Shark bites Lawyer! Is that a ‘Man bites Dog’ story?

I don’tknow what better describes the term “mass confusion” than a shark biting a lawyer or hoping Bush’s surgery goes well. Yikes.

I just think the idea that John Conyers intends to proceed with inherent contempt is big news. It had been my fear that Congress would be as deaf to that idea as generally it has been to impeachment.

In other non-breaking news, the House had a hearing today on FEMA and the Hurrican Katrina response. It is on C-Span2 now.

I just heard an environmental scientist for a contractor testify about how the testing of the trailers was rigged, to not show the health risks from formaldyhide. Trailers kept open, open windows for three weeks with fans, etc., and then changed the threshhold for dangerous levels to something absurd.

When lefties like us want to compliment a public figure, someone who embodies the ideals we strive for, be it John Conyers or T I L L M A N the word we tend to use is “patriot.”

And it’s not cause we are playing to an audience. Nor is it code for something else. I believe the choice of words reflects the real values we have.

After years of being told — from Viet Nam days till now — that we are not really patriotic, I see evidence now of what I have always known. We are the real patriots.

Yes, he [Judiciary/Impeachment Committee Chair John Conyers] really said that – first thing as he came in the door here in San Diego and repeated it again later. He is mingling with us common people and will soon give a talk. I was so excited when I heard those words, I just had to share.

Also, Land Shark was here and talked to Conyers in the presence of others about the disastrous Holt [HR 811 flawed election reform] bill as well as impeachment issues. Conyers stated that he would be going for inherent contempt – he declared that as his intent.
