Late Late Nite FDL: Come on, Angel

By: TRex Friday August 10, 2007 10:01 pm

I never realized quite how sexy this Kate Bush song was until now. Sometimes a cover song brings you a whole new appreciation of the original. The lovely, haunting video was made by Placebo's fans, who the band asked to film themselves singing the song and send it in.

Late Nite FDL: In Which Our Evil Plan is Working

By: TRex Friday August 10, 2007 8:00 pm

Greg Sargent points us to Neil Cavuto's plea to Democrats to stop treating Pox News like it has cooties. It's kind of pitiful, really. Sargent: Best Cavuto quote: "Our offer still stands for any of them to come on this show at any time." This is very good -- a simple and elegant way for Dems to keep grinding the network's nearly nonexistent credibility deeper and deeper into the dirt.

Desperation

By: Eli Friday August 10, 2007 6:01 pm

Well, thanks to the RNC, I finally get to write a non-depressing post. Because as self-destructively clueless as the Democratic Party is, they're still in better shape than the party that wants to keep the Iraqupation going forever. Check this out: What 83 year-old William Sidwell of Queen City, Missouri found in his mailbox last week scared him.

Patriotism Worth Its Name

By: Lewis Z. Koch Friday August 10, 2007 4:32 pm

Patriotism worth its name grants the highest priority to the nation, not the Chief Executive, and knows the difference between the two. Louis Fisher and I have two interests in common: Jose Padilla and tennis. Fisher happens to be one of the nation’s foremost authorities on arbitrary imprisonment and stretching presidential power and is a senior scholar in the Law Library at the Library of Congress and author of more than a dozen

The Spin I’m In: Have You Ever Seen “The Rain”?

By: Donita Sparks Friday August 10, 2007 3:15 pm

I’ve been transfixed with this “Chocolate Rain” phenomenon on YouTube ….. for hours, just trying to take it all in. I went to bed with it in my head last night and woke up with it still in there. I’m going back for more viewings when I finish this piece (but that’s just how I roll). Ok, “Chocolate Rain” is a song/video clip by a Minneapolis grad student named Tay Zonday, who

Invisible Women

By: Jane Hamsher Friday August 10, 2007 1:30 pm

I really don't want to go here again but a very self-serving notion has taken off regarding the blogosphere in the MSM, namely that the liberal blogosphere is a male dominated boys club. In support of this, Ellen Goodman today has to erase us and other female bloggers from the landscape in order to make her point.

Things are Looking Up in Iraq

By: Siun Friday August 10, 2007 11:52 am

Or so they say. Among the folks who are in complete agreement with the O’Hanlon and Pollack upbeat reports – which followed their Pentagon organized, funded and … chaperoned tour of Iraq: KBR gets Iraq bonus Halliburton Co.’s former Kellogg, Brown & Root unit, the largest contractor in Iraq by work orders, earned little more than half the bonus available under its $2.5 billion no-bid contract to rebuild Iraq’s oil infrastructure, a government audit
