Watch Colbert much? :)

The hand wringing of those opposed to withdrawl or redeployment is laughable. What will hapen when the troops leave will happen no matter when they leave. They are fighting a 1300 year war now. What the hell is 50 years?

It seems timely to post a list of those senators up for re-election in ‘08. Have you one or can you link to one? Thanks.

Lindy @ 50

Future Breaking News!
year 2010

PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY DESTROYED BY FLOOD
Crawford, Texas — A tragic flood this morning destroyed the personal library of former President Bush. The flood began in the presidential bathroom where both of the books were kept.

Both books have been lost. A presidential spokesman said the president was devastated, since he was almost finished coloring the second one.

The White House tried to call FEMA, but there was no answer.

Books, yeah… hustler and playboy.

give some credit. some of these Republicans are ALMOST courageous.
Seriously what is the point of these Republicans opposing Bush or the war or torture or his abuse of power or any of his constant criminal acts? They BUILT this war, this odious policy , and Bush, from the ground up. What’s that? Their policies are ripping apart the country, befouling the world, and causing danger and hardship to Americans and others around the world? Please try to come up with a COMPELLING reason for them to change positions or act on them.

The White House tells us the “surge” is working and attacks are down. The only problem is the reality, of course, is far different in Iraq according to the Pentagon statistics. It seems as we control one area we are just pushing the violence to another area. Most experts have said we need double the amount of troops for Bush’s strategy to work. We cannot bring in that many troops in Iraq unless we have a regional political solution and help from others.

Also our military being on Muslim soil is increasing the recruitment of terrorist and making Al-Qaeda stronger via National Intelligence Estimate reports. Our goal must be how to contain the situation while getting off the need of Middle East oil.

The problem is both sides are void on ideas and are playing politics. I hope lawmakers and the white House will bring forth solutions not just talking points

Daily attacks in Iraq hit new high in June

(Reuters) - Attacks in Iraq last month reached their highest daily average since May 2003, showing a surge in violence as President George W. Bush completed a buildup of U.S. troops, Pentagon statistics show.

The data, obtained by Reuters from the Defense Department, showed an upward trend in daily attacks over the past four months, when U.S. and Iraqi forces were ramping up operations against insurgents and militants, including al Qaeda, in Iraq.

Pentagon officials were not immediately available to comment on the statistics.

Of course, September will not offer any relief because the politicized military command will tell Bush what he wants to hear.

i have forgotten where i picked this up:

where we know/are told that Soc*al*sm is when the Government owns the Private Sector,
is it not (therefore) Fascism when the Government is privately owned?

Thers - your post is great and sorry to be so late - first time I’ve caught up by reading from near the end of a thread. Been celebrating and working the phones with the news to my off-line friends in our local progressive circles. We’re all agreed Conyers will enjoy far more than a total of 15 and even a few terrified blue do congresscritters facing relection.

Will finish my Snoopy Dance and have a fresh brownie. Help yourself everyone.
