I always like to point out what a union really is, and when we frame it the way it really is we gain more support

corporations have to bargain for everything they buy, they don’t set the price the people they purchase from sets the price

a union is a collective bargaining body, corporations don’t want to bargain for the labor they have to purchase, they want to set the price they pay and bargain individually with individuals

tough luck, like all the products they need to survive, they have to bargain for the labor they have to purchase, they don’t get to set the price they pay

I understand this concern, and I’m not counseling precipitous action. Still, I’m concerned that what this means is that we won’t be living in a functioning democracy much longer. If Cheney and Bush can’t be impeached for what are clear violations of federal laws designed to limit their powers, there is no reason I can think of to think that the next group of leaders will be any better.

After Bush, there may no longer be much of a Republican party left. He drove off the sane ones with Iraq and trashing the Constitution, and now he’s pissed off his bigoted base with the immigration bill.

It’s taken a while, but it looks like they may have finally destroyed themselves. 2008 will tell the tale.
