Yeah, I know it’s cheesy, but I’m a sucker for Jim and Pam.
Mostly Jim, but still. . .

Hello again, Pach! Still don’t know where you were on the float.
dos?
Loo Hoo. @ 1
Heh.
I was with Jim.
Hi CTuttle. This is a secret meet-up.
Loo Hoo. @ 4
You, Me and Pach!!! ;-)
With Jim? As if that helps.
Loo Hoo. @ 6
LOL!!!
I told the folks downstairs…
(I’m wondering why I can’t read the post before this. My computer keeps telling me it can’t find the server on that one.)
Too hot to sleep, here in LA, so I’m trying to put myself to sleep with the computer.
Pach, I had lomo saltado from the Peruvian place at the farmers’ market this week. Tasty stuff, and they had a line for all their various foods. (New this week: shrimp dishes.)
This is a cool story about how Wiki works:

P J Evans @ 9
Hopefully, not Chinese farmed Shrimp!!! ;-)
CTuttle @ 5
Uh….I hate to tell ya but others are watching…
And while yer waiting for the comments to refresh check out: George W. Bush, America’s Greatest Conservative President!
Pam’s cute too, though.
CTuttle @ 11
I don’t know. I usually do chicken myself, being on the permanent more-or-less low-fat diet (not that it actually has any of the effects it’s intended to have).
Yeah, Teddy, she is.
Jim’s rebound girlfriend was hot, but she just. . . wasn’t. . . Pam.
darkblack plays second to no one..
The end of Pach’s last post:
The Constitution won’t protect itself. It never has.
So true. Each one of us is responsible for protecting one of the greatest documents ever created. The authors very clearly intended it to be that way.
That’s why one of the most crucial things any of us can do to restore the Constitution, is to get more and more people getting their information from places like FDL. Knowledge is indeed power. Someone here earlier mentioned that they could name only 3 US Supreme Court Justices until they started reading FDL. Now they know them all, how the most recent ones were confirmed, and how unAmerican they really are. That’s just a beautiful story!
Therein lies the power of this new media. It exploded onto the scene a few years ago, and the numbers grew incredibly fast. Maybe some people have numbers on this, but I sense things have levelled off somewhat for most blogs. We’ve got to keep growing the number of people getting their “news” from this new media. This is imperative.
Just like Howie Klein preaches regularly about every $5 contribution making a difference, every one or two people you can get reading FDL and others places is extremely important.
Remember, the Constitution has never protected itself. You have to protect it. Happy 4th of July!
Here’s an excellent primer on Scotus’ just concluded term! It’s pretty kewl!!!

Late Late Nite guilty pleasure confession – I thought this show would be typical American teevee warmed-over crap. Loved the BBC version.
Surprise – it’s good.
hmm sorry I missed the back story. but its just as well.
Are Jim and Pam worth the 45-60 minutes wait on dialup to get the full few minutes?
That said, I think Pam is trouble, actually. Not stable enough, and Jim needs to find himself somebody who doesn’t make him crawl through cut glass.
Oh, I know, I know, she’s finding her own voice these days or something, going for what she wants, but how long will that last?
Another season, maybe.
Okay, who the hell is Pam?
off topic but not off tone, here’s rick miller’s the 25 most annoying voices in music singing bohemian rhapsody.
ps call me a snob but i like the ricky gervaise version better.
Pachacutec @ 15
Stunned to learn that Jim’s rebound, played by Rashida Jones, is Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones’ daughter.
And hot.
Oh, Pach, I’m a huge fan of Jim too… and I’ve barely watched the show! LOL
Cute funny from Massachusetts = ??
I give.
There is a really cool article at the NYT about how while W wants to be like Churchill, he is really like Chamberlain.
Loo Hoo. @ 27
No, he’s really like the devil incarnate.
tbsa, true.
tbsa @ 28
Cheney’s the devil incarnate. Bush is a minor incubus. (Laura’s a succubus wannabe without the necessary skills.) :)
Josh Marshall has a take on how the immigration bill will affect republicans:
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/
I like his take!
How long has this show been on? First I’ve heard of it, at least the US version.
bonkers @ 17
Every once in a while I hear some disgruntled person or group call for a new constitutional convention. The very thought gives me the willies. It is my believe that our constitution came about because of the confluence of unique individuals and time. Given the political tides of our time, I doubt that we would end up with anything better and most likely with something a lot worse.
Eureka Springs @ 32
3 years I think. Exec Producers are the dudes from the BBC version. Sounds like a stamp of approval.
newtnusr – setting my DVR, will give it a whirl.
Eureka Springs @ 35
Think torrent.
The sad part is i’ve NEVER seen this show. I have no idea of what it is. But if it’s being produced by the guys that did the BBC version of whatever it is? Wonderful. Becuase it’s got the feel of somethign straight off their stations. Low budget and drama centered. Where you see the people and not the cardboard cutouts.
My bad mood earlier today FINALLY abated. YAY.
I thought torrent was a dance.. *g*
Eureka Springs @ 38
No, it’s a kind of skirt.
Oh, no – it means fast – “the cars on race day here at Indy are keeping a torrent pace…”
Intersting link that I just came across at Suburban Guerrilla Undoing Bush: how to repair eight years of sabotage, bungling, and neglect
The essay concerning the courts please substitute Cheney for Bush
Help me Mods, help.
aliasofwestgate @ 37
Glad about the mood.
Actually the show is a comedy, screamingly funny at times. The montage is misleading in that way, but that drama thread runs thru it.
And strangely, there are cardboard cutouts.
Helpless Dancer @ 41
Done! Refresh and it appears.
I’ll try again. From Suburban Guerrilla:http://www.harpers.org/archive/2007/06/0081545
In the essay, The Courts, just substitute Cheney for Bush.
OT
ACLU settles suit over book-signing incident
I just love this story.
This is just too good.John Dean Vs. Cheney et al.
Margot @ 45
maybe this crap is starting to wake some people up.
OT – Dirty Harry remains secluded in his Del Monte Forest compound inside the 24/7 guarded gates to Pebble Beach. His local political water carrier, Monterey County Supervisor, Dave Potter (in a recent closed meeting of the Board of Supervisors) allegedly pleaded with his fellows and won approval for the County to reapply the recently defeated PBC application that would doom the last great standing old growth Monterey Pine forest on the entire west coast, perhaps in the world.
Rumors abound that Clint is going to keep a low profile and let one of his fearless corporate partners, Dick Ferris, former president of United Airlines, try his luck. He was the only owner/partner at the CCC public hearing in Santa Rosa when the plan was voted down 8 to 4, followed by a final unanimous no vote.
Somebody ought to tell Dirty Harry that it is over and past time for Clint, Peter Uberroth, Arnold Palmer, Dick Ferris and the other partners to move on. They remind me of the Bush/Cheney crowd who obviously believe they are entitled to as many Mulligans as they wish.
Looks like We the people of the great golden State of California better keep a close eye on Clint’s dear friend the Governator and make sure he doesn’t make any more peculiar and hasty appointments to the once August and impeccable California State Coastal Commission.
newspaperbrat @ 48
Ahnold is becoming careless again. He cultivates a conservationist image to help remove the stink of his ballot measures getting crushed and to get reelected, and throws it away (although he’s termed out). We turned him out the last time, and we’ll do it again.
Loo Hoo. @ 10
A great article. Thanks!
FWIW, the development of the Oxford English Dictionary was a volunteer project that started in 1858 and was first published seventy years later in 1928. But still the Reganoids are so wedded to the notion that only the pursuit of private greed can efficiently deliver the common good that they refuse to believe that the Wikipedia (or the Linux project) can possibly deliver any real value for free. They are obsessed with the unseen hand of the free market.
Loo Hoo. @ 10
Wow, that was great.
Off to bed now, all, see you tomorrow sometime!
Sleep well TeddySF ;~)
nite teddy. Had a ball.
Helpless Dancer @ 46
Thanks for sharing that excellent article.
Totally OT, but we just got back from the Hollywood Bowl: Sound of Music sing-along! What a hoot!
Good morning, pups. The NYT today has MoDo, Thomas Friedman and Frank Rich. MoDo says W is weeping in his pillow, pining for Albania where they understand how to treat him. Thomas Friedman says we’re dog paddling in the Tigris and it’s time to honestly discuss how to get out of the water. Frank Rich’s column is titled “If the Vice President Does It, That Means It’s Not Illegal.” He’s, well I was going to use the past participle of micturate but it would probably be caught in the filters…

The coffee and tea are all ready, and I splurged on some chocolate croissants. (I also got some plain ones in case anyone other than my boss is allergic to chocolate…) 568 days until the village in Texas gets its idiot back.
Marion in Savannah @ 56
You have to work on Sunday?
Good morning to the Peach State pups.
Marion in Savannah @ 56 –
thank you! rich is really, really good today. i skipped modo and mr. F.U.
Good morning. Anyone around?
Good morning pups!
egregious @ 61
And how are you?
I can only answer one question before coffee, that was it :)
You’re up early, eh? Working today?
Hi TexB
Hi egregious
Hi selise
Beautiful morning in the northeast. I’m looking at a female hummingbird perching on the wrought iron.
Boston1775 @ 65
Beautiful.
I’m hoping to get back to sleep at some point. Playing with facebook in the meantime & adding people to my IM lists.
Hi Marion, thanks for the hidden stuff from NY
Pain?
Boston1775 @ 68
tummy troubles. starting to settle.
Good morning, Boston, hope it’s ok if I call you that for short?
Yes TexB, working today and every day. Lives and countries to save.
Tex, I don’t often get to talk with you because we’re on different clocks, but I feel happy to know you through reading you each morning. Both of us work with kids and tutor; I always especially appreciate your insights on kids.
eg, yes Boston is fine, how’s eg?
How are you doing since the near break in? How are your kids?
Mornin’ all!
Boston1775 @ 71
Thank you! (Have you joined Facebook?)
twolf1 @ 73
Good morning. How are you?
I’m dragging my feet on the facebook thing. I went to a conference on internet and kids and was warned heavily to stay away. Rayne has done a good job of countering it, but I’m still wary. (I’m really thinking about it, though.)
Boston, the police are making progress and I am trying to figure out what changes need to be made, for example is it necessary to keep the house totally locked up during daylight hours. Not our usual custom.
Hi twolf
Boston1775 @ 76
I enjoy it a lot. The 15 yr old in my house has two accts, one for school friends and friends from her formal school, and the other for FDL & her blogs. My 13 yr old son has MySpace, which I regularly monitor.
Raven, if you’re still here — I’ve got a private client I transcribe for in my “free time” (hah!) That’s in between trying to keep the critters in the garden at bay and serving as staff to 2 cats! I shouldn’t complain though — the client talks enough to pay the mortgage every month.
egregious @ 77
I understand that one. I’m glad the police are on it. I used to run a neighborhood watch in a much tougher place than I was accustomed to. What I learned was to always push back, always make it more difficult for “them” to be in my area.
Hi TexB, hi Boston! Doing OK here, just trying to wake up a little.
twolf1 @ 82
Just added you as a facebook friend.
Think I am going to try to get some more sleep. Have a good morning y’all.
Sweet dreams, TexB
Hold out your cup, twolf – there you go..
Talking Head thread upstairs…
