I have some doubts that Petraeus will open up a bushCo koolaid stand in September, at the expense of the U.S. military. I hope he’s decent enough to refuse to pimp the war for bush and the borgs.

It’s fucking rediculous to think that any “gains” from the splurge will be sustainable by the Iraqi “army”. The only way this little tamping-down can be made to last until the elections is if our troops are made to do it. And just like in Anbar province, the tamping will come at a cost.

It looks like Gordon Brown is reneging on Blair’s promise to start drawing down by 1600 troops, this spring and summer, but he HAS to do this, in the near future. The Labour party is looking at their part in the debacle, and thinking the same “We are brontosaurs looking up at the meteor-and-we are fucked!” thoughts as the GOP is, here.

You’re right, of course. She’s just so purely evil that I have a hard time believing she exists without a remote-control device and an antenna. Surely after today, the Edwards family feels the support of sane Americans.

He’s paid his dues, he won’t really change policy, and this is the best shot the GOP has of staying in power in 08.
