I think you have no idea how offensive this comment is. I disagree with Joe Lieberman on many, many, if not most issues, even though I voted for him. But to equate his support for Israel with dual loyalty, which is a code-word for treason, is beyond the pale.

If Lieberman loved Israel more than he loves America, he could exercise his rights under the Israeli constitution to move there and become a citizen under the Law of Return.

You are right: I have no idea how offensive my comment was, or why it was offensive. I’ve read your further comments and I still don’t know why it’s offensive.

May I add that I wonder what the loyalties of Miami’s Cuban-Americans are? Are they Americans, or Cubans? Is that too simplistic?

The entire issue of loyalty cloaks the question of what aspect of a country one is loyal to. I’m loyal to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, but not to Bush’s signing statements. Am I loyal to preserving the existence of Israel? Not necessarily — I don’t have a dog in that fight, nor is adherence to the concept of Israel a requirement for being a loyal American.

Our national debate must include these issues, and to bring them up is not anti-Semitism. We have to weigh out what’s best and right for us. I don’t see Iran as the threat that Joe Lieberman sees, and I try to figure out why he is so panicked. It is fair to wonder if his priorities are different from mine, and from many other Americans.

(it is almost a guarantee that you will get hammered) I grandparents came from France, Poland, and Ireland I do not support these countries if they are breaking UN resolutions and occupying other peoples land,( question my own country the U.S. for being in violation of Un resolutions) why not Israel? Why not question all of our leaders including Liebermann on this unbridled support of Israel no matter what they do.

If any other country (Ireland, Poland, Russia) had “allegedly” been involved in receiving classified intelligence about Iran from Polish, Irish or Russian lobbyist and this classified intelligence was handed to Polish, Irish, or Russian officials the news coverage on this would be astronomical. Yet we hear or read very little in the MSM or the so-called “liberal” blogs about this ongoing investigation and delayed A*P*C Rosen espionage trial. You have to search far and wide for info on this issue.

Did anyone see or hear much coverage on the 50 Jewish groups that recently met with the Bush administration? I had heard that the press did not have access. Would we not question this if this had to do with any other lobbying group?

I don’t think Kennedy made any effort to take away peoples contraceptives, or impose Catholic ideology on anyone.

Liebermann, however, appears to take repeated actions that ostensibly support L*kud*st/A*P*C agendas. I don’t necessari;y think that what Joe has done has actually improved the security of Israel, though. How could replacement of a fairly isolated secularist regime under strict sanctions be more of a threat than a Shiite one that has a highly radicalized population due to war and occupation (and abuts Iran that has a vitriolic anti-Israeli leader).

JFK did not have dual citizenship as Liebermann does. Also JFK was one of the last Presidents to stand up to the Israeli lobby (he demanded that Israel sign onto the non-proliferation treaty and open their doors to inspections) go to the International Atomic Energy Agency Website (IAEA) to find more info about this issue. He was murdered and the only other President to attempt to stand up to the lobby was Carter we was ousted.

Yes the blogs are willing to tackle Joe but not willing to really address the A*I*C Rosen espionage investigation trial that keeps being delayed. Joe and his Israeli firster zealots are trying their best to have this trial dismissed.

The MSM have barely touched or discussed this investigation trial and most blogs fall into line with the MSM on this critical issue.

Justin Raimando at anti-war.com and Bill and Kathleen Christison at Counterpunch have written some very informative pieces about this critical issue.

Did Bernie Sanders or any other Independant every get approached for their views so often? If the MSM was really trying to get “a full spectrum of views” shouldn’t they be getting more than “Lieb-All Day, Every Day”?

This would eliminate Cheney and all he stands for, all his positions, as formally and officially rejected by the US government AND it would eliminate Lieberman as a force of anything. He is NOT a Dem and his votes in the Senate are objectively and effectively GOP anyway so losing him and letting the GOPer Governor of CT appoint a replacement for him would NOT be a net loss to the Dems in the senate. Lieberman would NOT be able to refuse as it would feed his ego no end. The other plus is that there would be NO way EVER that Joe could leverage this into a (successful) run for President. He would be dead politically and Ned Lamont would be positioned to take his position in the senate.

To end, Jane…I am tickled by your use of the term “bug fucking crackers”. It makes my weekend.

Lieberman is just a demagogue, and nobody calls him on it.
