Offer a bill that will fully-fund the projected expense of redeploying our troops out of Iraq, but with no deadlines mentioned.

A rainy day redeployment fund. An “escrow” account in which money has been set aside for when the order is finally given to pull all of our troops out of Iraq.

Not tied to any day-to-day operational funding. To show our troops over in Iraq that Democrats have their backs covered. That more than enough funds stand ready to be tapped into to cover the cost of their hopefully safe and expedient departure from Iraq.

And after this troop “escrow” redeployment funding bill is offered for consideration and passage, then let’s see how Bush and the “rubber-stamp” Republicans respond.

It would be interesting to see how they’ll react to a bill that “supports the troops” by making certain that funds are available at some future unspecified date to pay for our troops’ extraction from the middle of a civil war waging in Iraq.

No strings attached. Just funding for this specific purpose only.

For Democrats: a win-win situation. While for the Republicans (and turncoats like Lieberman), anyone against such a simple “support the troops” measure will have to face an even more angry electorate.

“I don’t have Congressional representation. I’m from DC.“

Just reminding folks, we do have a disenfranchised half million US citizens in this country.

There are fair minded republican politicians that feel betrayed by the loss of their prestige, both in congress and around the world. They are revolting.

I find most modern-day republicans to be revolting.

Huh, if they were truly revolting they’d be in the streets with the rest of us who aren’t in the streets. ;-)

If we keep on with the “Democrats good, Republicans bad” approach, it will just continue to be a cover for Democrats to keep supporting the war. A strong third party challenge is the way to go.

If Clinton winds up being the Democratic nominee, the Democrats might very well finish third! I can’t see many people voting for her over good candidates from the Republicans and a truly progressive third party.

Abandon the Democrats, and something new will emerge. There are tens of millions of us ready to support real progressive leadership.

It looks like he wasn’t enough of team player to me.
