Started my copy yesterday afternoon, finished it around 10 last night. I enjoyed it and thought it a good conclusion to the story. One of the things that makes it stand out in the series is that it’s the book in which we finally begin to find out who Albus Dumbledore is and was, and why he did the things he did.
No surprise either, it’s the book in which Harry Potter finally comes into his own fully, as do Ron and Hermione. All the previous books were the build up to this - this is where so many things finally unfold that have been building across the series.

I will say this - I will be surprised if Rowling can resist the temptation to write anything more about Harry Potter. I don’t think that she needs to, not in terms of wrapping up the story - but after creating this incredible cast of characters and taking them so far, to just walk away from them boggles the mind.

The temptation is huge - but the risk of somehow diminishing her accomplishment is also huge. (One has only to look at the Star Wars canon to see how that can work.) Or, perhaps more appropriately, Asimov’s Foundation series.

Back to the book–just finished it. A fitting finale! Won’t spoil anything by telling you if your guesses are correct. It’s a fine book, though, and one of the delights is seeing how grand the conception of the whole series is, and the pleasure in seeing how well Rowling pulls it off. I hope she makes billions. Oh, wait….

Louis Armstrong did a number with the Hot Five (IIRC), called ‘Muggles’. Back in the mid 70’s a friend was designed a series of cards for stoners, and we sat up one night trying to recall every nickname we could for the cards, ‘Muggles’ was my contribution.

Jacqrat, it you’re reading through here, I apologized for saying …my day is complete… at the end of Donita’s thread. It was a stupid way of saying I admired your writing - so much said in so few words.
