Late Nite threads, however, encourage off topic discussions (but of course, we do like comments about the posts too).

when making an off topic comment on a daytime thread, for example, i try to check the comment thread to see if (1) anyone else has already broken the news; and (2) where the current discussion of the thread is relative to being on topic.
Of course, breaking news of oh, say, Rove being perp walked, would of course, be the exception that kinda proves the rule.
The threads are actually scheduled by time and not comment number. Late Nite we keep an eye on the numbers because it will be several hours before Day Shift posts a new thread.

So far yes, but 3 more days to go. Nephew in Nat’l Guard is up by the Oklahoma border coordinating trucks for rescue efforts and whatever else they’re doing up there. Son is still at summer camp. Hoping he got a top bunk this year. :) Snarky and I are safe and dry.
In my mind, Edwards is the only Dem who truly represents a threat to the system.
I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying about my father, there, but he is a great man who has never been anything other than an ethical, great-hearted, and brave gentleman every day of his life. Our country would be lucky to have a man like my father for a President.

Don’t bother about the book. It’s about the Duke-UNC rivalry written from the perspective of a Carolina guy. It’s a bit of a screed and I couldn’t finish it.
I grew up in rural NC and the Carolina fans there are much more rabid (and some might say irrational) than the Duke fans.
Not saying that about JRE though. His UG is from NCSU — but he’s a big UNC basketball fan. However, EE is the truly hard core Heel.
As you would expect, she is classy in her fervor.
I think of all the people who are afraid of Edwards, and-hey!-it’s all the people who should be afraid of somebody:
Big Healthcare. Big Pharma. Big Insurance. Big Oil. Big Defense.
Anyone pissing off all of those people has something going for them.
