(Personally, I think all these letters from rich and powerful people will work against Libby’s interest, because showing “mercy” in this instance would only encourage behavior similar to Libby’s in the future by powerful people.)

Yes, and I think Fitz’s reference to personal station in society not being material is meant to highlight this. If all that it takes to get off on criminal behavior is to have your fellow powerful people say you should get off, that says something awful about what is supposed to be a country of laws.

The fact that big, rich important people like you is clearly not relevant, and to claim that it is would seem to me to be counterproductive.

Sentence does and should fall as an approriate sentence with what the guildelines provide for.

Wells saying Scooter was publicly humiliated and therefore should deserve probation rather than incarceration.

I’m having trouble seeing the ‘value-add’ of having somebody like Wells on the defense team.

And what would you call what has happenned to Plame and Wilson? What has happenned to National Security? Will we ever know?
