This just warmed the cockles of my black, evil heart.
First, Mr. TRex?
Loo Hoo. @ 1
Took you long enough. Now run tell the others.
Should not have watched first.
That looks like a younger version of my cat, Bailey.
Told them, but Suzanne beat me.
lol, funny
Hi Trex, Pups. Just a drive by when I should be working.
Planning an FDL meetup with Persiflage next week If there are other Aussie (or ex-pats) interested in meet ups let me know. I travel quite a bit and am likely to turn up in or near most of the Aussie capitol cities at one time or another.
Cute. Any heart that could be warmed by that cannot, by definition, be black and evil. Of course, just by having a heart you are ahead of anyone in the Bush administration.
I used to have a cat like that named Max. When I moved, he split for about six months. We couldn’t believe it when he reappeared, but sadly he left again within a few days.
actually makes me kinda sleepy.
Fastest Mod in the West, LooHoo :)
Suzanne @ 11
I guess it’s all that diving. Keeps you alert and quick!
Now I must eat and get ready for bed. I’ll check back in after a bit.
That’s like waking pretty much any of the HUMANS in my house. Thanks TRex.
BTW TRex, did you see Cassie’s post? I think she went to bed before you could thwack her with your tail.
I have 20 carpet samples here. Which one should I pick? I am definitly NOT the decider.
TRex: Thanks for kitty wanting to snooze.
Going to bed. Thanks all you firepups for a great evening!
CSPAN is full of re-runs of oversight hearings right now, on both channels 1 & 2
Bob in HI
ReneND @ 15
have a link to pix?
G’nite all !!!
The sooner I get done this book, the sooner I meet Loo Hoo & Balrog for Sushi !!! *g*
gonna go check in on SC @ the CR!
Night Atikar.
Thanks Bob.
Good night Atikar.
Night. Sleep like a kitten, fight like a dog.
-GSD
P.S.
Rob Portman is leaving Corruptions’ Ground Zero of the Bush Whitehouse. Says there is little purpose and that lots more folks are leaving.
Bush is toxic.
Night Petro.
That was so cute, TRex. Thank you for the smiles.
*waving to all the firepups headed off to bed*
Nite nite to all leaving for bed from the spook. have been putting dad to bed. he fell yesterday and that always makes the next day harder. it was only a little fall, but still. I always think I have all the dangers taken care of, but somehow one always manages to slip through.
TexB @ 18
Nope. Just spread around the floor. I like the cream, He likes the brown. (Duh)
ReneND @ 28
do you have kids?
GSD @ 23
Thank you for the link.
put the ones you positively cant stand in one pile to eliminate them, rene. add those the hubby can’t stand.
that will help reduce the visual clutter of having them all spread out at once.
Alfred Kelgarries @ 29
Grown up. But then there is us…
Here’s Waxman’s letter to Cheney in case you haven’t had the pleasure…
http://www.speaker.gov/blog/?p=507
TexB,
The Financial Times is a great news resource.
-GSD
hey, y’all…
here’s the big news.
TRex’s brother is going to be drumming for the Psychedelic Furs on their upcoming US tour.
Who is gonna come hang out?
LooHoo, I just love reading Nancy’s Blog. I wasn’t checking it as much as I should when she first did it – it really is a good place to get info. I was surprised, pleasantly I must add.
patrick @ 35
Are you coming to New England?
-GSD
Loo Hoo. @ 33
Yes. I saw that earlier today. A very dignified and restrained bitch slapping, I must say. Waxman seems to have a way with understated snark, doesn’t he?
PaTrex, when you gonna put out the tour schedule? You coming to Santa Cruz, CA?
Petrocelli @ 19
What happened to a visit here to the Aina? Hmmm… Nite, Petro!
Listening to CSpan.
McNulty is SUCH a tool!
patrick @ 35
Not me, unless you plan on stopping in the wilds of western Montana.
ReneND @ 32
my wife’s rule was: if you have carpet and kids, get the mid range colors (not pastel, but not strong either) because it shows the least dirt. If no kids, go with what makes you feel good. You’ll be looking at it a long time and you can clean dirty spots without having them kidaported back within the hour.
Well, I think I will join the general exodus. Bed and kitties is sounding increasingly attractive. Take care and enjoy the snark.
Hmm. That looks like morning in my place, except that I’m the one going “meow” (trans.: Oh, gawd, let me sleep some more) and my dog is the one demanding action. A large icy cold nose poked into your armpit does get your attention.
OTH, she’s the cutest creature in the world, one that will cause 300-pound leather bikers to blurt out, “Oh, what a pretty dog!!”
So she thinks she can get away with anything. She can, but only almost.
patrick @ 35
Congrats!
Which also reminds me, being Midsummer Night, additional congrats one the play.
DrDick @ 44
sleep well dr (pause) dick.

TexB @ 14
I am again impressed with Cassie’s website! I wandered over to the corner devoted to impeachment, and left a comment. But why would TRex want to thwack her with his tail?
Bob in HI
Petrocelli @ 19
Night Pet and Atikar. (and others I may have missed reading WAXMAN!)
Suzanne @ 48
I don’t know. I tried to find out, but today has been kind of crazy getting ready to be gone for four weeks.
Bob Schacht @ 51
She was hesitant to disagree with his interpretation of whether the Gitmo news was good news or bad.
ReneND @ 15
This is easy. Pick hardwood floors. ;-)
patrick @ 35
Where will you be, Patrick? Do you have a schedule? Big congrats!
DrDick @ 38
Ooh, I just missed you! Nite, DD!
Waxman is my Hero! Here’s a snippet of the letter:
“I question both the legality and the wisdom of your actions. In May 2006, an official in your office pled guilty to passing classified information to individuals in the Philippines. In March 2007, your former chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, was convicted of perjury, obstruction of justice, and false statements for denying his role in disclosing the identity of a covert CIA agent. In July 2003, you reportedly instructed Mr. Libby to disclose information from a National Intelligence Estimate to Judith Miller, a former New York Times reporter. This record does not inspire confidence in how your office handles the nation’s most sensitive security information. Indeed, it would appear particularly irresponsible to give an office with your history of security breaches an exemption from the safeguards that apply to all other executive branch officials.”
Pure gold, if you ask me!!! ;-)
patrick @ 49
So who am I visiting so I can go hear Patrick?
Tex, remind Cassie that honest disagreement is one of the fundamental rights that we’re all trying to preserve in the current political climate. He won’t thwack her unless she calls him a grumpy prick.
I Question Both The Wisdom And The Legality Of Your Actions.
has a lovely sort of cadence to it, no?
burnspbesq @ 55
Do you know how many different kinds of wood, not to mention stains, there are? Took me forever to finally come up with a light to medium cherry.
Alfred Kelgarries @ 60
Amen, Brother, Amen!!!
Shadowstalker @ 59
Ad Therapodinem. Not allowed. Speak to the message, not the messenger. Thwack!
Another bit of refreshing sunlight from of all places, the CIA.
-GSD
TexB @ 58
Buffalo is closest to me but I doubt I’ll be able to make the venue.
congrats on the gig, Patrick
may the ghost in you revel in phan-dom
Rene,
There is a really sublime paint put out by Frazee called Clay Beige. It doesn’t look like much on a small strip, but there is a beautiful quality to it. It matches any color you use (and I like all different colors in my decorating.) I was able to find carpet just a tad darker, and it works really well!
Good luck, and spend a bit more for clean-up purposes and wear if you can. Wish I had.
burnspbesq @ 55
“Dare to Keep Kids Off d’Rugs”
(hardwood floor association motto)
GSD @ 64
don’t you believe it. This is the sanitized version. trust me. they did stuff back then that can NEVER become public knowledge until the US is a different country.
Pun’s in da house!
Alfred Kelgarries @ 60
Absolutely. The whole letter is a thing of beauty. I wonder if he writes them himself or if he has a particularly gifted staffer?
Suzanne @ 61
What about a natural stone? Or a modern earthern (mud? floor? Don’t laugh until you click.
Loo Hoo. @ 67
then it shares qualities with Benjamin Moore’s White Dove.
Loo Hoo. @ 71
I suspect it’s him. Matches his speaking style, IIRC.
hey Suzanne, how was your dive tonight?
TexB @ 72
:)
Loo Hoo. @ 67
Oh good. Paint is next on the list. The thing with hardwood is that I would want something different than what the baseboards are now. Another big project!!
Never heard of Frazee. Is that a paint company?
GSD @ 64
Whoa, could it be that the CIA is smacking Cheney?
GSD @ 64
That is certainly a gust of fresh air! I’m familiar with virtually all military aircraft, foreign and domestic, yet, I’ve never heard of the A-12? I’ve served in a Patriot battalion(ADA) and was thoroughly schooled in aircraft recognition, friend and foe!!! Hmmm… Skunk Works prodigy???
pun, first one i did was legs tilted a bit and there was splash… however, i nailed that sucker at the beginning of Late Nite. Not a splash and you could hear the pop as my hands broke water. Was sweet.
Pun-
Ghost in You is in the set list I just got!
I am learning the songs as fast as I can.
Y’all come, now!
Suzanne @ 70
Alack, so he is!!! ;-)
CTuttle @ 79
WhatInHell is the A-12?
Suzanne @ 80
I trust the judges rewarded dive #2 accordingly.
Alfred Kelgarries @ 69
Every little bit helps. Besides, it makes Dick Cheney look all the more vile and foolish with his latest antics.
-GSD
A-12?
You sank my battleship!
-GSD
patrick @ 81
I just couldn’t work in “Pretty in Pink” to a comment for you…
July 15 in SF, hmmmm.
GSD @ 86
LOL
That little vid is adorable TRex. ^^ My cat just glares at me like the empress she is. With maybe a grumpy rumble or two.
But oooo, Waxman’s snark is a thing of beauty. Gotta love it.
And here i am listening to the Andrews Sisters in anticipation for hte South Pacific Beefcake Auction i’m DJing tommorrow. *laugh* ‘Rum and Coca-cola’, gods they were SO cool.
GSD @ 85
actually, i’ve just started looking through it and it does seem amazingly accurate. I’m surprised they’d admit to some of this stuff, even this far removed from it. Maybe this is the real deal. All the really awful stuff I know about seems to be in here…although I don’t get the A-12 bit…
GSD @ 86
B I N G A ?
ReneND @ 77
Yes, Frazee is a paint company. Get the sample (order online) and buy the Benjamin Moore of the same color if you want the best quality. It may sound crazy, but if you get the semi-gloss it really washes up nicely. Put flat only on walls people don’t touch, and high gloss is the kitchen/bath/laundry rooms.
punaise @ 87
Thanks for that. Could have been embarassing.
Goddang, I wish they would quit with the bombing on Camp Pendleton. My windows have been rattling since 2:00.
Alfred Kelgarries @ 83
I was hoping you would know! It was mentioned in the article! Like I mentioned I’m well schooled in Aircraft Recognition, they didn’t want us to shoot at the wrong planes!!! 8-)
so…Richard Butler still got chops?
AK,
There is even the interesting morsel that Brit Hume was spied on by Tricky Dick’s goons because he worked with Jack Anderson.
That was another time for old Brit. Now Brit is probably a CIA asset.
-GSD
Ah! I have it! The A-12 was the ubersecret early version of the SR-71. I was thinking it was the rocket job they tried to develop before satellites were useful, one which could overfly the length of the su at photographic altitude and get back into nato airspace before it could be shot down. may be the same thing, but I don’t think so…
Loo Hoo-
I need you to come and stay for a week.
GSD @ 97
Jack Anderson was not viewed with favor by the power brokers of his day. Brit, OTOH, is a tool. nuff said.
Loo Hoo. @ 94
Oh, man, Loo Hoo. I lived in a cabin that was shockwave distance from the ranges at Benning. FUCK that was awful.
GSD @ 97
He’s certainly a Repug water carrier with Faux Spew!!!
patrick @ 49
Shit! Shit! Shit!
You’ll be 45 miles away in Costa Mesa, and I’ll be in freaking Wisconsin.
Damn it anyway!
Apparently the A-12 was known as the flying Dorito.
-GSD
GSD @ 97
on the penultimate syllable there is no quarrel.
patrick @ 100
Hey, I see you’ll be in San Diego on the 14th of Julio. I’ll have to get there. What do you play?
Brit, the p*nisultimate asset.
-GSD
(MOT NOTE: * edited to allow through filters)
punaise @ 96
Apparently. I am listening to some recent live recordings to learn my parts, and they sound almost exactly like the old albums.
Pretty impressive, really.
Here’s the wiki link. Its code name was OXCART.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-12_OXCART
Alfred Kelgarries @ 98
Actually, I think you’re right, that is a Skunk Work designator, and they developed the SR-71, I believe it was the original designation!!!
patrick @ 100
I live near a BUFF field in SA. watching those babies materialize out of the clouds on a dark night is quite the sight. Sounds not as bad as I feared they would be.
Rene, does ND mean North Dakota? Grandpa and Mary used to live in Minot.
patrick @ 108
cool.
so, without compromising any trade secrets, are you at liberty to tell us how you landed this gig?
SteveAudio @ 103
WHAT?
I didn’t know californians left california. Damn it all to hell.
I guess if you’re gonna go to the tundra, July is the time.
Oh, well.
Loo- I play drums!
CTuttle @ 109
yeah! go to the wiki link in my later post. incredible stuff there.
I like the flying Dorito. Flydo.
Good night dear friends. Can someone hand me a towel?
is poor judgment John Edwards’ achilles heal?
punaise @ 112
Hugo Burnham was supposed to play these dates- he’s the drummer from Gang Of Four and an old, dear friend. He’s had an illness in the family, and I don’t want to be too more specific than that without his permission.
He called me yesterday and asked if I was available for this tour.
I had to have a sitdown with my boss, but he’s a music fan… so…
That’s right. How are the blisters?
TexB @ 116
here. warm from the IR lamp. sleep well.
Here you go TexB. Night!
http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=3731711
I am dripping all over the dock y’all! And somebody hid my canes?? Or stole them? Y’ALLL!!!!!
GSD @ 104
Interesting, thats why I never heard of it or seen it!!!
Loo Hoo. @ 119
Healing very slowly. I have a couple of days before I have to be ready to sit down behind the kit for ten hours a day to learn all these songs.
This will be the best paying and most high profile gig of my career so far. I am going a bit crazy.
I should have been asleep hours ago.
pun, down around the watertiger thread (i think) that edwards story was debunked nicely. iirc, the purpose of the non-profit was to pay for those travel items and it was all above board and legally done.
patrick @ 119
bittersweet, then. still, it’s a great opportunity.
(handing Tex a bath sheet sized towel) and looking around for her canes. Here they are, by the hottub.
Loo Hoo. @ 112
Yes, Fargo. Prairie Sunshines from here also, plus some lurkers. Minot is way north.
punaise @ 117
we went over this downstairs. It looks bad, but when you check out the underlying facts, nobody was getting ripped off here. Since he was no longer in the Senate and no running for anything, Edwards couldn’t accept campaign cash. He has wealthy friends who want him to do his antipoverty work, and this allowed them to fund his expenses doing just that. they got a tax break, all totally legal, and he got to fly around doing his anitpoverty work without dipping into his own funds. (He aint a billionaire, and money for that kind of travel is very free flowing.) If this had been a rethug it would no story.
Suzanne @ 127
Thank you dear friend!
Suzanne @ 126
thanks. I’m shocked that the MSM got it wrong.
punaise @ 131
but but but IT WAS THE NEW YORK TIMES! Can they be wrong? Oh, the HUMANITY…not.
punaise @ 126
No, no! I’m GOING BACK!
I just had to make sure I didn’t get fired for taking a tour!
LOL…
TexB @ 130
I gave you a towel, and I don’t see why you need canes. you seem perfectly healthy to me (creaks away in wheelchair)…
i’m fairly certain that lil debbie will be sure the waapoo spreads the non-story around.
Alfred Kelgarries @ 130
agreed, then. but if this enters the public consciousness (like the $400 haircut and the blogger dust-up) it just builds on the perception that something’s off-kilter.
for the record, I’ve got no axe to grind re Edwards.
Betsy, did you grab one of my towels?
patrick @ 134
hah – I was referring to your pal’s reason for bowing out.
Rene, are you going to YK2?
Suzanne @ 135
The problem with that is, now the blogosphere can go after all the fund raising arrangements of people like…newt gingrich? Bill Frist? no thirty as the newspaper people used to say…(means more to come, from telegraph transmissions, the code 30 indicates the transmission was done IIRC and so No Thirty means “no done yet”…)
Suzanne @ 128
Suzanne quells the cane mutiny.
patrick @ 124
heh, cool!
Suzanne @ 136
I thought that lil debbies were a small pocket pack of 6 sandwich crackers. I sometimes used them for a meal on the run when I didn’t have time for a proper meal!
Bob in HI
punaise @ 136
I fell for it at first blush for exactly those reasons. One of the firepups bitchslapped me until I went and read the whole thing. Most NYT readers won’t have that sort of intellectual lifeguard available, unfortunately…
punaise @ 138
Gosh, don’t I look like a selfish twit?
It’s been on my mind, that I am standing on the shoulders of his suffering.
He called me tonight and gave me a hell of a pep talk though.
He wants this to go well for everyone.
Loo Hoo. @ 140
Doubtful. I should have gone last year. I’m trying to rehab a knee that wants a replacement. The chicken in me wants to wait a year for surgery.
patrick @ 124
Wow, PRex! Many congrats! I know you’ll do great. I’ll have to see if I can get to Costa Mesa.
OK
I gotta get some sleep or I am gonna be worthless tomorrow.
Y’all take care. Come see us play!
Bob Schacht @ 143
We started this, believe it or not:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t…..LrGxNBrGzQ
Wazzup, pups? Just finished phase one cleanup after building my new float for cruising around the lake. Beautiful weather for most of the past week, with gigantic cumulo-nimbus structures appearing late every afternoon. The kids are getting ready for marathon-running, kayaking, fishing and bluegrass music over the weekend. I’ll be tuning an outboard motor and writing music. Yeah, the motor’s gonna be tuned to the key of F for fishing…
patrick @ 148
even if we don’t we’ll be with you in the spirit of radio (and the lake)
The Mezzanine in SF is quite close to me…south of Market?
ET, did the clouds hold out for solstice picture taking?
patrick @ 146
well, you just go out there and win one for the Gipper, then.
Ed*ard Teller @ 150
been a hectic evening. My firm lost three of our people in gaza to hamas violence, please read previous threads for ugly details. I’m so peaced out right now I can’t think of it. NYT is framing Edwards on a non-profit he’s used and TRex’s brother is doing a major tour as a last minute replacement.
Ed*ard Teller @ 150
Nice!
Suzanne @ 136
No doubt, Suzanne!
Suzanne @ 154
They’ve been dissapating about now most evenings, and the end of the longest day is still a couple hours off, my dear. Camera is ready. I got a picture at 1:00 AM last night of a 35,000 foot tall cumulo-nimbus that was still reflecting sunlight two hours after the sun had gone down here.
Ed*ard Teller @ 150
followed by the key of G for Gutting and the key of C for Cleaning?
dang, that sound beautiful, et. can’t wait to see the pics of tonight
Ed*ard Teller @ 158
I collect pics like that! Linky?
Alfred Kelgarries @ 150
Gross!
Bob in HI
Alfred,
That is awful! By lost do you mean killed, or what? Sorry, I’ve been out every minute between when McNulty made me start retching and fifteen minutes ago.
ET – thanks for the new word today!
It’s clear as a bell here tonight…perfect for star gazing on the top of the hill….am going up
Alfred Kelgarries @ 160
the sequence is C for catching, B for bleeding and icing, G and C polytonally for your choices, D for driving home. The rest – S for smoking and V for vacuum sealing don’t fit conventional tonality, but F for freezing, does.
Ed*ard Teller @ 163
yeah. executed for not being able to pay a ransom which we would have happily paid but the idiots shot up the computers that were their only link to us (we do cybercrime and other dirty IT stuff for interpol and various intelligence agencies on a contract basis when there needs to be plausible deniability. We are legally covered, of course, but through several cutouts so that any actual major player can say, “we never do that!”.) Bad news for the hamas guys, though, is that they have earned the enmity of the turkish upper class with this little stunt. I am mollified by this, somewhat. Had to just lay in the lake and try to calm down, and finally did.
enjoy the stars, spidey – clear as a bell here too
spiderpaws @ 165
did you ever hear back on that christie thingie?
Ed*ard Teller @ 166
I surrender; I am clearly out of my league here. :>
Bummer on the knee, Renee, Suz can commiserate with you.
I don’t think I can be gone longer than Chicago this summer cuz of the pup. I do want to get to Fargo one day though! And Minnesota to see Mr. and Mrs. Balrog. (and the wee one!)
punaise @ 165
I’d been waiting for a while to use paronomasia, but as far as I know, paronomasiac is a new term, created for you, ’cause your uncanny word sense is in its own sphere.
AK: not yet, but my Chronicle horrorscope today said my “financial picture would be remarkably transformed due to a sale or investment”
You’ll be the first to know.
Loo Hoo. @ 172
Well, I’m in minneapolis alot. Daughter lives there. So if you ever get that group together, let me know.
Hey, AK, check out this link to Balkinization, in re; Military Contractors and SoFA arrangements! Well worth the read!!!
http://balkin.blogspot.com/200…..itary.html
Where do you live, Spidy?
What kind of fish ET? Smoked fish is so yummy! My ex used to get albacore tuna and we’d BBQ it with butter, garlic and lemon. Then make garlic bread and spread blue cheese on it.
At least there are some good memories!
AK I think that was some variant of fishing talk.
spiderpaws @ 173
thanks. The guy who runs our little datacenter here in SA had some ivory plaques with the kama sutra colored on them, given to his dad in Viet Nam by the owner whose life he saved. I had the guy run them past C’s, and they turned out to be worth about 7 grand valuation. He ended up renting them to a museum for about 500$ a year, not huge money but it adds up. will look forward to hearing from you. And if they pass on it, I may want to take a look, because a number of my wife’s friends are christie collectors and I think they might be interested.
Good idea, Rene!
CTuttle @ 175
wow. thanks. I love balkin, when I can understand him…
…two fat rats up here so far…and the big planet slightly south must be Mercury? Right? or is it Jupiter?
mr paws will be happy to know the wireless is working again after the rats chewed it in the attic
LooHoo, I believe Spidey is in northern ca.
ReneND, got my fake knee in June 03. Surgery was ok – rehabilitation was a forking pain but… it was worth it and I don’t fall down because my knee no longer gives out. It is not longer a cute knee :( TKR was my 8th surgery on it.
Suzanne @ 177
Ah. don’t fish, can’t bring myself to kill anything. heck, I put out spiders. I DO, however, kill snakes, mosquitoes, and cockroaches. Particularly the little ones that glow in the dark with elephant logos on their backs.
Loo Hoo. @ 177
I catch a lot of Sockeye salmon – 30 or so -in the Copper River, and a couple of halibut in Cook Inlet every summer, and a few other salmon if I’m lucky at other places. My son caught a 45-pound halibut two weeks ago, and he’s going to go fishing for Sockeye in the Kenai River this weekend. Some summers, we catch over 100 salmon. I have a smokehouse which can handle up to 36 fillets at a time. We freeze the rest as plain fillets. We eat or give away every single bit.
spidey, perhaps Jupiter (looking at my sky map)
So, spiderpaws
Does mercury retrograde thingy apply to everyone? My upstairs computer just got some funky wavy lines through the screen. I seem to remember you writing about that before.
Suzanne @ 185
remember, shuttle is up there….
…a deer with a big rack….two does, a faun, heavy breathing from the buck
spiderpaws @ 188
ooo! x-rated latelatenight FDL nature liveblogging!
Alfred Kelgarries @ 181
I enjoy it a lot, course, I’m a Paralegal, and can read it without my eyes glazing over! However, it wasn’t a legal brief and was straight forward in spelling out where we went wrong with our torturous behavior in Iraq and our Military Contractors’ lack of accountability!!!
We won’t be able to see stars in the sky here until the first week of August, but Mercury and Venus will start showing up again in late July.
Alfred Kelgarries @ 189
you know, our grandchildren (Well, my great great grandchildren) will go, “Ewwww! you had to liveblog with just TEXT! Ewww!”
Suzanne @ 183
No falling YET. That will make me the decider. I’m still shopping for body parts on the internets. Lots of new knees out there, but I want the one they are inventing next year.
CTuttle @ 190
It wasn’t a legal brief? Ghod help me if i ever run into one then! The reasoning reminds me of a mathematics proof…
funky wavy lines a great song title
the shuttle can’t be that big, can it?
please no snake killing unless it’s a rattler about to strike your leg
here come the skunks…ssshhhhh
Rene, I got a japanese one because it had the most flex (at the time). My good leg flexes about 155 – 160 degrees. The best knee at the time I got mine bend to 140 – and I’ve gotten it to the full 140. I don’t like not being symmetrical in flex but that is about the only down side.
ReneND @ 193
The carnage in Iraq has done one sort of good thing (not that it makes up for all the rest!) prosthetics research, especially cyber-enhanced ones, are finally getting the money and people they need. Some amazing stuff is in the pipeline right now, and in five years The Bionic Man may be close to a reality…
CTuttle @ 191
Here’s more on torture from Mimikatz at:
http://thenexthurrah.typepad.com/the_next_hurrah/
Alfred,
Just read your explanation. That is so awful. Gazagrad, or is it Stalag Gaza, continues spinning downward into the abyss.

the shuttle is big and bright, but it moves literally as you watch. unmistakable.
I lived in denver, so we didn’t have snake problems. down here, tho, a different matter.
i want to go back to the deer!
Ed*ard Teller @ 199
yeah. maybe once we get iraq settled down we can finally do something about this mess. I’m too old to be an optimist about it tho…
…am not daring to startle these skunks
spiderpaws @ 202
the course of wisdom. is it a family or just roaming adults?
spiderpaws @ 203
tomato juice does not work on the disastrous results of startling skunks
Spidy, do you have berries? Skunk love ‘em. As long as you don’t startle them, they’ll just eat berries they can reach.
Ha. Late late nite skunk blogging.
oops. fell asleep at the keyboard. Tell the skunks hi for me. See everyone tomorrow. The Lake Rules!
The blackberry bush that is trying to take over one corner of my front yard (the bush is in my neighbors yard) has about a gazillion berries this year. The race will be on as to who gets to them first – me or the deer.
…seems to be roaming adults and…now…there is something big trying to get over the fence….everything seems so big in the dark…o my gawd, what the hell is that..rrruuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!
g’nite ak. sleep well
Ugh. Headache. Can’t get back to sleep. Waiting for IB to kick in.
ReneND — I see you’re shopping for carpet/finishes. Built a house 2 years ago, have bought a LOT of both. What kind of carpet you looking at? cut or loop?
Went with clear maple everywhere — floor in great room, foyer, along with all trim and kitchen, MBR cabinets. After living in a smallish house with darker oak trim, this is heaven.
…pant pant…s’okay, just a fat possum…whew, scared the hell out of me, sounded huge…back up to the rocking chair
Loo Hoo. @ 199
Being a true, dyed in the wool, hardcore, FDLer , I most certainly read that today! Excellent post, I’ve dealt with several Sere folks, and a few grads of the Sere course! I do not appreciate the reverse-engineering of Sere that has occurred within Shrub’s Maladministration! We were explicitly taught the Geneva Convention dictates and the humane treatment of our adversaries! WTF happened???
Suzanne @ 211
Ditto that!!!
Alfred Kelgarries @ 202
Nor am I an optimist. I haven’t been optimistic for the Palestinians since I met my first of many Palestinian friends in November, 1982, at a benefit in Seattle featuring art drawn by kids orphaned earlier that year at Sabra and Shatila in Beirut.
CTuttle @ 214
Remember Bush’s comments during his primary wherein he said he didn’t believe the U.S. should be in nation building?
He not only believes the U.S. shouldn’t, but he is incapable of doing so. He absolutely does not understand the idea of “winning hearts and minds”, whatsoever. Had not somebody else helped the sick motherf*cker with careful grooming and training in his primary bid to win the hearts and minds of Americans on the right, perhaps they would have seen it sooner.
Torture does not ever serve the purposes of people who must win over an entire population.
ReneND @ 207
Anything can happen. One weekend afternoon people were having BEAN WARS! Arguing over the best way to cook dried beans. It was a hoot!
Rayne @ 212
Hey Rayne. It would be easier to start over. 30 year old, big house. One thing always leads to another and its hard to get it to look right.
spiderpaws @ 210
A possum? Where there’s skunks, there’s possums round these parts.
Spidy are you outside?
Rayne @ 217
A rare moment of honesty for W, eh?
have a Palestinian friend who lives near here but is currently in Jerusalem to visit her mother who had a stroke…the mother is in a hospital nearby in Israel…everyday she has to pass through the gate to get to the hospital and identify herself..she says because she speaks english well she does all the talking while she walks other Arabs through and no one gets hassled…she is worried because no one seems to wash their hands at the hospital
Loo Hoo. @ 220
Oh, dear! I hadn’t thought of that. Let’s hope so.
ReneND — I thought it would be easier, too.
Was I wrong. First house I’ve ever built; we were the general contractor. Hubby is a structural engineer by education, I’m a former project manager and could be on site every day.
If I hadn’t been here every day, I hate to think what would have happened, what would be buried underneath dry wall and carpet. But it was highly educational, cannot recommend it enough as a learning experience. I’m just glad we didn’t go and build the so-called dream house this first time around; there’s a lot I would do differently.
I’m finding I would not have put the lovely taupe frieze carpet on the stairs, for example. I’d have gone with the same color in a closed loop. Live and learn.
Rayne @ 217
Doesn’t it drip with bitter Irony, “We’re not in the ‘Nation-Building’ business!” And, the best one; “Clinton has stretched our Military!” Who has broken the Military?
yes, outside on the hill in back of my shack sitting in a rocking chair holding my mac and shivering…all quiet now, but I know there is something over to my left in the clump of sage
…very funny ET
Well, 2:30 is bedtime in Fargo. My 6pm coffee has worn off. Thanks for all the decor tips.
spidey, wifi is a wondrous thing
spiderpaws @ 222
The Israeli hospital workers don’t wash their hands? That’s weird. Is it because they are tending to Palestinians?
The animals don’t mind you being there, Spiderpaws. They know darn good and well you live there. All’s harmony unless you scare them. Next time put on some warm socks and long underwear!
In the sage? Probably a racoon? It’s solstice city. Everybody’s excited!
…ET… the workers are Russian Jews and the patients are on the dole, both Israeli and Palestians
Self Righteousness combined with crippling greed and the power to feed all of it at once is what happened. I knew i didn’t like the idiot when he ran in 2000, but ye gods little did i know just how bad it would get.
I’m not afraid to travel abroad, but it’s going to make it harder to do a lot of stuff otherwise. I’m still wondering if i can get dual citizenship still becuase my mom’s canadian. I’m almost 30 so i think i’ve passed the mark when i can, but i’ll have to check with canada’s immigration people to be sure.
ReneND @ 228
Nite, ReneND!!!
Off to bed, headache finally a dull roar. Only 3 hours before I have to get up. [sigh]
Thanks for the dip in the lake, gang.
Rayne @ 235
Nite, Rayne!!!
sleep well, Rayne and ReneND
…think I better go in, my knees feel kinda numb
Michael Moore says that he’s been spending so much time with NYC firefighters and other first responders to 9/11, he’s less and less comfortable with the narrative of what happened that day. He wants to see footage from the “300″ cameras around the Pentagon that day which are still classified.
take care, spidey.
Goodnight Rene and Rayne.
Ed*ard Teller @ 239
That would be most interesting! Considering the only vid of the Pentagon crash was from a Parking Lot cam!!!
Ed*ard Teller @ 239
Oh dear.
Why does Noam Chompsky think it doesn’t matter about whether it was planned or not?
About time for me to hit the rack myself. Still lots to do for the Open House Sunday while keeping it presentable for any showings before then. Means cleaning in stages instead of my usual tornado-ish mess while cleaning.
I will be glad when I am no longer in the hamster wheel of real estate.
g’nite all
ET, people on an earlier thread were talking about 85 or so professors (I assume U.S.) were speaking about a 9/11 conspiracy. I don’t even want to think that anyone would be insanely capable of that.
Suzanne @ 245
I empathize with ya! Bon Nuit, Ma Cheri!!!
Ed*ard Teller @ 239
(((((Michael Moore))))) and thanks for the link as well ET.
Nighty night Suzanne.
In truth, there was very little about the Pentagon crash stuff and it seemed like all the info was hushed up. I believe there was some monkey business over there in DC. The Bushies didn’t even seem shocked or surprised by the fact it happened in their yard, they just deflected attention from it and talked about NY
…off to bed with ya Suzi
spiderpaws @ 250
True, in that vid I mentioned you can’t really determine what flashed by!!! I agree more scrutiny is necessary!!!
Yes, thanks for the link, ET.
Ahs well, once again, time for me to bid a fond adieu to the Lake! Aloha Oe!!!
Nite CTuttle. Sweet Hawaiian breeze dreams!
Back from taking some midnight in Alaska summer solstice pics for Suzanne.
Loo Hoo. @ 218
The best of the Bean Wars was at Milagro Bean field, IMHO.

Well, then, you don’t want to read David Ray Griffin’s 9/11 Commission Report.

A-12 == a version of the SR-71
Good morning from bucolic but trendy Blue Ridge GA…54 with a high of 90 and clear in the forecast.
I LOVE to have my cockles warmed.
Good morning, pups. Sad to say, Bobo is all alone behind the firewall today. He says that moral instruction in the schools is a waste of time.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
Coffee and tea are ready, and to get the bad taste of Bobo out of my brain I’m serving up chocolate croissants. Have a great Friday.
Good morning firepups!
Been away doing a long jury trial. Many 20 hour days. My sleep schedule is all wonky now, so I fell asleep in the middle of olberman last night and woke up at 3:30 this morning.
But I am so glad to find everyone still here at the lake.
I missed you all!
Marion in Savannah @ 262
Dang Marion, I’m trying to extract a point from Brooksie’s sludge. “We’re perceivers first, not deciders.” What does that mean?
That there is no point in education? “Sex ed doesn’t change behavior. Birth control education doesn’t produce measurable results. The fact is, schools are ineffectual when it comes to values education.” I was under the impression that honest and reality based sex education actually cuts pregnancy rates in teens, if combined with access to contraception and health care. Someone with the time and inclination should fact check this mess.
Hi looseheadprop!
oh, and this should be interesting:

Hi Everyone,
Good to see you all on a cool blue morning with last night’s raindrops blowing from the trees.
I’ve fallen in love

Welcome back LHP
Agency Is Target in Cheney Fight on Secrecy Data
No time to read, so apologies if this has already been posted, but wouldn’t it be great if we had a president whose worst flaw was “bad fashion decisions“?
Renee in Ohio @ 270
I was just looking at that article over at WaPoo and thinking to myself, “Wow! Now THIS is some hard hitting reporting on some important breaking news!”
morning all! and welcome back to LHP…
Yeah, twolf1. Just goes to show why us dirty hippy bloggers can never be taken as seriously as “real” news reporters…

Here we range from sighs (hubby at 5 AM) to whimpers (me at 5:20) to growls and snarls (teen at any hour before noon)
The cats either look at me like “be glad I don’t have opposable thumbs or I would strangle you”, or just pretend they can’t hear me.
The dog, however, (part border collie, part papa-was-a-rollin-stone) stretches, wags, and “sings” – she doesn’t care if the sun’s up or not, she’s ready to play!
Thanks for the video TRex – I didn’t see it until morning, nice to get a little dose of cute before wading into reality.
BTW, how’s the fire situation in GA now? Smoke’s gone from here in southern Tennessee, now we’re just left with the oppressive heat and a drought that has all fireworks displays for July 4 canceled.
98 is TOO FREAKIN HOT for June, I need to move further up into the mountains!
New thread…
Trex, that was so sweet…..warmed my heart too. My kitty died Wednesday, I missed her meow this morning.
ReneND @ 15
Weighing in a day late but…….if at all possible, best to go natural. Bamboo is excellent, sustainable, and cost about the same. Tile is a good alternative to carpet, too.
Carpet is not healthy!

Louis sends his condolences.
