It takes a whole lot for me to feel any sympathy whatsoever for The Oval Occupant, but this did tug at me a little:
Even if he tries to avoid the media surround sound, Bush cannot help running into criticism. A group of moderate House Republicans bluntly told him during a recent White House meeting that he had become a drag on the party. And when the president invited conservative radio host Laura Ingraham for a bike ride last month, she upbraided him for his position on immigration.
You just know that bike-ride time is quiet time for Chimpy. Poor him! — having to listen to Laura Ingraham squawk about the Mescans.

Lots’a musos hangin’ out here…
hey teddy!
i loved learning about the sisters and being all over their website. and then having the one and only sister mable syrup join us was just too divine.
compassion for bush just seems to escape me right now. has been escaping me ever since i worked so hard on the 2004 election for fear of the appointment of supreme court justices and our rapid descent into fascism. i may get some compassion for him, but my most positive feelings for him at this point are total frustration (and it just goes downhill from there).

Couldn’t happen to a nicer individual!!! 8-)
The final days of a lame duck:
9:00 am: Biking with Laura Ingraham
10:30 am: Swimming with Bob Novak
12:30 pm: Lunch with Ken Mehlman
2:20 pm: Photo op with the Snowflake Kids
3:00 pm: Read about George Washington
4:00 pm: Find Valley Forge on Google Maps
5:00 pm: Beer Thirty with Barney
It tugs at me in a tee-hee kinda way, not a compassionate kinda way.
Can you imagine being anywhere with Laura Ingraham?

Also, the Iraqi Government that doesn’t keep count of civilian deaths has just announced that civilian deaths have dropped by 36% in June…said a gov’t spokesman on the condition of anonymity.
Joe Lieberman was right!

Johnson railed against his fate..Being stuck with JFK’s, “we’ll stop them in Viet..naaam” war. I think African Americans are the only group who appreciate Lyndon Johnson.

Now I do not know for whom I will vote for President. The Obamas are tied to WALMART
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/…..mart-link/
and the Clintons also have a relationship with that corporation.
I guess this leaves Edwards, Dodd and Biden.
But after I learned of Michelle Obama’s deep ties to WAL-MART, I realized I have to reconsider my support for Obama.
Well, dear friends, I am expected to actually be IN my office around 10 tomorrow. Which means I may need some sleep shortly. Have a wonderful Monday all.

Loo Hoo. @ 37
you go girl!
IANAL and I’m desperately trying to figure out how to keep Bush from avoiding justice and accountability. FWIW, I’ve put what I’ve found out into this diary at Dkos.
just saw Ahmadinejad’s chart…whoo boy. It looks like the chart of an overinflated, meglomaniac with a very aggressive nature… a sneaky bastard as well…vengeful. Not afraid of death, in fact, his whole life is about the ultimate transformation.
Also wanted to mention that Hillary is now weighed way down with Saturn transits and oppositions for awhile. over soon tho.
Bush is way in the bubble right now and it is getting bigger not smaller so beware.
…Cheney’s chart not so good for him, he could easily blow a gasket.
spidey – i finally got your message to margot. i’m liking your reading of cheeney’s chart :)
…where is Margot anyway?
Yoo hoo to Spiderpaws, if in the vicinity.
(PS: have you joined facebook.com?)
Wow, you’re here already!
Margot: still feeling the bricks? If so, it is temporary. the feeling of lost power is transiting saturn sitting on your natal pluto in Leo, not fun. and don’t forget it is mercury retrograde til the 10th of this month so don’t sign any papers to move your abode or anything like that til it’s over. any questions? Quick, am running a bath, been in the garden all day.
hi spidey
hi margot
okay, all, i’m off to bed.
thanks for communing at the lake tonite!
No questions, spidey, thanks!
Michael Novak, quoted in the article, is a real lunatic. What is it with crazy Novaks in D.C.
g’nite teddy, sleep well
…’kay then, am off to degrunge
Nite Teddy, sleep well.
…teddybear, sleep tight
enjoy your bath, spidey… thanks for the good bad news for cheeney
What a weird article that was in the WaPo! oh poor pitiful him. The fact that his popularity has been below 50% since the beginning of his 2nd term makes me wonder more than ever about the integrity of the 2004 election.
Helluva time to be talking to theologians and philosophers.
rxbusa, did you read the tenet takedown piece in salon? punaise linked it earlier but in case you didn’t see it, here it is.
well, that’s about it for me tonight, firepups. see ya tomorrow night, same bat channel, same bat time.
In four minutes, this video will explain everything that’s wrong with Chris Matthews and his choice of guests.
TheOtherWA @ 58
Jeezus. There is really something wrong with Tweety. Seriously. How much more looney does someone have to get before they’re fired? Would love to see the ratings of his show compared to Olbermann over the last year. Nice video, by the way!
morning all.
happy “bring ‘em on” day. :(
Morning from GA

I was actually encouraged by this story. Here’s a leading Prez candidate saying he’s not going to shop at Walmart?!? That’s great! I hope this sparks more debate about the issue, and more and more people will understand the high cost of low price..
Thanks to Barack for taking a stand, and thanks to Michele for making things right.
Still either Edwards or Obama for me. Was looking into Dodd more, but he gets most of his money from the financial industry, while chairing the Senate Banking Committee. In fact, he’s second only to Clinton in contributions from Wall St. Seems like a good guy for the most part, but that’s a tough pill to swallow.
Good morning, pups. It’s Cohen, Kristof and Krugman in the NYT today, each with something worth saying.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
Coffee and tea are all ready, and there’s a selection of bagels with lots of cream cheese. Some of that cheese has herbs out of the garden mixed in. 567 days to go.
Good morning!
bonkers @ 62
I do not know if I find it encouraging. In fact, I find Michelle Obama’s behaviour somewhat cynical, just as I find Obama’s pandering to an audience about Wal-Mart while enjoying the benefits of his wife’s association with that company the height of cynicism. And the timing of her resignation is really telling.
I just hope Michelle Obama’s close ties to Wal-Mart become a central topic in the upcoming months of the primary. Perhaps she and Obama should come clean in order to avoid any ambiguity. I also wonder about this affiliation, as Obama endorsed Daley for Mayor of chicago just as Daley vetoed the Big Box Ordinance, which would have forced Wal-Mart to pay a living wage if they were to build stores in Chicago. This may reveal a real conflict of interest on Michelle Obama’s part.
Looks like Vlad is getting a wave hello from parts of Bush he didn’t expect
Good morning everyone.
No MSM outlet has yet reviewed Greenwald’s book. It’s now down to #20 on Amazon.
It’s a great book-buy it if you haven’t already.
Somewhat offtopic: GW’s big 26% is really hitting the phones on Washington Journal this morning.

Yo from Athens, FINALLY some rain!
Yay rain!!
Has anyone read the WP article on Bush. Why is this child president?
Good morning! the east coast is here!
JPL – is it on WaPo online? i’ll go look and be right back with an answer!
Kathryn, am I remembering correctly that it was you doing battle with a credit card company; how is that going?

Scarecrow’s got the good stuff for us upstairs.
New thread: Predictable Joe
Thank you, egregious – armed with the address of my attorney general and all the website info given to me by our esteemed pups, the vendor has quit the payments – i thought i’d try for some refunds. we’ll see how that goes. now, to pay down the credit card co. Thank you for thinking of me. Feels nice.
egregious – thank you for your kind thoughts! vendor has stopped monthly payments. am trying for some refunds, we’ll see how that goes. Now, to repair the damage.
Kathryn—
WOOHOO!! You go girl!
I had read the WaPost before I went to bed last night, and kept thinking about the soldier with an eye injury. Was that sick story supposed to make us like Bush? Or be impressed with his empathy? Just a rant to inform his “people”..he should have learned from his insult to the reporter with sunglasses. Eye loss or eye injury does not call for close scrutiny by some dunce stranger…lurking with curiosity or ghoulish interest. Such injury is private. Does he think he is a dr? Or since he caused the injury, he can review it? I was sickened at the invasive, no boundary intrusion. I am sure he missed the lessons on respect for those with difference, etc. A rant? Yes, from a bit of personal history.
