About the Cheney piece(s) —-

This is real nice; WaPo Page A1 June, 2007.

Would have been better; WaPo Page A1 June, 2003.

I agree with the “This is not news“. Its real nice salve but not news.

And ask yourself this: Why is the WaPo putting this front and center now? That’s the story….. why are they so willing to appear to “report news” now? Is it now peachy-keen with rover and bush and cheney? Given the trend of the WaPo front page for these years, it basically would have to have been ok’d by them, doncha think?

Real news = “VP Dick Cheney Arrested; Country Celebrates” WaPo Page A1 June 27, 2007.

The WaPo should be reporting the criminal grounds for Cheney’s arrest, a bulleted list, and reporting the lack of charges being filed in Federal court on this day! Now, that’s news!!!

It strikes me that Cheney might be doing to Bush what the Facists in our government have been doing all along - blackmail.

Cheney, I’m sure, has something that will keep Bush under his thumb. It must be pretty bad.

Lets see:

The Missing Years
Coke
Bimbos
Texas Air National Guard
Peculiarities of businesses and business dealing
Bin Laden family ties
Shot a guy in Reno just to see him die
Abuse and pedophilia in Texas reformatories
Executions in Texas
Activities supporting HWB while president
Laura’s dealin’ days
The Twins’ adventures
Trading Sammy Sosa

The list goes on….

Frankly, this administration has more of the Bush MO than that of Cheney. I don’t believe Cheney has been ghost-running the administration (at least not to a significant extent). If he had been it would show more of his fingerprints.

The WaPo story is not new news. It’s been obvious to at least 28% of the American public since the beginning. The Reprehensibilican machine picked a lazy, stupid, drunken puppet for Dead Eye Dick to manipulate and pretend to be The Decider. Why is it taking so long and so many deaths for the press to finally wake up. The Fourth Estate is still untrustworthy and missing in action. The best example is ‘Wittle Chwissy Matthews’ giving Coultergeist a full hour. I did not watch this debacle and haven’t been able to stomach his show since he spent a week wondering if Bill and Hillary were still “doing it”. What a waste of valuable air time.

The Patriot Act has a provision in it that takes this idea a step further. Any person who protests U.S. government policy can also be labeled an enemy combatant. Why would that language be put in if there was no intention of using it?

“Why would that language be put in if there was no intention of using it?”

That is exactly the justification Sampson used when they discussed using the P.A. to replace the USAs - and they did.

Chekov’s Dictum: A gun introduced in the first act must be used in the third act. Of course they want to use it. But they never consider that it could be used against themselves.

They will reap what they sow. RICO looks like it was made for this, far more than it was intended for Tony Soprano. They better be building a lot more golf courses at Club Fed!

Excuuuuuuuuuuuuse me! Are we better than all snark or just digby’s reference to W’s stupid dance? Please don’t call me out as silly. Thank you.

I’ll say it again, risking another superior “whatever” from whomever: this administration is the worst in history and I’ll mock them as much as I want. Even Marie Antoinette knew that ridicule can kill.

If readers don’t want snark, what are they doing here? Whatever.

The whole thing is pretty sinister when you think about the fact that Cheney chose himself for VP. Its bad enough Bush was appointed by the Supremes. But in the end the net effect is that Cheney selected himself president. That’s scary.

Don’t count on it. Only about 5% of Congress cares, not enough to forge anything meaningful and the public is oblivious.

They are really sucking up to their patron with all this public talk of W “deciding.” He must like reading that about himself in his daily news summaries, or having them read to him I suppose.

Let’s face it. Cheney is Edgar Bergen and Bush is Charley McCarthy.

Like US attorneys, the VP of today serves at the pleasure of the president. Any impeachable offenses that Cheney has committed would have to be other than his merely usurping the office with Bush’s consent.

Big difference: the VP is an elected officer, not an appointed officer. Bush didn’t make Cheney VP, the voters did (however illegally it may have been done).

Agree 100%.
