Wow, what a spectacularly bad night of sleep…laid awake between 3 and 5 am, tossing and turning…and thinking about YearlyKos. I don’t know how I am going to get to all the venues I want to visit, trying to figure out how to pack for 4 days in a carry-on so I can shave off a trip to the luggage carousel so I don’t miss any more of Christy and emptywheel at the Blogging Libby Trial roundtable than I absolutely have to.

I know, it’s more than a week away, but I’m also packing for a two-week trip to the upper peninsula where I’ll be leaving the kids with their grandparents while I go to YKos.

And I have an interview Wednesday an hour away, with departure for the great white north on Thursday.

Life is good, I guess, if this is all I have to complain about. Italian espresso on the stove if you want some, ‘Pups.

Fresh picked wild blueberries and raspberries for your pancackes, eg.

It’s not the extreme left demanding better of Congress…it’s the American people.

Cool and raining this morning in central Jersey. Wish I could send it south, where they need it. Mr. NJP made a huge batch of pancake batter yesterday while our nephew was visiting, so I’m making a small batch of pancakes this morning with the leftover batter. The coffee is ready. How many pancakes would you like?

Hey, have you read David Halberstam’s terrific last article in the August Vanity Fair? Excellent homework for the day. “The History Boys”–a profile of BushCo’s twisting of history. A personal offense to Halberstam and as the editor’s letter anecdote tells, he does not take kindly to such.

Contrast the current crop of “journalists” with this giant, and you shudder to wonder where in MSM real reporting will prevail again. There aren’t enough Moyers and Schusters to go around.
