It must have been a nervous moment for some old-line reporters, watching this group of unknown bloggers who they previously thought of only as DFH, high on snark, and then watch them beat the pants off the dozens of regular reporters. What must they have thought as they realized here was a group of highly intelligent, incredibly well informed and diligent Americans digging into every detail, reading the pleadings, doing their jobs in ways they no longer understood. Who were these people, blogging the trial not just with Q&A summaries but instant analysis, context, meaning, and commentatry filled with insights and relevance — and a picture.

Brilliant!

It was Shelly Snook, working with Judge Walton, who worked out the unprecedented arrangements that brought this blogging Trojan Horse within the walls, only to find it filled with Jane and Pach, Christy and Jeralyn, and Marcy, who then swarmed into the courtroom and the media center and out across the toobz. It was Snook and Walton who made sure these bloggers were there and had everything they needed to do their jobs

and an HUGE THANK YOU to ALL those that made it possible.

We can only get stonger…!

Yesterday I was slightly miffed at some of the impatience shown by the comments over at C&L, and in my comment, I tried to stress the importance of being patient and (re)building the Democratic Parliment.
This was also what Speaker Pelosi tried to stress in her interview at KOS, when she mentioned building a record of facts.

Also, this is exactly what the Repugs did…Built their strong-hold and majority over a couple of decades.

We must do the same.

We have a long hard struggle it may also take decades but with the strength and support of such a fantastic resource as our internet community, we can do it!

Thank You FDL.

This is way EPUd, but I just have to chime in with a big “amen” to what Scarecrow said.

Talk about lighting candles in the darkness. So many of us know how much we owe this amazing team — what’s even more amazing is how many Americans don’t even have a clue of this tremendous effort.

Terrific post Scarecrow.
I’m only just catching up with this now, but I want to THANK YOU ALL for your continuing efforts.

And Scarecrow, you’re too modest.
Surely appreciate your helping us “be there” in Chicago with the gang that CAN shoot straight ;->

As I have said numerous times before, I don’t like the term bloggers. FDL and all the others have evolved into the media. I don’t particularly want to read an analysis of a trial by someone who is not a lawyer, and at FDL, we have a passel of them. If you were covering a medical subject, no doubt there would be a doctor writing on it (Lord knows, we have enough of em here). The day when someone could be a “pundit” just on the strength of being there is quickly fading. Many reporters (and there are some steller exceptions) have no expertise in the fields they write in. They went to J school, not to law school. Some of them, of course, took the time to learn the fields they were assigned to, but for all the years I worked for a newspaper (not as a reporter) I was impressed by the lack of knowledge that many of the people who sat at desks in the newsroom had. Maybe I “do things to death,” but it appals me that I could stand in a news room, where politics was being reported, and ask “hey, when did World War 1 start?” and get back the answer “why is that important?” It is refreshing….no, it’s more than that, to have a forum to go read when there is a Constitutional crisis, where you can be assured that it will be explained by someone who has the background. That we have more than one person here who can explain what’s going on to those of us who want to know…and in a good deal of detail. I for one enjoy those posts. They are by far and away better than some of the stuff the New York Times or the WaPo does. All of you are very quickly becoming the mainstream. All you lack is the advertising, and that will come, and the people who run the MSM will be stuck with printing presses and empty buildings. Stay true to what you are now, and you will have the advertising.

Hi nolo,

About your poll on your blog on whether to impeach or indict Cheney … I voted for impeachment because if he’s indicted first, Shrub will just pardon or commute or …? before any sentence could come about. If he’s in the process of impeachment, Shrub loses all authority to pardon or commute

i hear you — but my view is
that such a pardon will itself
be obstruction of justice.
