Add this to the John Linder file labled “wingnut irrelevance”:
MARK HALPERIN: That kind of video gets the net roots totally in a lather. They hate Michael Moore. They like the jab. They like the cigar. It‘s a total winner.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: So there is a right-wing net roots as well as a left-wing net roots?

This time, no talking about the Yankees, okay?
Okay, but they may be the best team of all time.
This Yankee team, or the Yankees over the decades?
well, both.
Shhhhh. Here’s comes the others.
Dang, this place is still hopping. I just ran into the MSNBC guy (young, blonde) and said Hi. He said he was glad to know people are watching. I told him ESPECIALLY KEITH. He invited me to the debate tomorrow night. It’s here in Chicago?
heehee….and their Mommies dress them funny
CHRIS MATTHEWS: So there is a right-wing net roots as well as a left-wing net roots?
Priceless. Really. bwwwwahhhhhhhhh

BigMitch @ 7
Uh, Mitch, you do realize that the problem is not so much when you talk to yourself but when you answer yourself.
Hay Jane, I hope Kobe is having a great birthday complete with a party hat and cake.
Jane,
You were great on CNN yesterday. Just think – in three years you’ll be interviewing the people from CNN and NBC and so on here, or something like it. That’s how fast it’s going to happen.
dakine01 @ 13
Heh!!!
Does anyone have the link for Alfred’s blog? Please?
Tweety doesn’t even know they exist?
So, the wing nut welfare that props some of ‘em up was, like, wasted? A bad investment?
Oh.
Millineryman @ 14
And Jane, what did he get?
That photo shows a party from the night before those guys entered military service, right? They are anxious to answer the call to duty from the Preznit…probably in the same way that the Bush family answers the call: getting drunk but not anything else.
It’s curious why such behavior is acceptable to Republics.
Steenkin Jankees!
I did hear a substantive discussion (at YK2?) about why the right doesn’t have netroots, which argued that they have churches & a better organized ground operation, as well as other ways to raise $$, so they’ve had no need for it.
When I went to The Cheesecake Factoery in Chicago, they had a Kobe Sandwich on the menu. Any relation Jane?
A friend and I also went to Andy’s Jazz in midtown Chicago for lunch and it was great. Jazz at noon and a Reuben.

Dregs like that show up here, I’m leaving….we can do a lot better.
It’s kind of sad, but at least they look like they are having fun.
James? WTF?
Before the web and before the Daily Show, American politics had no attention span–the story 20 minutes ago did not have to match the story now.
The Right can’t use the web, because “making shit up” is the opposite of “looking shit up.”
Loo Hoo. @ 31
If people from CNN, MSNBC, and other media outlets were to be interviewed here, I wouldn’t waste my time.
I don’t watch them or listen to them now and i come here to escape their irrelevance…why would I want to see this site or any other site lending MSM losers any credence?
Look at my response in context to the comment from ET.
What did you think I meant?
Is the guy on the left in the picture related to Rove?

Relax, he was referring to the dregs, such as Tweety , F*cker, and Wolfie!!! *g*

Okay, James, sorry. I read it as dregs like ET…
Hello?

Feigold checks in:
After all the wrong-doing by this administration, it was disheartening to see Congress bow to its demands one more time. But there is a silver lining to that dark cloud. The Democratic leadership in both the House and the Senate proposed alternative bills that addressed legitimate concerns about foreign-to-foreign communications while also doing a better job of protecting innocent Americans than what the administration was proposing. In particular, Majority Leader Reid, Intelligence Committee Chairman Rockefeller, and Armed Services Committee Chairman Levin responded to specific concerns a number of us raised about a draft Democratic proposal in the Senate. The resulting Senate Democratic bill was far from perfect, but it was vastly better than the administration’s proposal.
I am also encouraged by Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s call for fixing this flawed legislation as soon as Congress reconvenes in September. We should not delay passing a bill that will end Alberto Gonzales’s six-month, oversight-free surveillance holiday. The president will undoubtedly oppose these efforts and the Republicans in the Senate will no doubt filibuster any efforts to reinstate judicial involvement and tighten the controls around the president’s eavesdropping authorities. In the face of that expected opposition, Democrats will need to stick together this time to fix the mess that we just created. And at least some Republicans will have to be convinced to support the Constitution.
Clearly, this will be an uphill fight. But it’s a fight worth having. Our constitutional rights should not be sacrificed to scare tactics. Congress must stand up to the president. The sooner that Democrats realize that standing tough on national security doesn’t mean giving into the administration, the better off they – and the country – will be.
BigMitch @ 41
Everybody bailed to read all the Linkies!!!
dakine01 @ 13
Don’t worry about a thing, Mitch. I figure that talking to yourself *and* answering are just fine, so long as an argument doesn’t break out.
How it feels if Jesus comes back and yer not included?
rwcole @ 43
I love Russ!!! 8-)
I really admire how Feingold keeps the glass half full.
jayt @ 45
LOL!!!
rwcole @ 43
So Pelosi wants to change the “flawed” legislation when Congress reconvenes in September. Now what is going to change from now until then? Will Bush have an epiphany and no longer use fear as a political tactic? Will the Democrats all have spinal transplants during the recess? One thing history teaches is that rights taken away are not easily reinstated. It now looks like the reinstitution of habeas corpus is in trouble. What does that tell you?
It’s OK if an argument breaks out- AS LONG AS IT DOESN’T BECOME PHYSICAL.
jayt @ 45
Pooh: Where are you going, Piglet?
Piglet: That’s what I’m asking myself. Where…….where?!!
Pooh: And what do you think you will answer yourself?

Sure would be happier if they’d filibustered this thing. Russ is sugar-coating what Pelosi and Reid let happen as a way of deflecting the anger that’s being directed at them.
You send out the kid to mediate who has the ear of the group that’s the most pissed off.
rwcole @ 43
Feingold should be ashamed of himself. I am.
heads up-
the lehrer newshour on pbs is doing a segment on ykos…….coming up……
What’s interesting about the photo is that there is likely a similar photo of Karl Rove taken during the Nixon administration. People probably laughed and poked fun of the porky conservative nerd. And now look where he is. As close to Bush as Goebbels was to Hitler. Yeah these guys look like real jerks but unless the Republican Party along with their neo-con philosophy is completely discredited and assigned to the dust bin of history these two true believers will probably hold positions of real power in the future.
Meanwhile- back in Ol Baghdad- the president’s plan is pickin up steam:
——————————————————————————–
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s political crisis worsened Monday as five more ministers announced a boycott of Cabinet meetings _ leaving the embattled prime minister’s unity government with no members affiliated with Sunni political factions.
Meanwhile, a suicide bomber killed at least 28 people in a northern city, including 19 children, some playing hopscotch and marbles in front of their homes. And the American military reported five new U.S. deaths: Four soldiers were killed in a combat explosion in restive Diyala province north of the capital Monday, and a soldier was killed and two were wounded during fighting in eastern Baghdad on Sunday.
The new cracks in Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s government appeared even as U.S. military officials sounded cautious notes of progress on security, citing strides against insurgents linked to al-Qaida in Iraq but also new threats from Iranian-backed Shiite militias.
That flawed legislation we passed yesterday needs to be changed pronto!
How stupid does Speaker Pelosi think we are?
If it is flawed YOU DON’T PASS IT!

The amnesty for past violations of FISA law bothers the hell out of me. Once it is granted, can it be repealed without violating the ex post facto clause? I don’t know.

Agreed but you have to admit the guy is working with very few others who will support him.

It’s not gonna work with me. Does anyone in DC do anything except lie? There will be no amendments. There will be no fight. There will be no habeas corpus.
This congress will not get anyone out of Iraq.
I need to go read the big book for a little while and then head off for a meeting.

More Russ:
It should go without saying, but it’s important to repeat: every member of Congress supports wiretapping terrorists. And no one thinks that the government should have to get a court order to listen to communications between suspected terrorists in foreign countries, even if those communications happen to pass through the U.S. The FISA bill Congress passed late last week was the latest example of the administration exploiting a legitimate problem to make an outrageous power grab – and unfortunately, it was also just the latest example of Congress giving in to the president’s fear-mongering. The very last thing we should be doing is granting this administration — and this Attorney General in particular — more authority to conduct wiretaps without adequate judicial supervision. It is the abuse of power by this administration that is one of the main reasons this president and attorney general should be

Score more points for Feingold! To some extent, he’s putting lipstick on a pig, but at least he’s focusing on how to fix one of the worst bills in a decade. Last October’s MCA and this FISA bill are the two worst bills since 2002, anyway, ranking right up there with the AUMF, IMHO.
Bob in HI
rwcole @ 74
That’s just unbelievable. How can he imagine that this is not going to make people MORE angry? He’s saying all this is obvious AND they let it happen anyway.
And “every member of Congress supports wiretapping terrorists” ~ he’s drinking the koolaid!
We aren’t going to find any non-existent terrorists by wiretapping terrorists who don’t use electronic networks!
EVERYTHING we have been told about terrorists is coming from LIARS!

Exactly,
This was the almost the exact replay of the AUMF vote.
Instead the “mushroom cloud” story was told in hushed tones by Adm. McConnell to the wavering Democrats.
I mean what red-blooded American would want a mushroom cloud to go off and then have George W. Bush go on TV and say–”If only they listened to me and let me have the powers I had asked for this wouldn’t have happened.”
It is the exact same thing over again.

I wish I knew who I was listening to on NPR today talking about the FISA capitulation. Can anyone help me, here?
Anyway, someone, who I assumed was a member of the House, said that the telephone companies were lobbying for retro-active immunity, too.
There’s so much that is bizarre about this. For one thing, the pitch to Congress was that this suddenly became necessary, what with chatter etc. How much time did the telephone industry have to get their lobbying position together and to implement that strategy, before Congress got the word from the White House?
I don’t fault the Dems for being scared of an attack, and being blamed for it. They ought to be scared of an atack, period. But the solution was to pass the bill they worked out with McConnell, DCI, and then let Bush veto it if he wanted to. I think he was bluffing.
Loo Hoo. @ 87
God Bless Marcy! Someone we can trust! But will this congress do anything about it? I just can’t believe they will.
Eureka Springs @ 80
Good idea; transcipts of his shows when he has on Melanie Morgan, or Ann Coulter surely qualify.
No wonder the right doesn’t believe in evolution after seeing that picture I have to admit that I see no proof of evolution.

After living in the fact free O’Reily nospin zone people also devolve get violent and then they post their favorite violent fantasies on Bill’s web site.

The right-wing netroots aren’t there to organize or discuss, so much as they are there to reinforce the message already being spewed by the A-list media propagandists such as Limbaugh.
They do serve as a means of road-testing certain themes, but the e-mails passed among the righty groups — the ones that pass on the stories, racist urban legends, and other things even the guys who run LGF don’t dare post for fear of giving the game away — are much more important in terms of transmitting (dis)information.
For instance: I have a friend whose biological father runs a gun shop and hangs out with militia members. He occasionally tries to send some of it to my friend; my friend zaps most of it almost immediately, but does save some of the choicer stuff. (”Bush’s ‘Resignation’ Speech” has to be read to be believed. Un. Real.)
Elliott, I said that Giuliani IS a creep.
I take it your dad wasn’t a creep.

As much as I like Sen. Feingold, I’m significantly less than thrilled to hear “yes, it’ll be an uphill fight, but let’s try to fix it in September” after Congressional Democrats have just let the country slide yet another hundred feet down the slope.
Going into last year’s election, all I could think was: What’s it going to be like if the Democrats do get control of Congress using a strategy that amounts to “Let’s sit on our hands, not take risks by obstructing the Republicans, and simply wait for them to screw up so badly that the country turns to us out of sheer desperation rather than because we’ve earned it”?
Like this, apparently. Really.Not.Pleased.
These young Republicans remind me of the babies that get dressed up to look like old men. The young conservatives are so intent on looking the part and dressing like Robert Novak to prove they are for real.
Yeah, the tie in the mouth thing is a little gay, but there’s nothing wrong with that… unless you’re a Republican, of course.

Looking at history they are taking a page out of the opponents in the Reichstag who took a wait and see attitude toward the new Chancellor. The people eventually fell in love with their Fuhrer and the opponents had lost any opportunity they might have had. Many Americans are fascists at heart just waiting for that moment in history when they can give it full expression. I imagine Karl Rove is working on just that moment.

Fortunately Bushco has committed so many high crimes and misdemeanors that there will be other nails to hang them on, and for impeachment purposes, an article of impeachment does not have to be based on a crime.

Cabinet setback as Iraqi MPs quit
Five Iraqi MPs have announced a boycott of cabinet meetings, deepening the political crisis and leaving the unity government without any Sunni members.
The ministers, who are loyal to former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, blamed what they said was the Shia-led government’s failure to end sectarian favouritism.
The Iraqiya List ministers included Sunni and Shia Muslims and a Christian.
Iraq’s largest Sunni-Arab bloc, the Accordance Front, withdrew six ministers from the cabinet last week.
So far this year, 17 government ministers – nearly half of the cabinet – have either suspended their participation or quit.
My Chicago pics are now up on Facebook, if anyone is interested….Here.

But this congress will not be bringing articles of impeachment against anyone. Not even for an ‘open & shut’ case which they will not get in the face of bogus executive privilege claims which they will not be able to overturn.
They will not even censure anyone ~ which is a pointless exercise: oh they were bad so we’ll say they were bad and everyone will know they were bad and no will will do the bad things they did. Isn’t that also a Feingold calculation?
Impeachment. Not. Gonna. Happen.

They only meet once a month? Do any of these people take their jobs seriously?
Damnit. This is why the GOP has run us over, put it in reverse and run over us again. They have more meetings and conventions than you can shake a stick at. Grover Norquist has had weekly meetings for years, there’s breakfasts with think tankers and members of the House and Senate, all that kind of stuff, all the time.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
I just wanted to note that Andrew and Caroline Giuliani do not support their father’s campaign. The 21 year old son does not seem to be a hypocrite, as he pursues a Golf career. Rudy is of course a warmonger for Iraq.
Caroline had her facebook page hijacked. But she supports Barack for President. Messy divorces are tragic, but you have got to be a fairly poor father to alienate your children.
