one other minor point: there’s an infinity of horrible shit going on every day, every where, to all kinds of people and other living creatures……that NO ONE short of an omniscient God could ever possibly begin to keep up with.

Animal suffering, for example, is my own particular close to the heart issue. Am I gonna rant and rave because it’s not often addressed here?

I could care less if you want to meet me, I have plenty of friends! People who can not handle a legitimate challenge are not people I am interested in anyway.

The responses to the challenge prove my point! People get quite testy when you question why the MSM and the so called “liberal” blogs stay clear of this issue.

This seems unlikely. It is true that Wyo. law dictates that a republican must be chosen for this seat, however, it is a Democratic Governor that will make the selection.

The Lawrence Franklin espionage scandal (also known as the AIPAC espionage scandal) refers to allegations that information regarding United States policy towards Iran was passed to Israel through Lawrence Franklin via staffers affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Franklin, a former Defense Department employee, has pleaded guilty to several espionage-related charges and was sentenced in January 2006 to nearly thirteen years of prison. Two former AIPAC employees have also been indicted.

As I understand it the Bush admin. idea was to prosecute the ‘former employees’ with a law which is never used that way, to say it was illegal for them to ‘receive’ classified info. And, the long-term plan is to use that as precedent to punish journalists who receive stuff from whistleblowers.

I don’t know what their current thinking is on that case since Judy Judy Judy has already gone to jail and there hasn’t been must whistling going on in recent months — though the recent e-mails from DoJ may qualify.

Maybe Bushies will prosecute to the hilt just because they’re jerks. Who knows.

notice that the person ranted and left, which is what she usually does, i wish people would get a clue to that and quit feeding her rants.

actually I tried to engage with her and some others about this stuff a while back, because I have some inherent discomforts about Israel bashing. I even went and looked up that trial she’s talking about. Had the sense that it’s something less than a smoking gun…..

but, anyway, I stay out of the whole issue now, on those occasions when it is NEVER mentioned here.

Where’s Cheney really from, TSF? Let’s see, who’s money should I bet…

He is from Wyoming; attended Yale for one semester and dropped out. Finished his bachelors at UWyoming, accumulating many deferments in the process. Elected to Congress from Wyoming; then moved to DeeCee, ran GHWB’s DefenseDept and worked for AEI.

He moved to Texas to head Halliburton, leading to a court case after the 2000 election (one of several, you may recall). This case turned on the constitutional requirement that no state’s electors may vote for a candidate for P and VP from their own state (a holdover from the post-colonial era, when balance was sought between New England and the Southern no-longer-colonies).

The court ruled Cheney wasn’t a Texan (despite, iirc, voter registration there) because he had been elected to Congress from Wyoming. Therefore, he was from Wyoming. Texas could therefore cast its electoral votes for W for Pres and Cheney for Veep.

Unlike Florida, where the Presidency and VicePresidency were in question, the Texas-residency case presented the possibility of a Bush Presidency and a Lieberman Vice Presidency. Imagine how the world might be different!
