I hope we don’t lose sight of the details here. We must stay focused on Cheney. This is his chief of staff getting pardoned here. Who surely is privy to mucho that we the people need to know…….for our safety goddammit.
Bush made this decision with the advice of “just a few close advisers”………do you all remember back as far as, oh let’s see, last week? And the Cheney expose in the WAPO? Which adviser is last in line before decider guy decides? Are the American people stoopid? Not sure, but don’t think so. Brainwashed? Jane already answered that one. “We are in the midst of the greatest brainwashing campaign in history” Seattle Representative (and psychologist) Jim McDermott, at the Oct. 2002 antiwar rally in Seattle.

I think this shows that Scooter never really left the White House. This was understood all along–a conviction, at worst, for Libby, followed by commutation or pardon. No jail time.

Did the White House Counsel’s office communicate with the Libby legal team on matters of strategy? Were they acting as a joint defense on the theory that Cheney was the invisible defendant?

Get Tough says: “Commuting sentences to the Founders was meant as a way to grant “justice” for those wrongly accused, or the lack of decency or fairness in a trial necessitated the executive to intervene. IT WAS NOT MEANT TO GET YOUR BUDDIES OFF OF THE HOOK.”

I don’t know the history of pardons and commutation, and the intent of the founding fathers, but I do recall that President Clinton let buddies off the hook at the end of his term. And I don’t see the Libby outcome being any more (or less) repugnant than the Sandy Berger outcome.

We either have to be honest about how this stinking aspect of politics works and demand it change (for all who practice it), or else just look the other way and mush on.

Scooter has something on Dicky and Dickey has something on Georgie it’s obvious and everyone supporting this farce of justice has their own nasty little secret. This house of cards needs only another breeze to blow them away the winds of change are beginning, A Nor’easter is in progress.

This whole darn thing started over the yellow cake intel. Joe Wilson did a good job in Afrika. He found the link to Saddam and the Bush Administration twisted around all the intel to make it look like Valerie sent Joe to Afrika. Valerie told Congress hey I did not send JW to Afrika but the CIA lied and said yes you did. I think Libby should go to jail for not remembering the facts in his case because he wasn’t even the one who told Novak.

Mark Rich, represented by Libby, Clinton pardons.

HILLARY BETTER GET OUT IN FRONT OF THIS, IF SHE STAYS SILENT I THINK SHE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO FUCKING TASLK

I think we need to contact her

we need to contact EVERY DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR THE PRESIDENCY

our cnadidates MUST talk about this the way it is;

THE PRESIDENT COMMUTED THE SENTENCE OF A COVICTED FELON, CONVICTED OF COVERING THE TRACKS OF TREASON

and THAT’S the way they need to discuss this, they need to POUND the republican candidates and

CHALLENGE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES TO AGREE WITH THE PRESIDENT

when they do our candidates need to be INCENSED that they forgive the actions of this traitor

MAKE THIS THE ISSUE REPUBLICANS ARE FORCED TO BACK AWAY FROM THE PRESDIENT

it’s EASY to do,

I wonder what the folks in the DOJ Office of the Pardon Attorney think about Bush’s respect for the system. (Emphasis added below)

Pardon Attorney Roger C. Adams

The Office of the Pardon Attorney, in consultation with the Attorney General or his designee, assists the President in the exercise of executive clemency as authorized under Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution. Under the Constitution, the President’s clemency power extends only to federal criminal offenses. All requests for executive clemency for federal offenses are directed to the Pardon Attorney for investigation and review. The Pardon Attorney prepares the Department’s recommendation to the President for final disposition of each application. Executive clemency may take several forms, including pardon, commutation of sentence, remission of fine or restitution, and reprieve.

All requests? Did Scooter file papers with the DOJ for this?
