! I’m back. Had to make note of my previous comment. It was a tornado that devastated the town, not a flood. Still no name though.

Well that’s how long it took. Had to wait for the video to finish because to refresh beforehand would make it stop wherever and never load the rest of the way. When I hit submit comment, the little wheel spun and spun and…

Now I’m here and the thread is done. NOT MY DAY!

This morning on GMA they did a report on some other more recent flood area (I didn’t catch the location)

FEMA came through just fine.
Insurance came through just fine.
Trailers came through just fine.
They’re rebuilding a better community. This time they’re going green.

Katrina: This disaster was ENHANCED on purpose.

Ok. I’m moving on. Maybe the next thread will be better.

Dallas at 111 — Wish I could take credit for the video, but it isn’t mine. It was made by some students in LA at a school for performing arts who hosted a benefit concert for Katrina victims and put the video together for the concert. It’s amazing, isn’t it?

Made it over to work in record time- before I devote my day & evening to the stuff they pay me for…

(((((((QuakerGirl))))))) Prayers to your family & friends. Huge admiration for their tenacity in the face of all that’s happened to them.

I was just down a few wks ago in NOLA picking up a friend’s auntie, uncle, & kids for a funeral up in Baton Rouge- the neighborhood where they’re living still looks & smells the same as the last time I visited a yr. ago. They got out & got their elderly neighbors out, but the pets didn’t make it. All you ever see on tv seems to be the Quarter & how great the tourist traps look- why don’t they go down near the levees & see the real deal…

The lady who passed away was my friend’s mom, a woman of amazing strength & faith. She housed members of her family from NOLA & as many of their friends as she could up in Baton Rouge- some are still there, unable to find the resources to go home.

Some days I get so angry I can’t see straight thinking about GWB’s little speech in front of St. Louis Cathedral, & how it all meant nothing to him but a photo op & afterward they took down the lights & left Jackson Square in darkness. Other days I can post a calm comment like the one I did above. And there will be a reckoning someday for those who carpetbag in the Katrina aftermath. La. folks have real long memories.

Incredible video; I am fighting tears as I write. Thank you for making this; I wish everyone in this country–especially every Republican–would see it.

Ack!! This is so frustrating. I’m on dialup, can’t refresh the page because the video is STILL loading and there’s no refresh comments button. Hoping to get it when this comment goes through.

Have a few comments to make but don’t want to repeat others so I want to see where we are.

Hopefully will get the button back when I post this…no preview button either. *sigh*
