John Aravosis is reporting that Home Depot may be having second thoughts about being in bed with O’Reilly. (Sorry about that, eyeball bleach and steel wool available at the door.)
Anyway, they sent this email out this morning:
Good morning,
Thank you very much for your message. The Home Depot has a policy that prohibits the running of its advertising on programs that express strong opinions or political views. Please note that this includes Bill O’Reilly’s program.
Thank you,
Ron
Good to know. Unfortunately they may be having a bit of a gingko moment, because they were sending this out only days ago:
Thank you for contacting The Home Depot Customer Care.
We appreciate you taking the time to forward your concerns regarding The Home Depot’s sponsorship of Bill O’ Reilly’s show on FOX.
Did they or don’t they? Will they or won’t they?
And the bigger question — is Alberto Gonzales writing Home Depot’s customer relations emails now?

I can’t believe I’m first{?} Made another call to Jay Inslee’s office today to congradulate him on a really good and effective appearance on Hardball. If you agree send him some love. {202} 225-6311
I’m not sure this has been mentioned.

Nice to know that HD is finally getting around to noticing that Bill O’Reilly is a total prat.

Maybe it should be news when they discover one who isn’t.

Re: Mrs. Giuliani’s “dog demonstrations”
Despite all of this PR about Mrs. G’s being a nurse, she never actually worked as one. After graduating froma 2 yr. nursing program. she married and got a job with US Surgical demonstrating surgical staples. This was done on live animals….ususally dogs who often had to be “put down” afterwards.
From what I know, her entire working career (until Rudy put her on his payroll) had been working for hospital supply Big Pharma.

FCC compromises on rules for airwaves auction
Cellphone users will get more choices, but a proposal by Google to open up a large swath of the spectrum is rebuffed.
By Jim Puzzanghera, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
3:22 PM PDT, July 31, 2007
WASHINGTON — Federal regulators today set broad rules for an upcoming auction of prime airwaves that give cellphone users more say in how they access wireless networks. The Federal Communications Commission voted to require the winner of about a third of the valuable public airwaves to allow people to use any phone they want and download any mobile software application.
The requirements, which were a compromise between competing plans by Google Inc. and telecommunications giants, would be a major change for wireless companies, who control access to their spectrum and limit customers to certain phones and approved software.
“Currently, American consumers are too often asked to throw away their phones and buy new ones when they switch wireless carriers,” said FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.

Meanwhile, they approved $2.5 million to help low-income students attend Bob Jones University, a private school in Greenville….Bob Jones University is not accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It wasn’t accredited at all before 2006″

I thought it was Bill Frist. Whatever happened to Frist’s non-blind blind trust debacle? “Frist placed his investments in a blind trust when he joined the Senate to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest. However, contrary to Frist’s initial statements, the blind trust provided him with regular updates on the status of his assets, according to the Associated Press.”
AND
The accusations are Medicare fraud, conflict of interest and insider trading. Bill Frist’s connection to his family’s Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) has landed him in hot water and earned him a subpoena from the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Which day will it be when the implosion finally happens?
These are supposed to be the politically lazy days of summer, or something along those lines. I should be outside, enjoying the most beautiful summer day yet in my Washington state vacation. But the future of democracy in the USA is at stake, the fools who thought they could finesse us forever are at a precipice of their own making, and even a company which has NEVER EVER given a penny, let alone a million bucks to left-wing political causes is flushing Bill Orally down the toilet.
Why is this happening? Us!
Thank you, Jane, Christy, Marcy, Markos, Matt, Pach – and everyone! What this proves to me is that we have to spread the word even more, and triple our calls, e-mails, fundraising, GOTV actions, and, especially, war protests. I’m more optimistic about the future of progressive democracy today than I’ve been since the morning after the 2006 elections.
And – we need to constantly remind ourselves, like Howie Klein does so relentlessly and truthfully – we need to take this Democratic Party from the machine which has been running it and give it back to the people.
Yay!!! It looks like FISA debate to wait until after recess.

The Interior Department’s inspector general didn’t find political interference by Vice President Dick Cheney on a key environmental policy in part because investigators weren’t looking for it, an Interior official said Tuesday.
A 2004 report by the inspector general found no basis for a claim by then-Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry that White House political advisers interfered in developing water policy in the Klamath River Basin in California and Oregon.
___________
Check this pic of cowboy Cheney:C-H-E! N-E-Y! Dick Cheney, The Science Guy!
The Vice President is now “dabbling” in science, specifically in the Klamath Basin of California-Oregon, the proposed high-level nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, and air quality, to name a few.

As in: Are the american people sophisticated enough to understand that when the democrats are blocking a foo-foo-wuss vote by the republicans to, wowsie-boom, put a quarter-inch of distance between themselves and goatboy about Iraq, it doesn’t mean that the dems don’t want to end our part in bush’s shitmire; it just means that they don’t want to let the GOP wash the blood off their hands before they join them for REAL troop drawdown legislation.

But I think there’s more to this…Malkin was on O’Reilly the other night and the two of them were piling on the daily kos for hate and vile speech. Speech posted by people he has no control over. On the other hand Malkin posts the writings of a man she knows is a porn star and when the fact is pointed out to her it is dismissed with “Was. Not is. Was. Bryan Preston hotair.com ” I don’t know I think Ms. Malkin has a lot of explaining to do!
Just something to throw into the mix:
While driving through the Mojave Desert last night, there wasn’t much to listen to on the car radio between thunderstorms, but I’d settled on O’Reilly on the approach to Barstow. In between his many denunciations and insults (many directed at his female co-host for some reason. He was particularly miffed that she didn’t know anything about British Invasion music of the ’60’s… wha???) there was a prominent Home Depot ad, which was striking, I thought, because I was passing by a Home Depot on I-40.
This was last night. About 9:30p.
It’s total, funny-animal cartoon blowback for Bill-O.
The dynamite he sets for a rival causes the plunger to go “Ka-boom!” in his face.
The celebratory cigar he lights for himself, explodes and blows his features around to the back of his head.
Coats his enemy in honey and instead, the entire beehive attacks him.
And we laugh every Goddamned time—because it’s classic.
I say we keep kicking him in the ribs—f*ck if he’s down. Play with the bull, and you get the horns.
He gets the horns, but good, here.

Juslin: I noticed on Talking Points Memo that they’ll be doing multiple video reports daily from YKos. I don’t know if anybody’s streaming the actual sessions or not.
