Hello, everyone! This is Phoenix Woman again, subbing for TRex, who is on a well-deserved vacation. I'll also throw out a Late Late Nite post if y'all seem particularly rambunctious tonight.
Thought I'd pass along the following news tidbits — Some are old, some are new, some are borrowed, and some are blue:
– Under the "old" (but still eminently pertinent) category: Cliff Schecter discusses the sad tale of Col. Ted Westhusing. This is a tale that never made it to the evening news, probably because it cuts to the heart of why the invasion and occupation of Iraq was and is so very wrong, and to this day the GOP/Media Complex really doesn't want to look too closely — or too accurately — at that.
– Self-pimpage department: Come with me as I delve into the Voter Vault and the arcane mysteries of the Republican Party. (Cue Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BVW565.)
– Friend-pimpage department: Co-blogger Charles has an interesting piece on a Mexican paramilitary group aligned with Mexico's new leader, Felipe Calderon, and with connections to Calderon's predecessor Vincente Fox. Mexico's recent sharp rise in violence has been simply attributed to "drug lords", but the role of paramilitary groups with a political agenda cannot be overlooked.
So what about you? Got any tidbits you'd like to pass on? [UPDATE: Check this out! Eeeeep.]

Phoenix Woman!
Almost zed!
so close…
Substitute! Time to get out the spitballs and rubber bands!
Evenin’ Phoenix Woman, evenin’ all!
Theodore San Francisco! Where are your company manners, young man?
That’s some serious fuckery, PW.
Sorry, OT, but you gotta read this:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..82434/8934
Darth up to his dirty elbows in pushing back against DOJ
re: wiretapping in 2004.
G’evening, PW. Very nice tidbits might I add :)
I am sorry that the colonel killed himself and really glad that you’re helping to get the word out. I know a lot of guys in the military and none of them want to work for corrupt CO’s or human rights abusers. It’s only gonna get a lot worse when all the soldiers come back from Iraq.
allan_in_upstate @ 10
Yes…this is goooood….very gooood…
Evening all. Looks like TSF is trying to stir up a food fight.
And HI PW.
SnarKassandra @ 12
That is a sad story cloaked in mystery.
TeddySanFran @ 5
You will end up in detention with Suzanne glaring at you ALL morning.
LS @ 9
Fred Malek, IIRC, is one of the guys who was trying to bring baseball back to DC before we got the Nats. Knew I’d heard that name somewhere before.
TeddySanFran @ 5
What kind of Fuckery is that!!! :P Right on, PW!!!
SnarKassandra @ 17
Suzanne will Cuff Teddy if he gets out of line! Some people have all the luck… *g* Evening, Ma Cheri!!! ;->
TeddySanFran @ 5

What does a substitute have to do with it?
Phoenix Woman @ 21
Make him come at 7:15 AM instead. MUCH worse to have to get up early.
Phoenix Woman channeling Sister Mary Elephant (remember her from Cheech and Chong?) —
Class….class….SHUUUUUT UUUUUUUP!!!
Thank yew.
Phoenix Woman @ 24
Yes maam!!!!!!!
Theodore! Put that down NOW! Detention after school for YOU, young man!
rubbing hands together gleefully
CT – if you think you can get me to cuff ya by following Theodore’s example, just forget about it.
Sorry, Petro.
Congrats to the Senators for an outstanding season.
But the words “Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks” do have a nice ring to them.
Peterr @ 25
They think that substitute teachers are pushovers. They think wrong. (pulls out tawse, admires sheen of polished bridle leather)

Another very timely and important diary at DailyKos which belongs on the recommended list, if anyone here can help:

This is in regard to breaking developments in Iraq surrounding the oil bill and the struggle between Iraqi nationalists (who are on their own as far as the occupiers of their country are concerned) and Iraqi separatists who are promoted and supported by the American occupiers.
The oil worker unions have gone on strike in Basra, and Bush’s puppet, the Vichy Iraq Prime Minister al-Maliki has issued arrest warrants for the union leaders in response, and of course Washington and the media in America are ignoring it as best they can.
We need to stand with the people of Iraq, even if our government won’t.
LoudounLib @ 27
Young man! Give me that knife!
sssssooossshh THUNK
Thank yew.

“Now we see the violence inherent in the system.”
EvilDrPuma @ 32
I like teachers. When my life was crazy at home school and teachers are what made things seem OK. and i always liked how if the teacher said “study these pages for the test” then that is exactly what was on the test.
What I remember from that C&C Album was the judge’s order to the bailiff about the weinie wagger.
Suzanne @ 7
yes’m
SnarKassandra @ 36
Speaking on behalf of the world’s teachers, thank you.
burnspbesq @ 30
I haven’t seen him today, must be crying big time in his beer!!!
Phoenix Woman @ 31
That would imply that Teddy never uses spitballs and rubber bands when TRex is around.
Suzanne, that’s lost in the mists of time for me — what did the judge order?
Peterr @ 41
Well, he was the one who said it was because we had a substitute.
Sister Mary Elephant:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSJ_k49ITUY
Where is the sanity and reason of threatening a teacher with 40 years because adult pics popped up on the class room computer, which is old and not firewalled? Who would even bring this ridiculous thing to trial? Why are the parents, other teachers, the town not on the barricades?
Must say, read about that first in European news few weeks ago and could not believe…

Evening, all.
Just the name “Voter Vault” sends chills up my spine.
“So, you want to cast a ballot? Just step right through that big door over there . . . BWAHAHAHAHA!!!”
RonD @ 50
Hiya!
LOL Suzanne, that’s right ;-) (I was off watching the C&C YouTube — thanks LS!)
fires a spitball at TSF
Evenin’ RonD
Peterr, yes I have had detention. Mostly in 5th and 6th grade. Even got ISS in 5th for 3 days. UGH! THAT was awful.
mulligatawny @ 46
Back to the Salem witch hunts. There are bad actors out there who do heinous things, but this is not one of them. The laws are too broad.
Fred Malek was also Richard Nixon’s Jew-counter
He’s been at the center, or near to it, of GOP evildoing for some time.
Just in time for summer:
another Israel – Syria war.
Congrats on your zed.
And Margot, remember “Earache, my eye!” — wasn’t that also the good sister?
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!
I can’t take it!! This was a terrible idea!!
Somebody call Gavin, he’s probably got some primo snark in the drawer of his coffee table that he’ll spot me until I can pay him back. I NEED MY FIX!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
HaHa.. TRex, I tried to warn ya but noooooooooooooooo, you wanted to go cold turkey.
hey TRex!! got a jones for Late Nite FDL, have you? ;-)
TRex @ 62
707!!!!
TRex @ 62
Hi TRex!!!!! (Wanna be SnarkaRex?)
TRex @ 61
I think TRex has been lurking.
LS @ 9
Very interesting. Thanks you.
TRex @ 62
You wimp!!! Where’s that stiff upper lip, Chap? ;)
LS @ 57
This is a classic example of rule by emotion rather than reason and the inevitable over reaction it produces. As a society we have gotten increasingly addicted to “zero tolerance” rules which inevitably produce ludicrous results. Conservative fear mongering has played a significant role in the evolution of this trend.
*twitch*, *shudder*
I’m a wreck, here, gang.
Call my sponsor. This is going to be a rough, rough week….
Teddy, re Malek — well he’s just an all-around stand-up guy, isn’t he? bleah
TRex, hopefully your internet vacation coincides with a work vacation as well?
Earache my eye was the good sister, LL. I loved the Big Bamboo album – that huge rolling paper was da bomb!
Totally OT:
Okay, the dealer I ordered my new cell phone from is looking increasingly less legit. Angry complaints are popping up in their feedback suddenly and I still haven’t gotten my phone.
Should I be freaking out?
TRex @ 71
“…I’m just going to check my E-mail!” Righhhttt!!!
RonD @ 73
Nope. I’m right here playing Chopin for the masses.
We warned you TRex. No way were you going a whole week without your late night snark. ;-)
Maybe the whole repressed society of Republicans needs to go skinny dipping (Ew) and chill out…they are so threatened by everything “organic” or “real”.
TRex @ 75
Sounds like you already are.
TRex @ 62
(firing spitballs rapidly)
Back! Back!
Go back to your vacation!!!
TRex @ 75
My cell phone cover took 3 weeks cause it came from China even though the company says it is here in Texas.
DrDick @ 77
Two days is a far cry from the whole week…
TRex @ 75
How bad is the feedback? If it’s really bad, cancel your order and call your credit card company to backstop you. Why go through the agony?
And what are you doing on the computer, anyway?
EvilDrPuma @ 83
He was here last night too, right TRex????
Peterr @ 81
707
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
Okay, fine.
*pouts*
I’m just going to go out in the garden and eat Republicans. Nobody loves me.
re your phone dealer–Ms.D and I are of the opinion that it is indeed time to freak out. Patience is for the guy who writes and says “there’s a problem”.
EvilDrPuma @ 83
True. He’s worse than we thought. I figured he was good for 3-4 days before he began to crack. That’s some serious snark habit you got there TRex.

TRex @ 75
Yes.
Simple answers to simple questions.
oh come now TRex, you know how Republicans upset your digestive system. And we do too heart you ;-)
LoudounLib @ 93
I thought they figured into the end of the digestive process.
“GOP/Media Complex”-I love it. Can I steal it from you?
TRex @ 87
Stop it!! I can’t take it!! I’m having one of those laugh until I can’t breathe moments after I fell off the chair…..okay, I needed that.
Ok, here’s a little taste for ya, kid — just to tide you over until the shakes start to go away.
http://balkin.blogspot.com/200…..-rant.html
LoudounLib @ 93
How’d that old nursery chant go?
Nobody likes me.
Everybody hates me.
Think I’ll go eat worms.
Although, given the size of a TRex nursery, I can see where they’d substitute something a bit larger for that last word.
We love ya, TRex. As my mom used to say, “Some day, you’ll thank me for this.”
Peterr — my mom used to say “It builds character” ;-)
TeddySanFran @ 90
Ooh, Suzanne or PW, Teddy’s acting up again!!! :P
Peterr @ 98
Actually, worms are less disgusting than Republicans (and much easier on the digestion).
RonD @ 88
FTC! Consumer Protection! Class action lawsuit! DONE DIRT CHEAP…..
I’m in a position of concealment and cover behind the curtain (where the extra rubber bands are kept).
CT – you do know what happens to snitches, right?
DrDick, don’t forget the chaser of Pepcid and vodka you’d need after a Republican!
The WaPo’s “Free Scooter!” editorial is finally up. They think Bush should cut the baby in half:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..inionsbox1
A TRex with a digestive disorder may be grounds for accompanying Cheney and his grandchildren and Mary Matlin and Scooter Libby to a desolate undisclosed location in order to take cover.
very funny picture (no politics)
Suzanne @ 103
They get Cuffed??? :-)
oddmommy,
HIGH VOLLL-TAGE!
DrDick @ 101
NONE of them have spines so you need to add potato chips for crunch.
Poor TRexie! (((dinohug)))
SnarKassandra @ 110NONE of them have spines so you need to add potato chips for crunch.
ROTFLMAO!
LL,
I don’t remember that part, I’m going to have to see the movie again.
Do you remember “Born in East LA”?
CTuttle @ 108
No
DrDick @ 112
ROTFLMAO!
!!!!!!
oddmommy @ 102
Did someone say dirt cheap???
Frank Probst @ 105
Oh, bleep Fred Hiatt with a rusty chainsaw. That bleeping bleephead bleeper is getting on my last bleeping nerve. Bleep.
Suzanne @ 114
It is a tad rowdy around here tonight. I’m glad I am not on duty!
Margot, I sure do. Wow, C&C flashbacks, man ;-) They had a pretty great novelty Christmas song too.
TeddySanFran @ 90
Here comes the tail…
THWACK!!!
Oh, bleep Fred Hiatt with a rusty chainsaw. That bleeping bleephead bleeper is getting on my last bleeping nerve. Bleep.
Don’t hold back, PW. Tell us how you really feel.

They just have to stand in the corner and look at the cuffs. For hours. Without touching them.
Then the cuffs get taken away, and they have to look at the empty spot where they used to be. For hours.
TRex @ 120
See what you made him do, Theodore?
Is this the TRex Radio Request Line?
How about the Dvorak F major string quartet?
Phoenix Woman @ 117
That’s gonna leave a mark!
DrDick @ 125
not to mention the tetanus!
Suzanne @ 121
Nah, it’s a school night and there are Impressionable Youth present (hi, Cassie!). Must at least attempt to Set A Good Example. (goes off to oil chainsaw)
SnarKassandra @ 106
I don’t know if that’s funny or terrifying.
Peterr @ 122
HARSH! ROTHFLMAO!
I seriously need to keep my asthma inhaler closer to the computer!~
LoudounLib @ 125
And God only knows what’s going to happen to Hiatt.
Frank Probst @ 105
I saw that earlier. Gosh, let’s just say to every government official that you get a mulligan for your first lie or four to a grand jury, as long as you’ve got a nice fat defense fund to pay a simple fine.
Check please!
And this guy is a former prosecutor?
RonD @ 109
yaaaaahhhh!
You invited the passing on of tidbits with the intro post and I just had to come over and share with you guys, I’m so proud:
“National Intel Budget May Be Buried in PowerPoint.”
From the UPI wire service:
They just have to stand in the corner and look at the cuffs. For hours. Without touching them.
Then the cuffs get taken away, and they have to look at the empty spot where they used to be. For hours.
Peterr, that is just so sick and twisted – I like the way you think :)
Hey Dr Hillhouse (waving)
the intelligence budget for fiscal year 2006 was closer to $60 billion, nearly 25 percent higher than the $45-48 billion figure typically projected
ohhhh, what my agency couldn’t do with just a fraction of that….
R J Hillhouse–The Spy Who Billed Me @ 134
Your old math teacher was right: algebra is important!
Good catch, and thanks for passing it along!!
LoudounLib @ 137
Or my university and the public schools in my state.
Peterr @ 122
Cruel and unusual punishment.
TRex @ 77
60 foot Theropod on a grand piano! This I gotta see…
Frank Probst @ 105
Otis clearly missed the reasoning for Scooter’s lying! Jail time is necessary to force Libby to reconsider his options, i.e. rollover on Shooter and Turd Blossom!!! Jez my $.02!!!
damn, pumpkin time again — good night all, happy snarking!
DrDick @ 101
It’s true. Cross my heart, I took a class once at the end of which we ate a cake with worms in it.
Peterr @ 122
That would be a miserable form of torture!!! :P
R J Hillhouse–The Spy Who Billed Me @ 134
Heh! Why am I not surprised?
LoudounLib @ 143
Night LL. Sleep well.
My tidbit:
Free Eric Volz! http://www.friendsofericvolz.com
Help if you can.
R J Hillhouse–The Spy Who Billed Me @ 134
How much goes to govt intelligence people and how much to contractors?
The fun part is that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence screwed up and allowed an unclassified PowerPoint presentation with some data they *probably* didn’t want out embedded inside. It took only a couple of clicks to find it. Whoops!
Remember, this is the office of our nation’s top spy. Seems they need to learn about operational security and PowerPoint.
Yeah, know what you mean about high school algebra. All that suffering years ago for this moment. Think I’d rather have my youth back…
Goodnight LoudonLib!
CTuttle @ 142
Over at the white collar crime profs’ blog, Ellen Podgor makes an interesting point. In her view, Libby’s leverage is gone. Whatever he might know, his testimony has little or no value. After all, he’s a convicted perjurer — why should a jury believe anything he says?
Oopsie.
BTW: Suzanne, I’m getting the Late Late Nite FDL prepped — it’ll be ready soon. :-)
R J Hillhouse–The Spy Who Billed Me @ 134
Most excellent, Dude!!! Nice work, Hombre!!! Kudos!!!
Frank Probst @ 105
I’d like to add that I think this “modest proposal” is a total non-starter. Bush can’t really commute Libby’s sentence but leave the guilty verdict intact. That means that Bush thinks Scooter (his own aide) really is guilty of obstruction of justice in an investigation in which Bush himself was involved. But he’s giving him a get-out-of-jail card, anyway. I don’t think so. Any prosecutor with a pulse would argue that such an act is itself an obstruction of justice.
In fact, Bush is going to be hard-pressed to pardon Libby without looking like he’s obstructing justice. Somebody in the Administration gets this (David Addington is my guess), which is why nobody is even talking about it.
Nobody seems to be able to point out just how much hot water Scooter is in. Look at the letters of support, for starters. They’re a “Who’s Who” of right-wing nutcases, but there aren’t many reasonable voices in the mix. And his co-cospirators were clearly told that writing in Scooter’s defense was a no-no. (Addington again, I think.) Where’s a letter from Colin Powell? Or even Condi Rice? The Shooter is hoping the whole thing gets reversed on appeal. (Addington didn’t okay that press release, I think. Cheney’s walking up to the line of obstructing justice, which Addington wouldn’t let him do.) But a conservative judge, who was himself appointed by George W Bush, has already NOT thrown the case out, but he’s gone on to throw the book at Libby and then say that he doesn’t think Libby has a prayer in hell of winning his appeals. In fact, pretty much every judge who’s been involved in this case has said that, contrary to the right-wing talking points, this case was a big deal, and Fitz has done a meticulous job of prosecuting it.
R J Hillhouse–The Spy Who Billed Me @ 150
Thanks for sharing. This is amazing.
Dr. Hillhouse, very nice feather in your cap with that UPI attribution. Looking forward to more about your find on your blog.
g’nite LL
SnarKassandra @ 148
Ah, now there’s a good question.
CTuttle @ 154
Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but if you click the link on RJ’s name, you’ll see that that Dude/Hombre is a woman.

Did someone say dirt cheap???
eggzellent! THANK you for that. Usually it’s kinda awkward having ac/dc on with my kids around…….but now they’re asleep.
(and we will not even get INTO the questions I’ve had to answer when they snoop thru my i-tunes…)
Frank Probst @ 105
1. Good Lord, they are bringing up Sandy Berger. Sandy Berger pleaded guilty and admitted his crime (unlike Scooter). And the Bush DOJ metted out his sentence.
2. There are two reasons why sentences are imposed: 1) Specific deterance – that is – this particular defendant will not commit another crime cuz he’s in jail – maybe one can make the argument that Libby will not commit another crime, as the WAPO has and 2) General deterance – that by putting this defendant away others won’t commit the same crime. This is why Libby got such a stiff sentence (IMHO)
Hiya Helen!
Phoenix Woman @ 156
Cool story. How old is R. J. Hillhouse? I’m hoping this is revenge of the younger generation.
Phoenix Woman @ 153
Thank you, PW. They are fiesty tonight – I believe they took your rambunctious comment as a challenge.
oddmommy @ 160
I have tons of bluegrass on my iPod — my kid can’t stand it, so I play it whenever he’s in my car. Take THAT, Man-Cub.
Frank Probst’s articulate analysis of the Libby case makes me all warm and fuzzy inside..
This CDC/TB thing is weird. Today, CDC testified that there is a law for keeping people out of the U.S., but no law for preventing U.S. citizens from leaving. That is what the CDC is asking for – a change in legislation allowing them to decide who can come and who can go.
Folks, I’m having a go-relax-and-read-a-book craving, so I’m going to sign off early. Be excellent to each other.
Repubs gotta squirm! They hate the Law!
Hiya Cassie – what are you doing for the summer?

Actually it is much easier if you are just openly strange – that REALLY freaks them out. I have had pierced ears all of my son’s life and had long hair when he was younger. Neeedless to say when he asked if he could get a trendy haircut or pierce his ears, my response was, “I don’t care as long as it is all right with the school authorities.” Generally produced palpable disappointment. He eventually did pierce his ears, but not for another 5 years.

My younger son asked if he could get his hair bleached, this was when he was about 9. The fad then was for guys to bleach the top of their heads and wear it spiky.
I said, “Oooh what fun! I have all the stuff right here!”
Poor kid looked like a deflated balloon. Definitely did not want his hair bleached anymore!

I agree– this is a show stopper. I guess we need some new laws, along the lines of the Hatch Act, to not only make this stuff illegal, and to *prevent* it.

I am writing a new post about republican hypocrisy. Can anyone give me other areas I should include? This is what I have to start.

*tee hee* a few years back when my girls were still in HS, I was musing about dying my hair magenta. My neo-hippie oldest merely rolled her eyes. My ms-pop-culture-princess youngest exclaimed in horror, “NO! Mom, that’s a BOYS color!” Sigh. She’s now in college and not nearly so easy to embarass.

It can’t be true. Not Dick Cheney!!
Hi guys. (for me that’s not gender specific.)
I haven’t been lurking, just trying to catch up with youse. You’re kinda all over…
Re the rubberbands…I think you missed…
Somebody’s going to lose an eye!
and
Re the hair dye and piercings: When my daughter was 17 she wanted her belly button pierced. I drove. I paid. I watched that women put that huge needle through my baby’s cute little button. Almost puked. She’s 24 now and moved to DC last year. We talk about three times a week. (Gawd, I miss her so much.), but anyway, last week she told me she took the ring out.
I’m just gratefull she didn’t tattoo her (old) boyfriend’s name on her neck.

Are they going to produce the document wherein Dick Cheney advocates turning old people into Soylent Green?

Tinfoil hat moment-I hope Dr. Hillhouse isn’t in any trouble. You know, like a DOJ that might want to prosecute someone for leaking classified info-
I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are
the good people and the bad people.
You’re wrong, of course.
There are, always and only, the bad people,
But some of them are on opposite sides.

OK. My new post is up and I have to go to sleep. Night y’all!
(If that’s hard to read, look at it here.)

Hi Suzanne.
I can’t figure out the tinfoil hat reference.
Plz help.
GSD that is so sad about Costa Rica switching from Taiwan to China as trading partners. Taiwan built the beautiful bridge on the Niquoia Peninsula for them…

Night Cassie. Sleep well.

Did you catch PJEvans comments about a perceived up and coming earthquate? Thought you should know.
G’Nite. Ms. Cassie.

NO Deborah. What’s up?
Who would’ve thought that Paris Hilton would show more class and adult responsibility re going to jail than Scooter Libby?
Never thought I’d say that.

Teachers live for kids like YOU dear Cassie – wide awake, curious, eager to learn, intellectually awake and all that very good stuff. But you already know this for you are blessed with Auntie Betsy.

Yeah. Ol’ Scooter is going to have to take over as the poster child for spoiled, over privileged twits.

[snip] He said he was leaving in order to spend more time with his family.
Spend time with the family – before being indicted for something? Got to bank up that time before heading off to jail?
Spend time with the family is cya-speak for does not want to say why because it is embarrassing.
here’s my tidbit: Commercial Bee keepers (you know the ones who truck thousands of hives around the US to pollinate fields) claim the BEE FEED (who knew? we use sugar water) they use has protein in it from China and it is poisoning the bees with whatever the latest China poison is. This is the latest theory about hive collapse.
Children as young as 7 held in jail, dozens of prisoners “dissappeared”.

Nope.

Look for Scooter Libby to get a long-term gig on FOX: “The Treason Chronicles with Scooter Libby”.
Good evening dear friends. Hope there’s something soothing in the lake for my muscles!
Hey, TexB!

Spidey, has it been proven or still a theory?
Wonder what our snack will be…
Hey Aunt Betsy. Sorry to here your muscles are acheing. (Fires up the official FDL whirlpool). Ease right in and relax in the soothing waters.

It was late-late nite Sat and talking-heads on Sun. Premonitions.
The long-hanging shoe is WRT our major transform fault, which has been locked between Cajon Pass and Parkfield for decades, maybe all the way back to the late 19th century: nothing over 2.0 for the last umpteen years (and d*mned few of those). This week, two 3 (3.7, 3.5) in the same area, middle of the locked section, in a 24-hour period. (This is not a good sign. Something’s breaking loose.)
GSD, you are a one-person info-tsunami.
Any confirmation on the Turkish incursion into Kurdistan? All I see are denials.
Midnight snack anyone?

FWIW, you’re in very good company and the majority of your compatriots share such despair dear Betsy.
RonD @ 264
It appears the official stance(both US and Turkey) is that no incursion took place. The more likely case is that there was a limited incursion, not an invasion.

The Bee Feed was tested and found to have poisoned protein but there is no “proof” it is causing hive collapse. If this is true then how would you feel if you were a bee and your sugar water that they give you to keep from starving cause you are not allowed to actually stay and live anywhere and eat (you travel the countryside on flatbed trucks), contains either anti freeze, mellamime or acetametaphan. A Texas lab tested the pet food recently from one company and found the pain killer in it. The company has yet to notify the public that it’s pet food is contaminated. The Lab isn’t telling either…they say though that they have waited a month for the pet food company to fess up.

I’ve been popping in and out, all evening, slipping over to DKos to read the important piece on Malek, which I nominate for the best tidbit of the night (so far), as well as writing to my Congress critter about it. And getting handouts ready for our Progressive Democrats of Hawaii meeting tomorrow evening, and chasing down noteworthy tidbits like Official: Cheney Urged Wiretaps. So I know that by the time I finish reading the comments, most of you will be sawing logs in slumber land.
So this is kind of a driveby to wave hello to those who haven’t already signed off for the evening, before resuming my reading of the comments and getting ready to make lunch for tomorrow. Geez, maybe PW has already put up the late late show, and I’m already in EPU-ville.
See ya!

To paraphrase Reagan…negotiate but confirm.
Any testimony that Libby offers to ameliorate his guilt would have to be backed up by hard evidence. But also a jury would only believe Libby’s new version if it actually served to explain why he lied and obstructed in the first place.
I give you… the new T-Rex!!

Today’s WaPoo reports that CHENEY
And did the Poo put this on the front page? No, it was too busy covering vital items like prices for Nationals tickets, so it buried it on A3.

Sorry, I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting this to post, and now it won’t let me revise.
Here’s the text from the article:
One last time [I’ll forget about trying to block quote it][won’t seem to accept my lines between paragraphs either]:
“Vice President Cheney told Justice Department officials that he disagreed with their objections to a secret surveillance program during a high-level WH meeting in March 2004, a former senior Justice official told senators yesterday.
The meeting came one day before WH officials tried to get approval for the same program from then-Attorney General John D. Ashcroft [who was in the hospital, etc].”
