If Cornyn is your Senator, call and tell Cornyn’s office that you find his authorship of this bill repugnant and counter to our American ethos and our Constitution. That’s the best you can do, and at least he will hear from a constituent that this kind of crap is not acceptable.

A vote is expected in a few hours on Senator Cornyn’s amendment, #1184 and your help is needed to stop it. Please call your Senators right now and ask everyone you know to do the same.

Among other things, he wants to give the Attorney General the ability to block citizenship based on secret evidence that no one can see, no one can challenge, and no court can evaluate.

Call your Senators now and tell them: No more secret evidence against immigrants! Vote NO on Amdt #1184.

The Cornyn amendment would be a serious blow to immigration reform and due process. For more information on the amendment, click here. If it passes, it will:

* Derail millions of people from the path to legalization – killing a key component of the Senate’s overall compromise bill.
* Change the rules in the middle of the game by unfairly applying new punishments to past actions.
* Give the Attorney General unchecked power to use secret evidence to deny lawful permanent residents the dream of naturalization without requiring DHS to demonstrate that the person was convicted of any wrong-doing.
* Expand the number of immigration cases where people are subjected to mandatory detention and deportation – forcing judges to apply blanket policies with no power to judge.

What the hell is Bush doing with this missle shield in Europe?

It’s hard to get excited about what a travesty this is with all the other stuff going on, but this is ANOTHER example of a hugely expensive, highly controversal and largely ineffective project that greatly benefits a few chosen corporations.

Someone needs a huge infusion of cash. Bush seems determined to bankrupt this country to enrich his cronies. That’s the only thing that makes sense.

How much more money do these guys need to make? Did you know Cheney is still getting money from Halliburton? I guess when Rove said that they would have more money than God, he meant personally, not Republicanally.

Did anyone hear that critic of NASA the other day? He says NASA/Bush’s plan for a moon base as a stopping point for a mission to Mars has no basis in science and is only good for filling the pockets of a couple of corporations. This got overshadowed by the NASA chief’s mindblowing comment that doing something about Global Warming is an arrogant idea.
