It’s going to be hard for average people creating questions for Democratic Presidential candidates to be quite as awful as Brian Williams, and it won’t be nearly the freak show that the GOP “double Gitmo” debates have been, but it should be entertaining nonetheless.
Do you suppose anyone will actually utter the words “inherent contempt?”

hi
What youtube OUGHT to do, was let the youtube audience select which questions should have been asked, instead of having CNN cherry pick which questions to ask the candidates.
almost sad to be here, since I think I wrote a good epu downstairs.
Lahoma and I are there (CNN debate).
Right On, Jane!!!
The thing we don’t want to hear are generalities. We want spe4cifics.
It will be a novel exercise but no more enlightening than any other of these fiascos.
“inherent contempt”
Hey – that’s not so hard.
OK – next assignment?

Siun!
Brian Williams? – nah…
No Obama – we don’t want republicans.
IMPEACH!!!!
I hope that John Edwards runs with the impeachment mantra.

Ooo Hillary called herself a Progressive!
Senator Clinton says she is a “modern progressive”.
I get it: Clinton won’t use the word the word “liberal” even though she defines herself in the same terms as the word liberal and thinks it’s not the word to use.
Argh.
Good on Gravel for caching Obama. He takes corpo dollars, you bet.
There goes Gravel again
RagingGurrl @ 14
Well, she also calls herself a New Yorker…
So what is freaking wrong with the word liberal? It has a long proud tradition.
What does that mean (modern progressive)?
cleter @ 20
very good.
HI Rev Deb – don’t the top three take corpo dollars?
Re the clip at the top: Doesn’t he get it that there will be NO progress on any of those nice projects while POTUS can veto and Dems can’t override? Isn’t that just basic math?
And where are his nice projects going to be when the nukes start falling on Iran, to be followed by nukes falling on US? Where are all of his projects then?
Biden does public financing.
This is going to be very interesting.
Lahoma and I want to hear about Iraq.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 21
She’s a shape shifter..but the original shape/soul was always a triangle.
Go John!
“The only way the corpos will give up their power is if we take it away from them!”
I wonder if Dodd is getting the first of everything tonight due to “the talk meter” on his site?
Oklahoma kiddo @ 21
Democratic republican.
The media is after John – I donate everytime they bash him.
You all watching this on TV?
Just returned from ranting at my son to hear the end of Edwards’ class act about fighting entrenched interests. You rock John!
ET, appropos to previous thread.
I had the opposite experience when I was a G.I. in basic at Ft. Leonard Wood, (which was named after a genocidal maniac who made Custer look like a piker, but that is a different story.)
True, the military had refined techniques for de-humanizing the enemy. And it is ever thus, in war.
But I was part of a small group of people who confronted this when we were in the mess hall, or at ease in the barracks. We called ourselves, “The Military Left,” (as in, “Not that left, hockey puck. Your military left.) I remember telling a young man that the Vietnamese soldiers had mothers who loved them as much as his own mother loved him. I remember seeing the light go on.
We would have never been there if it weren’t for the draft.
Edwards hitting his message heavy and often tonight.
This is interesting, but it is more like “American Idol” than like, well, like the Lincoln-Douglas debates.
cleter @ 31
Correctiion:

RevDeb @ 29
The sooner progressives, liberals, minorities, immigrant groups, the middle class learn that lesson the sooner things will change in an otherwise ossified system that has been so gamed by the ruling elites that “petitioning” the government is an inside joke to the oligarchy.
I’m thinking popcorn. Or maybe just a couple aspirin. And a cool cloth for my forehead.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 21
It’s kind of like the democrat equivalent of ‘compassionate conservative’
Dodd gets his third piece of the action and nothing for Richardson yet?
Makes me wonder if someone in Richardson’s campaign works for CNN and is doing him a favor :)
BigMitch @ 5
You certainly did!
noonan @ 43
Shh! You’ll give away the secret!
I don’t have the cables, and the live feed on CNN.com is not working. Grr.
also viewable at cnn.com
I spoke too soon. His tie looks much better tonight. Good ideas but he still needs to work on delivery.
Am I wrong, or did Richardson just say that we have to eliminate any red tape that helps families?
I think Hillary is sufficiently black and Obama is sufficiently feminine. What’s the issue?
Here are the debate questions thus far…
Dodd starts out well then he misses the golden opportunity to explain what he would do differently. Richardson has good points but he keeps sounding like he’s reading a laundry list.
Question that I think will not be asked, even though I sent it in (and I am sure a few others).
Several Presidents have tried to deal with the Israeli/Palestinian issue. As President will you tackle this issue? Would you approach this conflict differently than other Presidents? How?
Place your bets on whether this question or any questions will be asked about this conflict
I hope I am wrong. But I place a bet on that it will not be asked.
How many times do we need to hear that this issue and the way we deal with it is an ever present thorn in the side of all of the countries in that part of the world.

Julie Waters @ 50
Not bad. ;0)
Oklahoma kiddo @ 15
Shorter Hill: “Neo-progressive”
I like Dodd
Does anyone know how they come up with the yellow line?
Kathleen @ 57
Dodd was a champion for Ned when most of the other dems were hiding.
Hillary’s found a good voice coach.
Kathleen @ 57
I like him too. But my preference is not on that stage.
I really hate saying this, but Sen. Clinton looks great and sounds even better – so far. She must have gotten that hairdryer back that Sen. Warner stole at the all-nighter last week.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 61
Ditto.
The Israeli Palestinian conflict.
How would you deal with this conflict any differently than past Presidents?
A little lower and Hill’s mic would be “in her cleavage.” You think anyone will write about that tomorrow?
Has Dennis given an answer that people here don’t agree with?
They may sound good now but don’t forget how the MSM will play out the acutual Presidential campaign “Would you want to have a beer with this candidate.” That’s how most people who don’t follow politics will be told how they should view the candidates. Oh maybe it will come down to the price of a haircut, manicure, perm, square footage on their residence, cleavage, earth tones, take your pick the MSM is always looking for a new hook. Careers to be made and all.
lolo @ 13
ME 2 LOLO
Here’s a question for them:
Can you explain the concept of “inherent contempt” and to you think it should be applied to administration officials who defy congressional subpoenas?
Nah, too wordy.
Do you believe President Bush has violated the Constitution? What remedy does the Constitution provide for violations by the President?
Tithonia @ 60
The best in the business is Lillian Wilder. 41 went to her briefly, according to Kitty Kelley, but gave up because he thought he didn’t need help.
noonan @ 66
I don’t agree with reparations for slavery.
noonan @ 66
Kuccinich is the most progressive of the bunch but according to the MSM he’s way out there. In Europe he would be considered a centrist.
Ed*ard Teller @ 62
Couldn’t agree more, as soon as I saw her I called my cousin to say whatever Hillary’s done with her eyes, we should get done too!
Can we have all of them in an administration?
Do we know how long this ‘debate’ is supposed to last?
Dodd – seperate but equal marriage for straights and gays… well, kind of equal.
Bluetoe @ 72
The MSM loves to put down Kucinich
Bluetoe @ 72
We had a chance to talk politics with someone from France over the past few weeks. She is amazed at what we are arguing over compared to the rights and protections the people of Europe have.
Kathleen @ 74
Isn’t that why several of them are running?
Or, we could have a Committee run the country like the old USSR. That’d throw the wingnuts for a loop.
Are the questions on the YouTube site actually the ones being asked?? None of them seem to be about the crazed elephant currently trampling our governmental garden and trashing, oh, let’s say, Iraq.
Neil @ 76
That separate but equal thing worked great last time.
Teddy, still for Edwards?
Why does he get to follow up on this question? Sounds like an attack on Edwards.
I don’t think Obama expected the question about same-sex marriage.
Didn’t like Edwards answer on gay marriage.
noonan @ 78
Try and tell that to the “average” American. They really haven’t a clue. Traveling to Europe a fair amount friends and family are just amazed at the American political scene.
Obama, everyone needs to be equal, so I’ll set up a separate rule for gays. A new Plessy?
Kathleen @ 74
I checked out Team of Rivals from the college library the other day. This has been done before, Kathleen.
Splitting hairs on gay marriage does not make anyone look good in this format.
The candidate videos sort of suck.
Will one of the most serious and persistent problems in the middle east come up?
How will you deal with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict any differently than past Presidents?
solai @ 85
What didn’t you like about it?
WoW, Anderson is good at this. He’s been pissy lately but I like (him) the way he is handling this.
Damn, that was a blatant mini-ad for Hill!
I’m impressed with their political correctness. The Trilateral Commission is to be commended.
And I was so proud of Edwards when asked if gay relations were immoral. He answered ‘no’. What happened?
It’s a f’ing non-issue. Who the frig cares?
Obama has a good answer on rights conferred by a civil union – exactly the same rights as conferred by marriage license.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 61
RunAlRun!
solai @ 85
I thought it was pretty good. He made it clear that if a bill came to him legalizing gay marriage that he would not oppose it – or at least that’s my opinion.
lolo @ 93
Better than the Wolf
Don’t like Hillary’s video. And Edwards needs to do better on the gay marriage front. But he’s being honest in a way that few of them are and I don’t mean just about that issue. Though gay marriage may be a personal struggle for him I doubt that he would do anything to block any kind of legislation that would legalize it.
eCAHNomics @ 89
Don’t want to offend the religious vote? How pathetic is that. The U.S. founded on the principles of the Enllightement and now politicians have to placate the medievalists! Is this a great country or what?
RevDeb @ 101
Elizabeth would kill him if he tried :)
The FDL LN Minister of High Culture is obliged to inform you that Sen. Clinton used the last 30 seconds from Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King” from “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1.”
It’s break time. And we are not impressed.
The issues being discussed are important.
Perhaps we need one debate just on the Middle East. That in our opinion along with global warming are the imperatives.
solai @ 85
I agree. But he made it clear that it would not affect his policy decisions and I believe him. Elizabeth would kick his butt if it did.
Julie Waters @ 92
Should have been absolute. No qualifications. It’s a non-issue. Disappointed that he actually disapproves.
Kathleen @ 78
He’s a funny looking little guy. The MSM is a pack of wolves who think they are picking on the smallest and weakest. They are sadly mistaken and it’s fun to watch. Dennis can hold his own. I don’t think he has a future as a candidate but if all he does is to make the other candidates take a solid position on his view, then he’s done quite a lot!
Edwards’ video to “Hair”!
Maybe my standards have been lowered over time, but so far this seems to be the best debate so far. I don’t think they need to discuss the mad elephant in the white house – everyone agrees that it’s a travesty. EXCEPT for this: I DO want to hear all of their views on impeachment. This administration is criminal. QED. It is proven. I do NOT want to hear ‘I will bring change in 2009.’ No, sweets; if you’re in the senate or house right now, start bringing the change RIGHT FREAKIN NOW.
Kathleen @ 100
Agreed. I wasn’t expecting much, but I think he’s doing a good job. Although my Internet feed has stalled so I’m a few minutes behind on the action.
solai @ 85
I think it showed exactly what I like about Edwards. He doesn’t lie. He said he would work for the things that Bill Richardson mentioned, which is all that anyone could ask for in terms of equal treatment. He could have left it right there, but he also acknowledged his upbringing and that it leaves him personally conflicted. And then he promised not to let his personal morality impose on what he thinks are public policy questions. What more do you want?
Neil @ 97
True, it’s a prudent course of action, it maybe a Separate, but equal proposition, but fairness is accorded!!!
Love the Edwards video!
Hair . . . .what really matters?
Neil @ 97
So is he saying that all marriages should be civil unions and marriage should be left to churches?
Cyndi
lolo @ 98
With you. He all ready won once, stood solidly against the invasion, and has shared with the world is commitment to enviromental issues.
Re- Elect Gore!
This format is very answer oriented. Doesn’t allow for long explanations, qualifiers, hair-splitting. Puts the candidates in a quandry about how to appeal to the base while maintaining a broader appeal. Let’s see if any of them realize that the D base is 75% of the population.
Twain @ 99
noonan @ 87
Obama -
You can dress him up in $2,000 suits, but all you have is a nicely dressed machine tool.
Blergh.
The audacity of self-worship..from an ambitious ethically vapid moral abscess.
I look at him, and all I think of is purulent ethics.
Blergh – purulent lesions. Another reason I never wanted to specialize in dermatology.
noonan @ 109
Wow, that was great, wasn’t it?
Darfur! Go, Biden!!!
Biden is a neocon on Darfur. Very dangerous.
noonan @ 109
Barry Cowsill died in Hurricaine Katrina. Very sad.
johnSwifty @ 56
Is modern progressive much like post-progressive?
johnSwifty @ 108
That’s not really fair to wolves an animal that has been demonized for centuries. Why not just say the journalists act like a pack of well “journalists”.
Did anyone watch Obama during the Bolton or the Condi Rice nomination hearings. Kerry, Boxer, Lincoln Chaffee, Dodd asked tough questions. Obama rolled over.
Gravel is getting even more PO’d. Watch him go off next time he gets a question directed to him.
CyndiM @ 115
He’s saying that government MUST make sure hetero couples and gay couples have THE SAME RIGHTS under the law. Churches will do what they will do.
I support Edwards and have donated to his campaign. But I would like someone who really didn’t care about all this gay marriage crap. Who cares what other people do?????
Barry Cowsill.
It means that the MSM should be reporting more about what is taking place in Darfur. Call a genocide a genocide
Here comes Iraq.
Logistical support for AU and Nato troops, good answer!!! Soft power is more effective than Hard power!!!
Interesting . . . showing pictures of dead soldiers. Most of the candidates looking at their notes. Edwards looking at the screen at the faces of the lost ones.
Well finally someone is talking about Iraq.
Kucinich voted against the invasion. I believe he led the way on the no votes
solai @ 129
I don’t care at all what other people do and have a gay couple in my family whom I love and treasure. I know what they have gone through but I think Edwards was honest – which was very important to me.
After last night, I don’t want any more of this hero worship for our troops.
Who cares what other people do?????
The other people who want to be treated as equal under the law.
I agree that this issue has been torqued by Repubs towin elections for six years but don;t blame the people who have been discriminated against.
Ugh. The questioner assumes we have some kind of caretaker white man’s burden responsibility in the Middle East.
More imperialism.
I get it– Iraqis are like -babies-.
Urgh.
CTuttle @ 133
Who answered this way?
*clue to the guy asking the question about Iraq – it’s the Saudis who are having as much to do with what’s wrong in Iraq now as any other group. How about dealing with them first?
RevDeb @ 134
I noticed that, too. revealing
Obama you voted for both Condi Rice and John Bolten when they went through the hearing process.
45 minutes into this thing and we’re finally talking about the most important issue in the world. Too much.
Neil @ 142
Hill!
Twain @ 137
Speaking as a clergy person who has done lots of civil unions, it took me a while to “get” gay marriage and get with the program. Did my first gay wedding last October and it was a privilege. I’ve been fighting on the front lines in MA to keep it legal. But I did have to process it myself years ago to get there. Now I’m more than there. Hopefully Edwards will be too.
RevDeb @ 134
I caught that too.
Lousy answer from Obama. I don’t agree with Biden, but at least he is answering the question.
Getting married in a church is 2 things, a religous rite AND a civil right. People have to complete the papers for the church PLUS fill out papers for the ‘civil union.’ The minister acts as the ‘witness.’ A civil union is a marriage without the religion. My parents were married by a judge without any minister. We could surmise that they had a ‘civil union.’
And I have yet to hear an answer about how gay marriage has any impact on a hetersexual marriage. Can not figure that one out.
Pachacutec @ 140
Let him enlist.
Aah. Gotta use Firefox and then download some TBS module, but then can get live video feed.
OK; the questions are more relevant that those first few on the YouTube site. Why are they cutting off Gavel, though? Actual differences in style and substance emerging here.
Awesome question!!!
HRC turns Iraq into a family issue. Ugh.
Hey pups I am having so much fun right now. /ahhhhh A perfect fix for a political junkie. Jane thanks so much for everything you do for us. When are we going to start our own party?
Hillary punted on the occupation.
obama ain’t growin’ on me.
clinton is doing surprisingly well.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 152
CyndiM @ 115
All marriages are already civil unions – you can go through a church ceremony without doing the paperwork – guess what – you’re not married. Whereas you can get married a city hall, have no ceremony, and be legally married.
Ooo, good question. No surprise, Hillary didn’t answer it, but I have to agree she looks and sounds great in that coral top.
How sad, i didn’t know about Barry Cowsill dying in Katrina. I still can remember the paper sleeve from my 45 of Hair.
As afar as John Edwards and his response to gay marriage, I’m satisfied with it. As long I get my full legal rights as an American citizen, his personal approval doesn’t matter.
kucinich — telling truth, AGAIN
Obama vote yes on Condi Rice
http://www.becomethemedia.com/?p=23
Anyone notice how Hillary Clinton had her head down during the questions about Iraq!
Go, Dennis!!!
ok, later Pups, off to take a mental health walk :) better than throwing bricks at the TV
“it’s a phony excuse to say you don’t have the votes”
right on, Kucinich!
Millineryman @ 162
What a perfect way to put it. Thanks
We created the civil war, we need to get out.
solai @ 129
Edited because I misunderstood what the comment was saying.
Dodd sounding good tomight. I wish he had more support.
Will anyone bring up the a Regional conference that Zbigniew Brezinski and the Iraqi Study Group recommended? Senator Kerry brought this up on Washington Journal last week
No residual troops, Amen!!! Go Richards!!!
Richardson had great line on Irag: The lives of U.S. troops are more important than George W. Bush’s legacy.
Can I vote for the people asking the questions instead of the people standing on the stage?
Cindy Sheehan has finally faced her son died in vain.
Wow, that tight face shot on Gravel is designed to make him look crazy. They did not do that to anyone else.
Gravel demonstrates that you can be completely right about a particular topic, yet still be insane.
Fern @ 170
I believe what we mean is that it should not be nor is it any of our business – ex cept to see that none are discriminated against.
Another non-answer from Obama.
Getting tired of this.
I just screamed at Joe Biden, and even louder at Hillary. I also turned CNN OFF!!! Beyond sick and tired of these people lying so blatantly and playing politics with thousands of lives. The Iraqis are NOT irresponsible. They are doing what is in their power to get us the hell out of there! It’s their *&%^$@%^&** country! They want their sovereign nation back. If they continue to screw it up after we leave, then it’s up to them and their immediate neighbors to deal with it.
These Democrats are losing me quickly. And I’m an involved and active Dem in my county. But I just want to scream and break things when I hear what I just heard from Biden and Hillary.
Pachacutec @ 177
You’re right.
Bluetoe @ 126
Point taken. My bad.
One thing that seems to be happening is that the video questions, with enforcement from the moderator, are forcing the candidates to answer the question and do less soundbites — or at least when they do, they look like their dodging. Straight talk looks good.
Millineryman @ 162
I actually think Edwards used the original cast version but you can’t not think of the Cowsills’ version.
Fern
Cherry Garcia still exists. You can find out where to buy it in a store near you here.

Notice how Obama stammers at the beginning of some of his answers? I think he’s taking a moment to figure out how to avoid sounding either too liberal or too conservative.
RevDeb @ 180
You’re right, too!
Now they’ve gone tight face on Edwards.
Interesting.
DrenchedOtter @ 175
Showing once again the wisdom of the people over the politicians.
Hello where were you folks. The soldiers went to Iraq went to Iraq to find WMD’s.
Mike Gravel! I forgive you for making a pass at Ms. ET 27 years ago.
Stop telling lies to yourself American[s]. We know that your racist brutal murdering war criminal troops came from your society and reflect its values.
All these ‘debaters’ seem to agree that a military solution in Iraq is not possible. Then what are we still doing there?
Twain @ 179
Yes – see my edited #170
Of course, I forgot to mention the oil. Silly me. That trumps everything, doesn’t it?
DrenchedOtter @ 182
john edwards just got the same treatment
Julie Waters @ 187
Yep.
RevDeb @ 148
I have gay friends. I too had to develop an understanding of it before it made sense to me. Turns out, I was over thinking… Have you ever fallen in love? It’s the same.
I’m proud to live in a state that rightly decided gay people are entitled to the same protection under the law as heterosexuals. Gay people are people… just people.
eCAHNomics @ 186
You remembered! That you.
Wish they would have asked Clinton if Americans soldiers died in vain?
He stuttered a little bit again – Obama…
Ed*ard Teller @ 192
DAmmit, ET, you beat me to this punch again.
eCAHNomics @ 197
I had great hope for Obama but he just doesn’t address the issues but he speaks beautifully
Does Edwards really love his wife as much as his frequent mentions suggest, or is that a tactic?
Ed*ard Teller @ 201
I’m willing to chalk that up to inexperience with this kind of format.
eCAHNomics @ 204
He’d be a fool not to love her that much!
So far mostly men asking questions! At least that is my count
Obama’s a very smooth talker when he’s got prepared Twain @ 203
He’s a great speaker when he’s working with prepared remarks. He comes across as inspiring. Debates are where that great speaking ability falls by the wayside when you have to think on your feet. That’s why I prefer unscripted debates with more interaction between candidates.
Oooh. HRC playing the “I’ve-been-there-done-that” card.
eCAHNomics @ 204
Strikes me as quite genuine. Ms. ET agrees. Why do you ask?
BigMitch @ 5
linky? I’ll read it!
Diva
Pachatytec@177
Exactly, MSM is drawing the line.
DrenchedOtter @ 182
They took a shot of Hillary from behind also. Didn’t do that to the men.
If only Hillary had voted no on the 2002 war resolution
eCAHNomics @ 204
Oh come on,after all the crap the GOP has laid out about how liberals/dems don’t have any family values, can you blame him for that?
I gotta say, I’m enjoying this debate. These people are good candidates.
So far no questions about the Israeli-Palestinian situation.
DrenchedOtter @ 205
Is he the only one on the stage who has not had any experience with this format? Besides – he’s the one who is supposed to be the great orator. Maybe he just doesn’t do spontaneous.
HRC mentioned woman prez of Liberia without saying there’s coup plotting going on there.
She also didn’t disabuse the questioner of his opinion about Islam by saying some Muslim countries do not treat women equally but others have had women head of state.
No time to go into details, but I think the video editing has been pretty amateurish.
Kathleen @ 164
You’ve mentioned that 3 times. What campaign are you working for?
Americans have to face the fact that Bush shit on Iraq and now they are complaining about the flies.
Ledeen, Perle, Cheney, Liebermann have all said no way should we negotiate or talk to Iran.
Ed*ard Teller @ 210
Sounds genuine to me too, but henever misses an opportunity to bring her up.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 217
There never are, at least framed like you or I would feel would elicit a response different from what W would mouth.
Shorter Hillary: Meet with castro? Hell, no, I want to win the Florida primary, unlike Obama.
Is Edwards vying for VP?
eCAHNomics @ 205
I know them…it’s not a tactic.
I wish they would put all of the same questions to the Repigs. Wouldn’t that make for an interesting debate!
smallg @ 227
Yes.
eCAHNomics @ 204
The female veteran F-16 pilot sitting next to his wife is a tactic, so maybe mentioning his wifemultiple times is too. Tactics are to be expected. Its good topoint them out. Thx eCAHN
eCAHNomics @ 219
That’s a shame. I heard her interviewed a couple f times when she was here in Canada, and I thought she was very impressive.
RevDeb @ 229
Hear, hear!
Jane (nyc) @ 228
Thx. Edwards’s still my boy.
Another good answer by Dodd. I don’t know why he seems to be so far down in the polls.
DrenchedOtter @ 235
Dodd’s demeanor’s like he’s on speed. Needs some coaching to hit the right spot.
I find it impossible to take Hillary Clinton seriously. Not because she’s a woman but because of her willingness to sacrifice the lives of so many people in an effort to appear tough.
Dodd is really, really good in Spanish. His Spanish is flawless.
HRC sez get troops out safely. Does she think anyone believes we ought to get them out dangerously?
eCAHNomics @ 224
He’s genuinely in love with a person for whom he has abiding concern. Maybe he feels it helps her heal to hear that. I’ve been working with a candidate – Diane Benson – whose son lost both legs and part of an arm in Bagdhad last year. That occurance got her to declare against Don Young, who the Dems weren’t going to oppose. She was reluctant to bring Latseen up in campaign appearances, but when she did, she framed it in ways she hoped would help him heal.
new thread.
Is it just me or this CNN’s way of “asking the tough questions” that they are afraid to ask?
What a bunch of pussies!
DrenchedOtter @ 230
Who has a better chance Edwards or Obama?
Funnydiva2002 @ 211
BigMitch @ 104 in previous thread.
I mised the first bit. Has anyone ask if impeachment would be good medicine? Does the constitution matter?
solai @ 129
Far, far too many rightwing “God is on my side and my side ONLY” Rethuglicans not only care, but see it as a mission to punish anyone who does not do as they say. That’s why this “crap” is an issue.
It’s easy to not care when you’re the one with unquestioned, “default” rights.

eCAHNomics @ 204

The DEBATE IS BEING REPLAYED on C SPAN 2.
Where was Don King’s hair?
Sorry to be off topic but what is that image in the mirror above the bar in the upper left hand corner?
I wont suggest anything to not bias the response.
am i crazy or not
steve brown
SHillary’s hair & makeup certainly looked good. Is there a human being under there?
“modern progressive” means Reagan style NeoCon who won’t openly come out for lynching blacks & f*ggots but believes in more imperialist wars, redistributing money up to the top 1%, etc.
God help this country if SHillary’s the Demo pick and that’s all the “choice” we get
Kathleen @ 214
Actually, I tend to favor the position taken by Clinton and Edwards at that time.
The question posed to them was what to do in light of the information they had. Of course, we don’t know precisely what information they had and Edwards has said he was borderline on it, so it couldn’t have been precisely clear.
Then there was the AUMF which didn’t say “Go kill Saddam and occupy Iraq.”. It said Bush should check with the U.N. and investigate for WMD further. Well, it wasn’t the Senate’s fault Bush is a jerk.
So, I don’t criticize anyone for their Senate vote, though I do like that Edwards has admitted it as a mistake and that Hillary has stubbornly insisted she voted the right way. Both have their positive values.
Now, in light of today’s information, we can ask them why Hillary was so late to change her view to leaving Iraq and of wanting to leave troops there and we can ask Edwards to try and be more precise on what would induce him to leave troops or on how he’d like to fight anti-American terrorists.
Obama’s anti-AUMF vote leaves me wondering.
