TRex!
Dos
Hola
I let downstairs know, TRex.
That’s what I get for finishing my spider solitaire hand while comments refresh.
I left this downstairs (still feeling brave)
Ok, I’m nobody. Just an average citizen, and a municipal employee. But it sure felt great today to make some phone calls, spurred on by Christy and the rest of the firepups. And this evening I fielded some phone calls from some pollsters who were looking for support for a Repug candidate for the VA house of delegates, and I politely but firmly refuted all of their Repug talking points and reinforced my support for the Democratic candidate.
That is all…
Shadowstalker @ 5
2 questions:
1) how do you paint the cards on them?
2) how do you get them to sit still until you’re done?
TILLMAN.
Shadowstalker @ 5
I was catching “John in Cincinatti”, not sure if I like it, it’s still just a background show for me.
Lou Costello @ 8
Tillman.
althespook@7
1) verry carefully
2) I have seven cats. It’s amazing how still spiders will sit when surrounded by seven cats.
:-)
TexB, ya here? got EPU’d, see comment 264 downstairs and althespook at 265
Alaska’s entire congressional delegation can get caught in scandals this year.
Don Young is an Abramoff baby. Ted Stevens son is up to his nostrils in slime in a case in which three state representatives were indicted. The “internet is a series of tubes” Senator is also getting unwelcomed attention because the local oil field support company paid for his remodel on his home in Girdwood. And now, it is Lisa Murkowski, who was appointed by her father when he vacated the seat to become Governor. Seems she bought some land at way below market value from a well-known crook.
LoudounLib @ 10
Really!
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 13
yes maam. was getting ready for bed. back now.
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 12
Cool! TEXB, where are you, girlio?
Man, Toni Halliday is so hot. Not since Emma Peel has a black cat-suit been worn so well by a subject of the British Empire.
Crossing over from the last thread regarding NOLA.
1. We didn’t get the convention, but we are trying to get a televised Presidential debate. If anyone here can help in this cause, please do.
2. Yes, murder is a problem here but, we have no functioning criminal justice system. Without exception, almost all the murders are drug related retaliation. Not good for the people in the drug business, but other than that the city is as safe or safer than it has ever been. It strange, this whole place goes on day to day without the rule of law, but for the most part, people get along fine. I think it was the shared experience of the hurricane.
Applebee’s sent me a Case Number for my Bill Orally complaint! I love having a Case Number. It makes me feel important
You folks are amazing. Truly.
TRex @ 17
pretty good song – kind of Garbage-esque, no?
Shadowstalker @ 11
touche! I am bested! :)
speaking of cats, did you see this from CuteOverload? Scary!
Skronky, eh? Reflecting on your prior post, I noticed nobody defended the 4 Senators need to press the flesh so early, with the earth-shattering front-loading of all the major State Primaries!!! A viable retort!!!
TeddySanFran @ 19
Woohoo! It means your complaint was taken seriously.
TeddySanFran @ 19
TSF … I got a case number too, I can’t wait to get their response !
TRex @ 17
A fellow Emma Peel addict! (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service was the best bond ever for me for that exact reason!) What does Ms. Halliday play in, been out of the loop entertainment wise for a while…?
TeddySanFran @ 19
What did you complain about?
Applebee – is he still in the race?
LoudounLib @ 6
Sorry I didn’t see this earlier, LL. Aint it a grand feeling! Like Teddy’s offical case number. Doing something feels great.
TexB @ 20
We mean it, TexB. Get some numbers. we want you to do this if you can. The Tyranny of Money Shall Not Prevail!
althespook @ 22
(((AK)))) I can’t compete, I only have one cat on my lap, occasionally, nipping me because I’m ignoring him while I type this comment out!!! *g*

Very cool LL !
BigMitch @ 13
HA!
TexB @ 27
Applebees sponsors Bill O’Reilley who tonight called for a boycott of Jet Blue because the airline is a sponsor of Yearly Kos.
Big Mitch, glad you are keeping us abreast of what is happening in Alaska with regard to the republican corruption up there. ET has been doing that but he has been busy lately.
Oh btw, here in my district in VA, the Democratic candidate for House of Delegates is an incumbent. Nice, for traditionally red Loudoun County :-)
althespook @ 26
Since we’re … em … opening up … Dr. No gave me a …
*cough* … jumpstart to puberty … I saw it when I was 4 … Ursula Andress … zowie …
This song pre-dates Garbage by about five years.
Curve, but they’ve broken up now.
Sigh.
Man, is sam Brownback a douchebag or what? I am watching him on C-Span2.
One thing he said that I don’t understand is that he is “pro-life and whole life.” What is that code for?
BigMitch @ 41
It means he’s a conservative insurance salesman
Well, I think I will head off to bed. The heat here is draining all my energy. We just broke the record for consecutive days over 90, are on track to break the record for total days over 100 in a year, and will almost certainly go down as the hottest summer ever in Missoula. God am I spoiled. In Oklahoma, it was like this or worse all summer and humid to boot.
Relating to YearlyKos 07, what do we have to do to get some love on the west coast? I think YK08 in SF would be a hit :) We’re already way ahead in Cal on the Impeachment train, with the LA Impeachment Center which just opened recently…
boxer @ 42
LOL but I don’t think he deserves another term.
BigMitch @ 41
Barefoot & pregnant. Hi Big Mitch!
G’night DrD, keep cool
LL, since I am a lifelong registered Republican, I love forking with the rethugs when they call and try those forking talking points with me. Totally blows them away when I speak as a life long republican who is madder than hell and not gonna take it any more.
Only reason I haven’t switched is to screw with the demographics when polled.
Every once in a while, Richard Cohen gets it right:

Pat Buchanan has some hard questions over at Antiwar.com:

you may not approve of the former Nixon speechwriter, but he sure can pare it down to cold essentials, and speak to corporate types in a way they understand…
3 carrier groups in the Gulf, the idiotic Leiberman amendment… the most chilling question:
maybe they are in on it?
kind of invalidates their rhetorical posturing vis-a-vis the failed Iraq war.
Maybe 4 years from now some be forced to kind of half apologize for having enabled the next war.
TRex @ 40
well I’ll be darned
Brownback is the Douchebag King. All the little Douchebags come to him for their marching orders. None can surpass his great and all-encompassing Douchebagginess.
Except Joe Lieberman, who is the hose on a Douchebag.
Good night all. The sedatives have fully worn off and my back is not happy in this position. Gonna sleep.
Wow. And I thought I was the only one who still remembered Curve — Toni Halladay and Dean Garcia. That first album was HOT; the rest not so much.
newtonusr @ 46
LOL !!!
Curve were way, way ahead of their time.
Anne Haygood @ 54
OMG, no! I looooooove “Come Clean” from 1998.
Suzanne @ 48
Sic’em, Girl, Sic’em!!! ;-)

Actually, I thought he was the nozzle on an enema bag.
Night TB, get to feeling better soon.

Wishing ya Pain-free thoughts and prayers, Ma’am!!! 8-(
Sweet dreams Betsy, and rest well
Joe Lieberman is the douchebag template from which all others are drawn.

DrDick @ 60
I thought he was the result of the enema?
althespook @ 30
what spook said. Besides, i’m a Virgo. The money was budgeted for yearlyK, do you want me to be stressed?
Brownback now answering the question, Where was God on 9-11? Says liberals kicked God out of public square, kicked Him out of schools, kicked the symbols of religion out of the public places, what do you expect?
In other words, 9-11 is the fault of liberals.
Top that, Lieberman!!!
woohoo – louis pictures! My stars, he has grown into his paws.
Suzanne @ 37
I get all my Alaska corruption news right here at FDL.
Seriously, you Alaskans do know that we hear nothing about your fabulous scandals on TradMed, right?
Jeez, punaise, he’s so big and handsome, now!
Hub-BA!!
That’s it from here pups, good night and keep up the fight!
Nighters, LL!
Applebees?
Betsy, you have FB mail.
TeddySanFran @ 71
Fall Winter Spring and Summer,
If someone’s doing something dumb,
An Alaskan does it dumber.
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 68
NDFG – Betsy and I have solved the plane ticket problem. what she needs desperately now is a good camera to use on the trip. if you have spare money that would be a good contribution (she’ll announce tomorrow once all details are in place. I want Jane to get her some sort of official credentials.) Do you have TexB’s email addy?
TRex @ 52
And Novakula, who Jon Stewart calls the Douchebag of Liberty
AK, Enchilada is spelled with one ‘L’!!! ;-)
Loo Hoo. @ 75
Applebees sponsors Bill O’Reilley who tonight called for a boycott of Jet Blue because the airline is a supporter of Yearly Kos.
Suzanne, TRex – Louis sends his best
CTuttle @ 79
picky picky picky! :)
Suzanne @ 48
Good for you, Suz. Can they still afford polling?
Speaking of Jon Stewart, doesn’t he return tonight? Should I be rubbing my hands together gleefully in anticipation of the show starting in 10 minutes here on the west coast?
TeddySanFran @ 78
BTW-Novakula was WPITW today on KO!!! ;-)
TeddySanFran @ 78
I know Novak just wrote a book and that;s why his ugly mug is all over the teevee but just from my “gut” (thanks Cherty) I think he’s trying to assuage his guilt. He can’t stop talking about Rove and his leaking. Very weird. But predictable. See his interview on CSPAN, strange.
Suzanne @ 84
Josh Rushing is the guest, tonight on his new show. Who is Josh Rushing?
althespook @ 82
Excellent Post, err… Point!!! :P
Josh Rushing was a United States Marine Captain who was a press officer for United States Central Command (CENTCOM) during the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. He became famous for his appearance in the documentary Control Room, which documented his conversations with Al Jazeera correspondent Hassan Ibrahim. After the Pentagon ordered him not to comment on the movie,[1] he left the Marine Corps and is now working for Al Jazeera English.
BigMitch @ 87
I think he’s the former US military spokesman who now works for Al Jazeera
BigMitch @ 69
Filling those fat Falwell pumps mighty prettily, Brownback is.
Good night to all. Jon Stewart is beckoning me, and then to sleep. Perchance to dream …. of impeachment.
CTuttle @ 88
It gets better. I left something out. Guess where the largest proven reserves of untapped crude oil are in the world?
Guess who has been busily arranging for sweetheart deals on tapping it if the middle east should go south??
Can you say, Bush Crime Family? I thought you could.
These guys are actually raping the world as we watch! The Chutzpah is just incredible…but the downside is if they fail, western civilization may vanish, and even if it doesn’t, THEY will.
No risk, no reward. I just wish they wouldn’t risk US on their lunatic schemes of empire…
althespook @ 77
I have the camera.
Loo Hoo. @ 94
Kewl! Can you contact her on facebook or via email? cause that’s the last piece of the puzzle!
My comment on Applebees’ website:
I am saddened at the direction this great country of ours is headed, spurred on by the likes of Bill O’Reilly and the hate he spews. I have just learned that you are a sponsor of his show and because of this I can no longer patronize your restaurants.
Not that I would eat there anyway, I used to work for a foodservice distributor so I know better.
wangdangdoodle @ 96
WDD, are you suggesting an american food restaurant chain is practicing anything other than the STRICTEST hygenic standards? I’m shocked, I tell you, Shocked!
I TOLD those dayam rats to wear the slippers and hairnets, but NOOOOOOO….
althespook @ 93
This must be what Nancy means when she says we don’t know the half of it.
I want to reply to this by althespook from the previous thread.
What I remember from the coverage of Tiannamen Square at the time pretty much squares with what you said but differs in some possibly interesting ways.
As you noted the central government brought in troops from the provinces. In the coverage I saw, the government sent those troops jogging unarmed through some place where they were confronted and lectured by the rebeling students. From the videos I saw, I’d describe the students’ demeanor as “condescending” and not particularly appreciated by those troops.
Later, in the opening engagement on the night of the msasacre, the government sent a lone armored vehicle into the square. It was surrounded by rebels, the driver was pulled from the vehicle and apparently killed by the demonstrators. Then the provincial forces were sent in.
The sociological dynamic was classical and very similar to any number of student demonstrations I’ve witnessed and what I imagine to have been involved at Kent state. Guys from one social group often resent those from another. It seems to be primal. Guys from farms often resent big-city guys, and guys from big cities often feel some superior to guys from “the sticks.” Students are often seen as particularly privileged and often see themselves are worthy of that privilege. The Chinese military commanders deliberately played to and exploited that dynamic. Once these troops saw the rebel students kill their comrad in the armored vehicle, the rest was almost inevitable. (That’s what I think I saw.)
Regarding the here-and-now in the U.S., I agree that the coup has already occurred and simply has not yet been announced — see http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/28/54615/1194 . There is, however, some question as to whether it will hold once rank-and-file Americans understand what has happened.
althespook @ 95
No it’s not. She needs the Kos registration ticket which just went up Saturday. I paid $225. way back when, don’t know what the new price is.
Loo Hoo. @ 98
IF I’m right, then that’s probably the case. My problem with this whole thing is that i normally only think this way about the BAD guys. I still have problems thinking of the United States as “The Bad Guys”(TM,SM). Sigh.
Oh, and as a final tidbit, remember the Angler piece on Dick Cheney? Turns out he wrote large portions of it himself, and vetted the final result at Wapoo. He and Chimpy got into a peeing contest. Cheney won.
Loo Hoo. @ 100
Then that is what NewDealFarmGrrrrlll can provide. You, her and and TexB need to conference, IMHO. She has paypal, BTW.
althespook @ 95
Sheesh you pups are fast! (That or i’m really tired, not used to working first shift!) So I chip some “fun” funds, wheee, we got ourselves our own Late Nite rep!
Oh, and as a final tidbit, remember the Angler piece on Dick Cheney? Turns out he wrote large portions of it himself, and vetted the final result at Wapoo. He and Chimpy got into a peeing contest. Cheney won
AK you gotta link for this?
althespook @ 97
Plus I don’t like eating food that is made in 500 gallon batches. Bleeccchhh!
Registration ticket it is! I’m supposed to email her tomorrow
Suzanne @ 104
my blog on it will be up tomorrow. and my source on the vetting at wapoo isn’t letting me quote them yet. but i suspect something on that will be out by the weekend.
valletta @ 86
KO’s comment to him tonight, after quoting his CSPAN interview of yesterday, “Don’t you understand? [Rove] played you like a fiddle.” But that was for the Countdown audience. Of course, Novak knows how one hand washes the other.
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 103
per above, we need to tap you for the reg fee, I think….
althespook @ 93
I can think of two Northern untapped reservoirs, and, I’m not looking at ANWAR!!! Athabascan Tar Sands is one, and the other is the current territorial war within the Arctic Ocean!!!
wangdangdoodle @ 105
I understand it goes down a lot better while watching Bill O’Craply. A matter of worse versus worst, IMHO…
(sigh) I totally missed KO tonight. And the rerun (deep sigh)
CTuttle @ 110
US Strategic Oil Reserve….
althespook @ 111
Hah! That sounds like a surefire recipe for heartburn and indigestion.
So where do I find your blog?
Do we have a link to AK’s blog?
wangdangdoodle @ 114

Ravings Of A Rational Mind.
althespook @ 109
Dayam, I can hop easily to Scott AFB from Hickam AFB, but, subsisting on a finite fixed income, it is a mere pipe dream!!! *g*
Loo Hoo. @ 117
Loo Hoo, do you know how to coerce/bribe Jane into giving TexB some sort of official FDL badge or something? Maybe some cheesecake pix involving TRex and a taser…..? :) (seriously, i’d like her to have the credentials if possible)
AK, you would have to get ahold of Siun, the Press Secretary for the Lake. You can get ahold of her via the contact us link at the top of the page.
wigwam @ 108
I’ve never figured out how to recapture past Kos articles, but there was one (today?) about Rove having committed treason with the outing of Val.
Suzanne @ 112
I didn’t think it was one of his better efforts. Good, but not great. I was under the impression that he would have a special comment on Tillman. No. But he continues (as I’m sure GE requires) with his ridiculous “Oddball” pablum.
Suzanne @ 121
Thank you suzanne! I think it better, on reflection, if TexB does it. I’ll pass this on to her.
Loo Hoo. @ 122
Rove has had his grubby paws on every Governmental function, Doan is the mere tip of that fatal iceberg!!!
Whew. all this emailing, facebooking, commenting…gotta go to bed at this point, but i’m so pleased! Glad to be a part of a great group getting great things done! Nighters…
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 126
NDFG, these are the leaders of the new Progressive Party Of America. I kid you not. You are now part of the future. (Hint: now that I have finally begun to see clearly what the Bush Crime Family/Imperial Cheney Praetorate is after, I can let my friends know and we can do our best to spike their wheels, internally and invisibly. Once they go down it will be time for a new political party in american and FDL is its seedling tray.)
Have I been gone long? I think I’ve entered a fugue state, which is a malady among composers. I’d rather be writing rags.
Loo Hoo. @ 122
http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..142056/397
It seems like a long time, ET. How ya doing?
althespook @ 120
No clout here, talk to the therapod. It may be out of Jane’s hands too, being Marcos’ gig.
Guys my brain just went Blue Screen Of Death, but I have one final point to make:
We need to get hard evidence that people like Sara Taylor are being forced (or are willingly doing so) to swear “personal loyalty oaths” to Chimpy. It may not be illegal, but it sure as hell reeks of Triumph Of The Will. This needs to be majorly highlighted.
(poof)
newdealfarmgrrrlll @ 126
Night, sweets.
about 127:
That sounds like I’m part of a vast secret system or something. that’s not it. i’m just a retired intel guy who knows a lot of people from those days who listen to me. if i can show them (the ones with the real power) what chimpy is up to, they’ll fry his ass. right now they can’t see it and aren’t willing to commit to a battle they might not win (Impeach/convict/indict/imprision/try/convict/???)
sorry, brain fizzing out here….
(wving to all the sleepy and/or BSOD pups)
Ed*ard Teller @ 128
Come on, ET. Post your music for Late Night.
althespook @ 132
My guess is that was a Freudian shit.
althespook @ 132
I thought the same thing the minute I heard her say it! G’night AK, got your blog bookmarked.
Y’all let know if you come up a little short for TexB, I’m happy to kick in what I can.
I’m out, too. Sweet dreams everyone.
punaise @ 63
Hey, what is that purple-tinged pot plant doing in the background, Pun?
althespook @ 127
Romeo Daillaire said in 2003 that the Iraq invasion was really to establish bases in the Persian Gulf, to secure oil and natural gas from possible Chinese takeover … I don’t know if he saw this far AK and I wish you and your friends success !
jacqrat, that happens to be a japanese maple.
Suzanne @ 141
right you are, nothing to see here folks…
jacqrat @ 139
Japanese Maple.

Harriet Meirs’ failure to appears constitutes a major constitutional crisis, which is exactly what Bush intends. They’ve thrown down the gauntlet, and are waiting to see if there are any vertebrates on the other side.
Suzanne @ 141
Aw. You always spoil the fun, Suz!
wangdangdoodle @ 138
I’m planning a trip to hear some blues. Maybe something for a night out?
Suzanne @ 141
Still the fastest draw at the Lake …
Petrocelli @ 147
blowing smoke off fingers – and i’m on a dialup
Since before the invasion of Iraq I have believed that cheney’s energy task force plotted the invasion with Darth. All of them need to be in the dock with the BCF/ICP just as the German industrialists were in 46/47. Big Oil will have to be broken-up just a IG Farben and others were.
To The Hague!
Hey, Suzanne!
The sun is going down on the nicest day so far in July. 75 degrees here today with bright sun and a nice breeze. The breeze helped, ’cause the dryer died yesterday, so we dried clothes on clothes lines today. That got us thinking about doing it more often. They smell better, but the cloth is stiff.
Writing music all morning and early afternoon in the studio. A rag dedicated to my friend Gordon Wright, who passed in February. He was 72 years old and about 6′7″. Years ago, he made a casket for himself, because he thought caskets for really tall people sucked. He put it on his porch, and that’s where they found him sitting last winter, at about 30 degrees below. When some of Gordon’s friends found him, only Robert Service was lacking.
20 years ago, he helped get me back into writing music after I had stopped for over a decade. I wrote this rag back then, which Gordon liked. He worked a lot on music by Scott Joplin with Butch Thompson, the piano player on Prairie Home Companion, so my new piece has to be really good to do this big guy justice.
wigwam @ 144
One simple analogy springs to mind: Nixon:Dean; Bush:Meirs!!! Houston, we have a problem…!!! *g*
Loo Hoo. @ 136
Your wish is my command – at #150…
Can’t sleep. I am back. Perhaps 2 naps was enough!
ET, liquid fabric softener will help with that stiff sun drying – in the last rinse cycle.
I remember when you told us about your friend being found I have faith you will do him proud, ET.
(cursing that would make my career navy dad blush) i wish the tech guys would tell me when they are going to tweak the servers
Suzanne @ 148
I can only imagine how lethal you’d be on cable!!! *g*
they did tweak them, didn’t they Suzanne.
new zed
Quite frankly, the servers are severely lagging on this thread!!! I was timed out three times in FF, MSN couldn’t even find it!!! WTF!!!
Suzanne @ 154
Oh, good, I was afraid that our “help desk” had found FDL and shut it down for me.
It appears so, ET. fingers and toes crossed they are done (still grumblin)
I believe that was the postponed Friday upgrade.
Was it my daughter’s computer or did the tubes freeze here at The Lake? My laptop crashed earlier so I’m getting edgy.
Shadowstalker,
Hanging clothes to dry is a piffle for the help desk at fdl. How about dealing with Joe Wilson endorsing Hillary Clinton? I could feel this place creak.
Loo Hoo. @ 162
servers decided i needed to get a post-offline zed.
Twas here at the Lake, LooHoo.
ET, I felt the same cosmic shift when I heard that about Joe Wilson.
Loo Hoo, does your camera have a USB connection?
Ed*ard Teller @ 163
I’ve been wondering on that little factoid all evening, myself.
1) Why is Joe stepping into the endorsement bidness?
2) What’s in it for HRC? In my opinion, she needs to stay far, far away from the whole Scooter thing. It’s too easy for the Clinton haters to spin.

awesome song.
thanks, TRex.
Dang, can’t quote, no refresh button, something has impacted the Lake!!!
CTuttle @ 151
Agreed. BushCo has a very definite endgame in mind, one that involves permanent control of U.S. politics by a fascist coalition involving corporate interests, Israeli intersts, and evangelical christian interests, among others. I don’t claim to understand who is at t he top of this, but I don’t like fascism regardless of whom it serves.Felix Moronia @ 149
Damn right!
tex, once you tell me you got that, i’ll tweak that email addy
Suzanne @ 173
tweak away.
CTuttle @ 171
CT, do a hard refresh F5 on a pc – that should bring your buttons back – sometimes the server tweak will mess up the page you have loaded (or so I have been told)
Wilson’s endorsement is a high quality endorsement for the front-runner in the “polls” at an important time. Notice that she was absent today in the Senate. Unless the media gets sucked into Reid’s attempt at courage, she’ll be gone from the Senate all week.
So, Wilson’s endorsing a candidate who has neglected all but a few utterly symbolic netroots appearances since the 2006 mid-terms? Sez alot…
She has got to be the most careful politician whose craft I have ever witnessed. Yet. Obama is pretty dispassionate too.
TexB @ 167
I don’t know. It’s called a Canon PowerShot SD900. I’ll bring all the goodies.
Ed*ard Teller @ 163
I gave up on Joe when I saw his lawyer on Hardball last week (Melanie Sloan).,
CTuttle @ 171
Something has impacted the entire fuc*ing country. And it ain’t pretty.
Suz, I have been! The only recourse I have! I’ve tried to quote 175, 3 times, I don’t even have the infernal spinning wheel, for any function!!! *g*
Loo Hoo. @ 179
Impeachment is the F5 key for our country.
Loo Hoo. @ 179
Just do a full reload. It’s way faster than “refresh”.
Loo Hoo. @ 179
Unfortunately – very fucking unfortunately – George W. Bush is the president this country continues to deserve…
ET – thanks for posting your music, a fitting homage to your friend.
way different, but this evening I am enamored of a piece from Verde’s Rigoletto. I’m no opera buff, but is there anything as sweet as ‘Gualtier Malde!…Caro Nome’? (sample #4 at this link). It was featured in the Match Point soundtrack that punaise family gals were watching in the next room.
yellowdog jim – thanks for the Curve info.
Loo Hoo, it says it comes with “Computer interface: USB 2.0 high-speed with mini-B jack”
Suzanne @ 173
Thanks, Suz. We can fit three in the room. I’ll sleep on the floor! Come with us…
TexB @ 182
nice. can we clear the cache while we’re at it?
Ed*ard Teller @ 183
Yes, but let’s get rid of him anyway.
punaise @ 187
Just get the cache out of the election process and we’ll be fine.
CTuttle @ 180
CT, reboot your browser and then come back to the Lake. I ended up having to do that to get all my stuff working backstage.
LooHoo, I’m here selling the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods. And if a buyer comes along, then I will be packing and moving.
Just not in the cards this year – next for sure. email tweaked :)
punaise,
‘Gualtier Malde!…Caro Nome’? – is one of my best friend’s fave. He’s like a Rigoletto nut! I do like that song though, and thought Woodie Allen’s use of it was hilarious.
TexB @ 189
I say upgrade to Gore 2.0 !!!
Aargh!!! I hear ya’ll but I’m unable to quote ya and properly respond! I notice some of you can quote, I’m on PC FF with cable, are you quoters on Macs?
La Digby has an interesting take on the Mitt p0rn kerfuffle:
Petrocelli @ 193
Gore-Webb, version 2008
CTuttle @ 194
PC/FF/DSL, no problema aqui
I am quoting on a mac.
Petrocelli @ 193
ReElect President Gore & VP Edwards 2008!
Ed*ard Teller @ 196
I like Gore/Edwards … I don’t see how Hillary will be kept off the ballot, due to her polling numbers …
CTuttle @ 194
PC, FF, dialup – CT, reboot your computer and then try again. I’ll hang here until we get you up and running.
anyone ever notice that preview sometimes “eats” URLs? just happened to me with the Digby link.
newspaperbrat @ 199
Hey NPB … I was thinking of you while writing @ 200 … that should be the slogan … Re- Elect Gore !!!
punaise @ 202
That is because i neglected to feed it snack this evening.
TexB @ 185
Oh. *G* What does that mean?
CT, what i’ve been told is that depending on what your computer was doing when the servers went down, it could have your system spinning its wheels when on this page. A reboot of your computer system should resolve the problem.
TexB @ 204
now we know…
punaise @ 202
dang, you stumped me with that one pun.
Loo Hoo. @ 205
It means that you plug one end of that thingie into the camera and the other end into the computer,
then you can transfer the pix to the computer, then onto the toobz !
Loo Hoo. @ 205
A white or black cord that fits into the computer on one end and the camera on the other.
Suzanne @ 201
Watch out, CTuttle – a webcam just caught Suzanne entering a telephone booth. Then there was a poof and the toobz tweaked. In your direction.
pun, it showed up backstage and i don’t have a clue what happened to it when it got here.
Suzanne @ 191
Understand. ’08’s really the real deal!
G’nite all !!!
Keep pressuring those Congresscritters to Impeach Bush/Cheney !
Suzanne @ 212
somehow the [a href = etc] stuff just vaporizes on occasion. I’ve since edited it back in.
Suz@206, Been there, done that!!! Still no Quote, wheel, etc…, I guess it’s a sign! I’ll bid another fond adieu to the Lake! With faith in the Servers, that all will be tranquil in the morn!!! Aloha Oe!!!
CTuttle @ 194
Actually I am on a Mac tonight because my brand new laptop crashed. Maybe it was a blessing from TRex?
Gotta take that sucker in tomorrow though.
sorry CT see ya tomorrow
Petrocelli @ 203
Hey Petrocelli – I like the poetic justice of a Gore/Edwards ticket. Gore & Edwards won their respective elections and robbed by Shrub/Darth/Rover. I hope they both show up at YK2 & Hillary, Obama etc et al are stuck in Washington earning their executive pay. ;~)
Gore / Edwards would work for me. Good night!
punaise @ 220
Sweet pun rich dreams.
Petrocelli @ 209
Let me give that a whirl. *G*
newspaperbrat @ 219
for a change? you hit it on the head.
BTW – 3 weeks after solstice. My computer clock says midnight. I’m typing outside with no external light. Not as bright as on the solstice, but with a clear sky, stunning.
that sounds wonderful et – but on the other hand, ya don’t get much sunshine in those winter months.
Ed*ard Teller @ 223
Amazing. Can’t even imagine.
the tradeoffs tend to be extreme, Suzanne.
one day i will make it up there, et – and i can promise ya it won’t be in winter. i have a bad history of not doing well in 70 mph winds.
well folks, i was sore and achy enough as it was without the bumpy server ride. that’s about it for me tonight – see ya same bat time, same bat channel for tomorrow’s late nites.
Listening to Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote for the first time in years. I feel Shrub in there somewhere, but, but…
Suzanne @ 227
sleep well my friend
ET,
I have a girlfriend going on a cruise to Alaska at the end of the month. She’s taking a $400. helicopter ride to a glacier. Rip-off or worth it? Do you know?
Suzanne @ 227
the modest mod of them all – {{{Suzanne}}}
Loo Hoo. @ 230
RIPOFF. Tell her to cancel if the ride is less than two hours long – in the air.
Ed*ard Teller @ 232
I had that sense, ET. Thanks for confirming!
Loo Hoo. @ 100
Oh dear I’m sad to report YK2 registration closed on Saturday and I barely met the deadline.
Ed*ard Teller @ 231
DING!
Loo Hoo,
It is probably a ride from Talkeetna to the Ruth Glacier Ampitheatre (and back, right?), at that price. Almost worth it on about 15 days a year, but a stretch, even then. I can’t think of another ride offered to cruise ship passengers which would compete with that one for $400.
HORSESHIT!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..amp;sub=AR
Loo Hoo. @ 237
Apparently, you don’t trust this guy yet. Why not give him some more time to
CTuttle @ 194
Okay, I’m quoting you here on a PC XP Pro on FF. If you see this, it has worked.
Ed*ard Teller @ 236
I’m not sure. I just wish I’d had a chance to ask your advise before she started getting all touristy. I sure will ask when I get to visit Alaska, and I’ll ask if she can revise said helicopter tour. Thank you.
Nighty night you tres cool, tireless and inspiring rascals! Its been no small treat as always.
Loo Hoo. @ 237
So, here’s the money line:
That innocent sounding phrase: “Israel’s right to exist” is subject to a lot of interpretation.
Most zionist insist that to exist Israel must be the homeland of the Jewish people and that Jews must be dominant in that portion of (what was formerly known as) Palestine. Per the Wikipedia:
In other words, recognizing “Israel’s right to exist” may necessitate condoning certain crimes against humanity, depending on how one defines that right and those crimes.
Is my blue thingy there?
Dang inner toobs.
Good morning, pups. The NYT serves up Bobo who almost drowned in Kool-Aid and cocktail wienies when he went to see W at the White House. His piece would almost be funny if it weren’t so tragic. Bob Herbert writes on Sen. Obama’s visit to Chicago, where he addressed the murders of public school children.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
Coffee and tea are ready, and in celebration of my return to work I got some croissants at the bakery. They’re delicious just plain, but do try some of the pear preserves. Have a good day.
Good morning!
Marion, After your comment I decided to read BoBo, sorry after this paragraph I had to stop. “Conservatives are supposed to distrust government, but Bush clearly loves the presidency. Or to be more precise, he loves leadership. He’s convinced leaders have the power to change societies. Even in a place as chaotic as Iraq, good leadership makes all the difference.”
JPL @ 247
I was just wishing I hadn’t read it at all!
JPL and Elliott, I tried to give fair warning about how delusional he is today. (Even more than usual in my opinion, and he’s set the bar pretty high for himself…)
Marion in Savannah @ 249
well, thank you for the croissants! mmm ;)
morning!
just fyi – i’m trying to improve the weekly congressional hearings list… here’s this week’s list. it was a big update this week, since i converted the whole thing into a mini-blog. now you can leave me a comment with your suggestion, correction (especially if i’m missing a hearing you are interested in).
Can we have a Vitter joke thread…just for a little levity?
Here’s mine.
Senator Vitter no longer has to call Madame Palfrey’s Escort Service. After a heart-to-heart talk with Mrs. Vitter she’s agreed to be the only one to Pamper him. ;-)
Early morning cspan:
Cspan2, before the Senate starts:
Veterans Affairs Mental Health Program, 7:56am eastern for 2 hours
Cspan1, before the House:
Washington Journal, call – in, now til 9.
thanks egregious, listening to washington journal now. good discussion on fda oversight.
thanks eg for the Cspan listings.
Good morning everyone – I’m going upthread to catch up.
Big Mitch, if you’re up, question: is it likely that Pat Tillman was ordered to keep his ideas to himself in the same way as the soldier you wrote about earlier? Just went up to find it but can’t yet.
Ladies:
Excellent work to compel Senator Reid to force the pending all-nighter…with the simple phrase:
“Senator Reid, Do your job!”
The individual photos of American Citizens holding signs is perfect…and thousands of these would have a greater impact than any protest in the streets (since any such protest would not be broadcast by the Pravda-like “news” organizations under the full control of Mr. Goebbels, er, rather, Rove.
I think it’s time to turn that into a full blown netroots campaign across ALL participating blogs, targeting each Senator by name, one at a time. Call it the “DO YOUR JOB” campaign in defense of the US Constitution.
For the record, Nancy Pelosi’s JOB is to impeach this entire administration.
“Senator Pelosi – DO YOUR JOB!”
selise @ 254
You’re welcome, and thanks for the Selise Hearings List :)
I’m hoping to find some way to encourage a lot more pups to call in to shows like Washington Journal. We’ve got the knowledge and the passion.
Shadowstalker @ 168
1) Joe endorsed Kerry publicly, too.
2) HRC can use Wilson’s endorsement and his voice in two ways that serve her.
a) Before the Iraq War, Joe Wilson was outspoken on the need for a military presence at the borders of Iraq to compel Saddam to put the UN Arms Inspections teams back in. He believed that inspections were appropriate.
b) Wilson’s case is a prime example of how information was manipulated and “stovepiped”, even to Congress.
Both of these help Hillary’s assertion that voting for the Congressional Authorization to Use Force to compel Saddam to abide by UN sanctions were appropriate. She “trusted Bush”…”Bush lied”.
One can certainly argue all you want about her gullibility for believing Bush. She looks a fool in retrospect. Certainly it indicates that she should have worked harder to make certain that the Authorization was MORE LIMITED. And she continued to vote in favor of all those “supplementals”.
As it is the current “deauthorization” is the product of her “framing” this argument. It actually gets a lot of Congress off the hook for supporting the “Occupation”, since the Resolution restricts use of force to compelling Saddam and Iraq to abide to UN Sanctions. It also states that the use of force would NOT impair the effort to curtail the military efforts against terrorism in Afghanistan.
Since the invasion and occupation has been shown to have actually INCREASED the recruitment, arming and training of terrorists, while weakening the fight in Iraq vlearly Bush violated this part of the authorization. Indeed, continuous occupation would appear to go far beyond the 60-day authorization of military force envisaged by the War Powers Act for such resolutions.
Hillary can use Wilson perfectly in such issues! He tried to warn the President off…but was the “prophet shouting in the desert”.
egregious -
Probably get epu’s but did you hear the last caller on the FDA segment who said salmonella = TB? Wonder where that ignorant talking point came from? ;-(
just catching up on LateNight – my message to Applebys – i note that Bill O’Reilly is calling for sponsors of YKos convention to be boycotted. Well, i go to the YKos conventions – i went to the first one and am going to the second one in two weeks and will go to any other that happens.
Therefore, i think it only reasonable that i boycott the sponsors of Bill O’Reilly – i and my huge family. Sayonara, Applebys. There’s plenty of other restaurants out there.
Withdraw your support for Bill O’Reilly and we all will be right back in a flash.
cinnamonape @ 257
i think senator clinton looked like at fool at the time.
and while i admire the truth telling of joe wilson now, i’ve always been a bit wary – since he says all good things about president bush 41 and nothing about all the lies we (and congress) were told to convince everyone to get behind gulf war 1.
if lying a country into war is wrong now, wasn’t it wrong then too? i think so.
yeah, me and my family of 2
JPL @ 247
being a curious type of person, i read the whole thing. Brooks did something interesting at the conclusion of his piece. He compared Fuckwad’s world view with that of Tolstoy, and he left us to choose. Now, who would you choose, Fuckwad or Tolstoy?
Intentionally or not, Bobo pointed us to this:
We have only to remember Fuckwad’s harping about not caring for public opinion but letting History judge his presidency. i wonder if he’s read Tolstoy? There was the claim, last summer, that he had read Camus. Maybe it was the Cliff Notes ……
Waccamaw, there’s a vast ocean of ignorance out there. Where to start. One of our charity’s actual goals is to fight stupidity. It could be phrased more politely, but that’s part of what we’re trying to accomplish.
Works on this side of the ocean too.
Suzanne @ 166
I am thinking very hard about Joe’s endorsement of HRC. I respect that this family sees things I know nothing about.
Maybe I should try to learn more about those very things.
hahah. c-span1:
has anyone ever looked at president bush’s decision making? is he crazy?
new thread
BigMitch @ 36
Okay~ I wonder if Applebee’s INTERNATIONAL would really appreciate the revelation that they sponsor the anti-Arab, anti-Mexican, anti-Brazilian, etc. spews of Dild O’Reilly!
Applebee’s has franchises in Bahrein, Brazil, Canada (19), Chile,
Ecuador, Egypt, Greece (2), Guatemala, Honduras (4), Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico (lots! 19 ), Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
I don’t think that Applebee’s would be appreciative of it being widely known that the sponsor O’Reilly’s racist and extremist claptrap.
Bad for business “down in the neighborhood” and all that!
http://www.applebees.com/Inter…..tions.aspx
Boston1775 @ 264
i admire joe and valerie wilson a great deal. they are smart, and courageous beyond belief.
that doesn’t mean i like joe wilson’s politics. i don’t. in fact, i reject his concept of what our foreign policy should be. did you read the thread when sestak was here for blue america?
…..and when you compare what Bobo said about Fuckwad and what Peggy Noonan said, they are BOTH laying subtle hints that W has to be on some serious pharmacological “worldview” shapers.
i rarely read Noonan and i have hardly ever read Brooks, but if they come away from a meeting with him and both describe his mood and tone in the way that they did, it surely merits reading between the lines. Rulers used to, and as recently as Sadam, have tasters to check their food to make sure they weren’t being poisoned. the only question i have is, is Fuckwad self-medicating or is Chick Daney taking care of it?
Morning gang — fresh thread if you want it.
Ah, late to the game, but I’d just say: any fans of Garbage who listen through Curve’s Döppelganger will get the same feeling as Denis Leary fans listening to Bill Hicks. They did it first, and they did it better.
(And the Peel Session they did around that time is possibly even better than the album.)
