I noticed that many of the candidates failed to actually answer some of the questions put to them. They either skirted around the issue, used the time to boast about some accomplishment totally unrelated to the question or ended up getting off on a completely different subject.

However, I was impressed with Hilary Clinton. She really listened to what was being asked, and answered every question directly and to-the-point. Bill Clinton had that ability also. It’s a great quality to possess if your going to lead a democracy.

The debate was won by Obama hands down. Edwards tried his best to be relevant, but he can’t overcome voting for this war. He didn’t even read the NIE. Hillary has been a supporter of this war for sometime and only when the political winds have become gale force has she decided to be against this blunder of a war. She is living of the crumbs of her husband’s presidency. The rest of the candidates brought some interesting points of view, but they lack “it”.

Re: civics class - I graduated HS in DC, class of ‘70. Needless to say, there was a lot happening then - MLK, RFK, Vietnam. Riots/marches/major differences of opinion. We had a very lively class, great teacher - Wayne Bloomberg - who kept te discussions going without letting on that one side or the other had a better arguement. It was probably my favorite class. ‘Course, it was DC…

Ugh. 13:15 lost on that wiener Wolfie?

Why can’t we see a debate format where the questions are given to the candidates and taped individually, they answer them, and they are played back for followup?

And with less input from bearded *ssholes.

Apropos of not much, or maybe Dems, Howie Klein is speaking to our Dem club in July. Not sure what he’ll talk about, but I’m sure it’ll be good.
