No Way!

Perhaps I’m mistaken. But, by the way he acts and presents himself, he could be the twin of my ex-husband. You know we all have a twin out there somewhere?!!?

Oh yes. No need to feel regrets. The bad-ex thing happens to a good percentage of all of us.

“REP. BILBRAY QUESTIONS: Talking about himself, having been an at risk GOP candidate in 2006, and the meanness of using statements made prior to public service actions.”

Just want to remind everyone that Bilbray was rushed to the Congress to be sworn in BEFORE the California legal process challenging the election had even been heard.

States’ rights and respect for elections? Not a leg to stand on.

You are having too much fun with this = your contempt is showing.

Sorry, I find the arrogance contemptuous and Sarbanes pretty much said the same thing. I should not have called her a bitch. Mea Culpa.

Silly me. I thought you meant that I(LS) was having too much fun with this…tee, hee (because I was..). Or were you? :)

Was Sarbannes ever a trial lawyer?

Sarbanes’ dad is Paul Sarbanes, until 2006, Dem Senator from MD. I’m sure there were some interesting discussions around HIS dinner table growing up.

And if his MOM reads FDL/TNH, probably his dad does too.

Cardin now has “his” [elder Sarbanes’] seat.

I am with Watson I thought this hearing was about whether Doan violated the Hatch Act.

It is very much about language and how it is used to obstruct communication, to obfuscate, and to lie.

I know why I was not an English Major. I heard Doan say “horty torty something or other”

Thanks for all of the insights by the attorneys and those in the know.

Hugh @ 207

Wordsmith @ 132

Noun / verb construct.

There are various ways of categorizing languages. So English is said to be a SVO (subj verb obj) whereas Latin in this view would be SOV but there is no notion of backwardness here. You can also refer to these as verb second or verb final.

You can distinguish between nominative and ergative languages, between those that are heavily inflected and those that aren’t, between those that prepose qualifiers and/or clitics and those that post pose them: the red book vs le crayon jaune for example.

Welll….hmmm -

In learning Spanish, French, and German, and in speaking Norwegian with my grandparents and other relatives, I noticed that the structure was different and in traveling heard it described as being ‘backwards or reversed’ in relation to English.

Other than, I’m not knowledgeable on grammer, tenses, etc, enough to speak definitively.
