Last month, I thought I read that Reid said that was the plan. If he doesn’t do it, I guess the Dems told him to F-off.

Thinking out loud, here. What if he made a deal with the White House not to do it, so that Gonzo could resign, and W could make a recess appointment? Would that be a good thing?

I think the Ds in the Senate should lie in wait for Gonzales to resign and then leap back into session.

The Constitution is not falling. The rightwing made some disgusting inroads into their plans to wreck it and the country for profit, and now their time is pretty much run. Can they attack Iran? Yes, they can, and there isn’t much that can be done. Can they destroy a US city and declare martial law? Yeah, they can — but that martial law would last a week, if that.

The more disaffiliated you are, the more fearmongering you do. There’s a message in there somewhere.

You know, Reid and Pelosi lay out their calendar IN JANUARY. Apparently people have only now realized there is an August recess.

Whether or not there should be one this year is a separate issue. Leader Reid already clarified MONTHS AGO that recess appointments during August would not be possible. At the time, he said that new Senators would do the duty of keeping the Senate ‘open.’ (I can’t find a link to this information, but he HAS addressed this).

Unfortunately, by now it may be a foregone conclusion, regardless of what the Democrats do or don’t do, that the Constitution is finished. Nevertheless, if the Democrats don’t stay in session, continue with all-night sessions and otherwise exercise every single power available to them, they are as complicit in the destruction of the Constitution as any Republican who takes his or her marching orders from Cheneym, Bush and Gonzales.

We all need to put those in our frontyards. Tomorrow. Big, giant ones. Spell impeach on the roof so the news helicopters will see it.
