Teddy? Music is always my inspiriation. If i ever write anything? It’s because i hear it in a song, or because i ‘hear’ the voices of those muses as clear as day. Keeps me sane in more ways than i can count nowadays.

I’d seen that earlier. There have been any number of problems there, and at least some have to do with the “outsourcing” of civil service jobs to contractors. There are also problems that have been unaddressed for years, like the computer systems.
On topic – Jane inspires me. She doesn’t let anything slow her down.
My youngest daughter has fought hard to overcome her demons, with great success I must proudly brag, and she inspires me to never give up hope.
The people here at the lake, the commenters, inspire me to become more of what I should be.

They were an option made by LJ when i was personalizing my journal. They’ve probably got oodles more. I know that one as ‘goth girl’ something or other. I’m no goth personally, but i just loved the look of the little thing with the moods. *grins* Someone on the LJ staff made them, and i’ve had that widget set for like 3 years now. Love it too much to switch.
Does everyone also love Tiga?

Seredipity inspires me. When I see or read several things related to the same topic, over a brief period of time, I can feel the inspiration coming. It’s strange — it suddenly seems to align from several different sources, then goes *click*

Serendipity is good in the way you describe. I also enjoy that same effect when I consume a lot of data and post-process it while I sleep.

heh, yeah that crossed my mind.
Yes, serendipity can be inspirational (it’s inspired a few articles at my blog, for instance). Seeing things that others have done in an area I’m interested in is a big inspiration – I always want to try it, too. That and finding out that people find what I’ve done useful.

Inspiration for me can be found on the back of a horse. Last Wednesday I rode in a large field – half of which was cut for hay – with a breeze blowing, birds singing, and the smell of warm earth and, well, life, was overpowering.
All was right with the world – and yes that took a bit of doing to forget so much that is wrong, but for one blissful hour, I did it.
oh yeah and deciding yet again to try out the money management techniques by the same people who wrote ‘the artists way’……
that’s an inspiring thought!

I have twins, both with disabilities.
It was their birthday yesterday (8 y/o)
My son has significant brain damage. He can’t speak, he’s not toilet trained, and walks with difficulty.
He’s also the happiest person I’ve ever known. I think of him as a proto-human… the person we are all inherently capable of being.
He reminds me that the universe is an infinitely cool place; full of things to laugh uncontrollably about while jumping up and down and flapping our hands in excitement.
Race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, weight, nationality, career path, looks, political beliefs… all the things we use to seperate ourselves from one another are meaningless.
In his world everyone is willing to help, if he only asks.
He eats when he’s hungry, sleeps when he’s tired, and the only two phrases he’s bothered to learn are the ones he deemed important.

Not really. It’s mainly a question of folding in the stiffly beaten egg whites to keep the mixture fluffy, and then leaving it alone in the oven to do its magic. Try one some time — even if they collapse they still taste good! (Just call it quiche…!)

I don’t know what to say. But this is worth reading over again.
My oldest son inspires me. He’s an infantry soldier halfway through a combat tour in Iraq.
At the age of 25 he’s had friends killed and grievously wounded, he helped save the life of one, he disagrees with the war but while he’s there he’s determined to do the best he can.
He loves the Iraqi people, he’s taught himself enough Arabic to communicate, and his emails are full of humor and humanity.
He remains upbeat and able to see the grace and beauty even in horrific circumstances.
My son is my hero.

I just saw them play an instore at Amoeba records, in Los Angeles. They are one of the best bands I’ve ever seen.

I forgot to add, no politicians are inspiring me and despite the wisdom of Ralph Nader and the eco-interest of Al Gore, I remain unimpressed. Is it me or are these folks simply dull?
Is Barack Obama really exciting to anyone who doesn’t have dark skin?
Does Hilary Clinton really excite anyone who isn’t female?
Does ANY Republican presidential candidate really excite ANYONE?
How could current politicians inspire in this commercial atmosphere? There certainly isn’t any real way an individual could respond that could have important effects. We doubt the election system, street protests are ignored, unions are broken, the environment might be going to heck in a handbasket, the economy benefits a handful and crushes everyone else, etc.
What’s to inspire? Who suggests real change? Can any real change be allowed to occur? Does Hillary think that she, of all people, would be allowed to “do” health care reform? Does Barack really think White folk are going to elect him? What does Giuliani see when he looks in the mirror? A hero? What’s to inspire?
I prefer a walk in the park and watching all the people havin’ fun, throwing frisbees or footballs, walking babies, layin’ in the sun and the like. It’s thrilling to see real life — not like commercial ‘life’.
