Back in 65 a gutless Congress was lied to by a President from Texas. A gullible American public went along and you went down to war. You come back and ask who the last man to “die for a lie” would be. fast forward 40 years.

Kerry sits in Senate. A lyin Texan comes to a cowardly Congress and a gullible American public. Kerry voted for the war! So John, who will be the last man to die for a lie?

A belated welcome to The Lake, Senator Kerry. Thanks for being here. It was great seeing you on Countdown with Keith tonight.

We met last summer at a fundraiser for Gov. Granholm, and it was a pleasure meeting you in person and having a chance to talk to you for a few minutes.

Keep up the great work you’ve been doing.

Senator Kerry ~
Thanks so much for your participation here today. Longtime supporter here. Great job on Olbermann tonight!

My Question -

Do you believe the following to be at least misdemeanors or abuses of power that are deserving of impeachment or, at the very least, censure?

- use of signing statements to bypass laws enacted by Congress.
- failure to honor U.S. treaties (Geneva, etc.)
- lying to Congress.
- usurpation of Legislative branch powers.
- Warrantless wiretapping of U.S. citizens.
- Executive orders that conflict with the Constitution’s civil rights guarantees
- ad nauseum.

Although you are in the Senate, would you support and encourage representatives (of either party) in the House to consider articles of impeachment? Their refusal to do so appears politically motivated rather than responsive to their oaths of office that require them to protect and defend the Constitution.

Good job, dwahzon! I’m with you…John Kerry has been fighting non-stop since…forever. :)

dwahzon @ 178

Well, moron. You seem to have chosen an apt name.

Let’s see … which Democratic leader led the party in raising money for other Democratic candidates in the 2006 campaign cycle?

Oh, that would be John Kerry. And there’s a whole bunch more that he’s done for our country, our veterans and our party but since you don’t seem to have the time to educate yourself on the basics, I’m not going to waste the time.

On the Clock says:

“Are we spending too much time behind the screen, and not enough making street noise? “

I’ve been wondering that myself. I once read that Nixon didn’t nuke N. Vietnam because he was afraid of the reaction of the protesters. Why aren’t we in the streets?

P.S. Dropping in after work and seeing Kerry’s picture made me so sad. Ahhh…. what could have been.

Thanks Senator Kerry

I am so glad you recognize the fact that the internet and the blogosphere is not just a fund raising tool but as a way to re-engage with those outside the beltway. Thank you. As you probably know, those of us sitting in front of keyboards for a few minutes or a few hours a day are successful people with talents available for you to tap, and are freely giving our time and knowledge to refute and condemn the dirty tricks of these neo-Republicans who have zero conscience as you know.

We canvassed for you and other Democrats by going door to door, and calling complete strangers by using our free cell phone minutes, and registering people to vote as they came out of grocery stores.

I belong to a DFA group, and while you weren’t our first choice for President we did all those things for you and more. We even had people who were able to go to Ohio, volunteer to witness the counting of the votes

We sponsored a rally to convince one of your fellow Senators to join with the CBC in delaying the count of the electoral votes until all votes were counted in Ohio (we played a small part in convincing Senator Boxer to step forward). (Pics here)

This rally was not just about the electoral votes but something much more sacred — the votes of the American people — because it is We the People that are the very first words in the document that you swear to uphold and defend — We the People.

Please remember that when the next administration official comes before you with false statements and obfuscations whether it is a judicial nominee or a new war supplemental or anything else that has a certain odor to it, you should follow your instincts — because you have good instincts — and hold them accountable — Constitutionally accountable.

And please, if you have any question as to whether something is a bad idea, I encourage you to read what people posting to the blogs are saying, because there is a tremendous untapped spring of knowledge and wisdom — not just from the people who write the posts but many times and even more importantly the knowledge and wisdom of the commenters.

Thanks Senator, the first and only time I could have voted for you was as President … and I did

Senator Kerry – welcome to our little virtual town hall, our little home where we learn from each other and get motivated to make America better.

I’ve been a strong supporter of you since you first entered the Senate. As one of the few people in Michigan who stood behind your run for the Presidency even when it looked like you didn’t have a shot at the nomination, I proudly volunteered thousands of hours to help elect you to the White House. (Loved the Gordie Howe story you told us at the Hockeytown Café). Like many, I was depressed for months after the 2004 election. However, your continued courage, strength and determination after all the bullshit you’ve dealt with over the past couple decades is inspiring. Your enthusiasm and tenacity makes us all optimistic for a better future.

Thank you again for standing up against Alito and calling for Rumsfeld’s resignation.

Thank you again for standing up for our environment, and for helping more people to understand the connection between our energy needs, global political events, and the environment.

Thank you for demanding a deadline for this war.

Questions for you:
I’m a bit concerned about the role that paid contractors are filling in Iraq. (This LA Times article states that at least 180,000 civilians, paid for by US tax dollars, are working in Iraq). Are we outsourcing much of this war, partially to keep our enlisted numbers lower? Do we have paid mercenaries actually fighting in the name of the United States? Is there anything Congress can do to improve oversight of these companies, to measure their performance, or to limit their responsibilities (such as cutting off funding for organizations like Blackwater and KBR)?

Also, what actions do you think loudmouths like me should do to help encourage our government to shift their “homeland security” emphasis away from fighting in Iraq’s civil war and instead direct attention toward protecting our own borders, ports, environment, food and energy supplies? We write letters and make phone calls to Congress, but sometimes it feels like we’re talking to brick walls. Do you have any suggestions on how we can push the right buttons (or the right people) to promote such a shift in policy?

BTW, I was laughing out loud when you said Teresa is addicted to the political blogs. You are good people – just like us, but with more connections :). You really listen to the real people of America. We’ll keep pouring plenty of ideas into those “tubes”, especially if you and Teresa are reading.

Thanks so much for listening, for sharing, and for inspiring all of us.

Quick question, Senator, and thanks for posting…

Are we spending too much time behind the screen, and not enough making street noise? The blogosphere is loud, but outside world churns on uninterrupted. I feel more and more that we need to put bodies on the gears, that strikes and civil disobedience are largely missing.

God knows, blogging makes for terrible visuals.

All best,
