Hi Rayne, I was downstairs in the facebook page so thought I’d come up and look for you… BTW – we’ve been busy here. Peanut #2 was born and is now 2 months old. So we’ve been… occupied. So I’ve downgraded to lurker for awhile. Thanks for the shout out, and I’m around and usually behind a few posts. :-)

CatelynK — I’ve run into that, too, where folks that I know by their FDL nom de plume ping me and ask to be my friend but I can’t recognize them by their “real” name. Don’t be afraid to ask; just go ahead and ask them what their FDL log in name is since you aren’t familiar with their real name.

There are a few folks who’ve posted their FDL log in name on their Facebook profile, and others who actually use a variant of their real name as their log in. But I can see where you’d be confused — especially if you end up with two guys with the same first name asking you to be their friend at the same time (been there, done that!).

I joined FB because we were invited to do that, and spent too much time just getting set up. Technically clueless here. And too busy elsewhere to participate in any significant way.

But my biggest problem is–What is this “friend” thing? I got an email from an entirely strange name inviting me to be a friend. But I have to formally accept, and I’m wary of signing onto anything.

Is there a code we can use to identify FDLer invitations? I don’t want to reject any Firepup, but neither do I want to tell non-FDLers that I’ll be their friend.

It’s just like MySpace but much less robust. FaceBook has been around for awhile but only available to schools or school affiliated groups. They recently opened it up to anyone.

Unlike MySpace, you have to join FaceBook to view anyone or any group. We’re more familiar with MySpace because of the music site and all the “promotion” done on there.

For me, its just one more thing I don’t have time to fancy up or visit all that often. Oh well.

Only one thought-musicians, especially regional and indie musicians, are all OVER myspace . . . . I’ve never even HEARD of some of the programs you posted about!!! I’m SO not geeky attractive . . . but my honey don’t care! *G* And what SHE thinks is really all I care about, anymore . . . ;-)

My daughter does not want me on FB because it is for highschool and college kids only.

I reminded her it was our generation that invented these Computer gizmos.

I have one FB for my friends at school and another one for my online friends. My aunt can’t see my school friend one.
