[Firefighter Ferret ornament available here. Too bad Giuliani's birthday was just this past Monday...just in case Swopa hasn't gotten Rudy a gift yet.]Oh dear. Looks like Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani is starting to get a little sweaty under his collar of self-serving braggadocio. The "little" people are pushing back.
From New York Newsday:
The day started at 8 a.m. on City Island, then moved to Douglaston and Bay Ridge before going to Staten Island. It was in Brooklyn that Giuliani ran into some families and firefighters who have pledged to protest outside his New York appearances to challenge his handling of Sept. 11. They accuse Giuliani of failing to fix radio problems and create an adequate emergency plan before the attacks.
"My only hope is that people know the truth," said Peter Gorman, president of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association.
Rudy had better get used to hearing the sound of angry, disillusioned firefighters who are tired of being used for his personal gain. And they'll be damned if they let him continue to snooker the American people with his "Hero of 9/11" horseshit. We can only hope for a showdown drawing near to determine who in America is actually more popular — our nation's firefighters, represented by the FDNY, or the man who had eight years' warning and still let them down and who has has said or done nothing to show that he'll protect them or anyone else in the future (unless he can profit from it and/or abrogate citizens' civil rights, of course).
In the Bronx, Giuliani also was confronted by a woman who identified herself as a relative of someone who died in attacks, who asked why people in the towers didn't get out before the collapse. "How do you sleep at night?" she said. Giuliani said nobody knew the towers would implode the way they did.
Oh, really? Well, you know what they say about "foolish" consistencies, hobgoblins, and small minds. Giuliani was a lot more certain on September 12, 2001, wasn't he. I mean, how else do you explain this statement, then?
That response contradicts remarks the former New York City mayor made about being warned about the collapse during a phone interview with onetime ABC anchor Peter Jennings on September 11, 2001, as shown in a transcript WNBC obtained from the Giuliani 2008 campaign.
Giuliani told Jennings, "I–I went down to the scene and we set up headquarters at 75 Barkley Street, which was right there with the police commissioner, the fire commissioner, the head of emergency management, and we were operating out of there when we were told that the World Trade Center was going to collapse.
(That is not an invitation to contemplate the myriad WTC conspiracy theories, btw.)
Yes, it's fairly obvious that social conservatives are willing to overlook Giuliani's shiftiness because he's a bully, and the only thing social conservatives love more than trashing human rights is a bully. I wonder, perhaps, if one of the reasons that Giuliani's slippery eel act hasn't gotten more traction with the general populace is that the voices coming out against his campaign have been issuing from the usual suspects — civil rights advocates, free speech proponents, New Yorkers — you know, crazy people. But now that the NYC firefighters are organizing to protest his campaign, perhaps all those people in "the heartland" who hold their cops and firemen so dear to their hearts may actually prick up an ear or two.
P.S. And really, when you've lost the Daily News sports page …
Rudy (I, Me) Giuliani takes credit for everything good that happened in New York while he was mayor, but now we're supposed to believe that he only had his big command center at 7 World Trade Center on Sept. 11 because he listened to other people.
Right.
P.P.S. Oh, now that's what I call a "quality endorsement"! Still trying to burnish his "tough on terrorism" tiara, Rudy got out the Bedazzler™ and jammed another Kerik-style rhinestone into the damned thing, getting the hearty thumbs-up from former F.B.I. Director Louis Freeh. Yes, the same Louis Freeh who was criticized by the 9/11 Commission for his rather . . . lackluster . . . approach to combatting terrorism after the 1993 bombing and who left the FBI in the summer of 2001. Well, I guess you go with the endorsements you have, not the endorsements you want.

Rudy better get used to a lot of things.
Rudy the G has connections to organized crime. Right Bernie!
Great post, watertiger — the IAFF is definitely not pleased with Rudy. And I say that as a (civilian) IAFF member.
LoudounLib @ 3
I really am hoping for a showdown. If any organization is qualified to show the world the real Giuliani, it’s the IAFF.
Amadou Diallo, Patrick Dorismond, Abner Louima…Are they getting heavy tied around your neck Rudy?
Rudy’s such a putz. He better hope people keep in the post 9-11 mindset, because before 9-11, he was an unpopular mayor who New Yorkers were more than ready to be rid of.
And I think his churlishness will cost him the nomination, if the gay rights/abortion rights/gun control/drag stuff doesn’t.
And Rudy pays his wife to be a wife? It’s in her contract. Mrs. G. must be seated next to her husband at all times during public appearances.
LoudounLib @ 4
Hmmm, will Ghouliani swiftboat NYFD and IAFF ?
Watertiger!
Nit – the para between the second and third block quotes – the “y” is missing from oh reall…
…and, now this: Cancer may be ‘third wave’ of WTC illnesses.
This one lands on Bush’s EPA. Heckuva job, Christie.
nit picked.
personally, I’m hoping rudy is the standard barer in ‘08 cuz he can’t win
it’s because of rudy the radios didn’t work after all…and really, is his base really going to ignore the fact that he’s an adolterating drag queen?
I kind of doubt it
Netanyahu is going to become the next PM of Israel soon. And this nut is going to engage Iran.
I’m no fan of Louis Freeh but he is a big supporter of Patrick Fitzgerald; so his judgment is not completely off.
Also, it’s FDNY, not NYFD. I’m not sure why, however.
I wonder why Guiliani held off against the warning from experts.
Sometimes, I feel that people in high positions grit their teeth and go against the odds, or against counsel, because they desperately hope they will succeed.
Even if you put aside all of Bush’s profiteering, and general corruption accusations, I can see Bush falling in this same category. People caution against the war, yet Bush, he wants to go against the odds. He’s betting on green.
This line-of-thinking that Guiliani made is not uncommon – To prove what others say is unproven. Maybe..Guiliani did not want the firefighters to leave, perhaps, because he wanted more people evacuated. Perhaps, he didn’t think the towers would fall, and thought that lives lost would end up on him because he ‘recklessly called back’ the firefighters and rescue teams.
This shows Guiliani’s trust in the police commissioner, the fire commissioner, and the head of emergency management. If he truely trusted and respected them, then he would have accepted their advice and enacted the appropriate actions. Instead, he ignored their advice.
Emergencies will prove leadership.
Watertiger!
the fireman ferret’s a scream
Mutant Poodle @ 11
I’ll never forgive her the lies she told about the air there.
Ah, yes, Louis Freeh — the guy who blew off direct Executive Orders from Bill Clinton (and thus allowed a Soviet spy to go undetected for a good seven extra years) in favor of ginning up bogus Fauxgates about Clinton and Gore.
SandraParker @ 15
jeez, I am tired. I have a freakin’ FDNY t-shirt and that one went right by me.
Phoenix Woman @ 19
that’s all he did at the FBI was go after Clinton. He, too, has blood on his hands for 9/11
I wonder, more specifically, who told Rudy the towers were going to fall. How did they know that? How long was it before they actually did fall?
Madness madness madness.
Questions questions questions.
“when we were told that the World Trade Center was going to collapse.”
All of it, one of it, North Tower, South Tower, WT7 ????
This is serious business folks. It’s a foregone conclusion that Bibi is coming to power in Israel soon. And he will send nuclear missiles and or bombs into Iran. What do you think this meeting between Bush and Olmert on June 19 in Washington is all about?
OKK, I don’t know if you saw my link a few threads back about British Professors considering a boycott of Israel for what has happened to the Palestinians. It was on MSNBC, but is no longer on the front page.
Sorry, watertiger, to be OT.
MarkH @ 22
It wouldn’t have taken a rocket scientist to figure out that it was a very real possibility.
I was standing on a hill in Brooklyn watching them burn with a lot of other people that day–and many people were saying (crying, actually) that it looked like they would fall. You could actually seem them kind of “bend” at the top. I personally thought that they would tip over and fall from the fire-line.
MarkH @ 22
Rudy is a serial liar – according to an old friend who is a prominent historian and lifelong NYer – Rudy has always been a liar and politically sociopathic. Let’s hope some of these stellar academics in NYC start cranking out streams of op eds here, there and everywhere.
SandraParker @ 15
True. But that’s just about the only good thing that can be said of him. Clinton appointed him in a good-faith offer of bipartisanship in the wake of the stench left by outgoing Bush appointee William Sessions, and Freeh repaid this by constantly backstabbing Clinton.
Well, it isn’t Rudy, but this about Mr. Bridge to Nowhere himself, Ted Stevens [from TPM Muckracker]:
The arrangement looks fairly questionable on its face. And it looks even more questionable when you take Veco’s track record into account. The person from Veco who hired Paone was Veco CEO Bill Allen. Allen happens to have just pled guilty this month to federal conspiracy and bribery charges for “giving things of value” to local lawmakers. In a court document accompanying his guilty plea, the Anchorage Daily News noticed a seemingly irrelevant description of what the company did not do while he was in charge: “Veco was not in the business of residential construction or remodeling.”
But did the house have teh toobz pre-installed?
I have no conspiracy theories. I have unanswered questions due to the lack of a credible investigation of what actually happened. I mean one with actual compelled testimony that left no stone unturned.
Until that happens the nation swims in bullshit.
Loo Hoo. @ 25
I saw it.
Mutant Poodle @ 29
But did the house have teh toobz pre-installed?
Sounds like a US Attorney investigation is long overdue – surely Fitz isn’t the only USA with a backbone and integrity.
(That is not an invitation to contemplate the myriad WTC conspiracy theories, btw.)
I would never so contemplate.
Did I keep a straight face?
dakine01 @ 6
This part of Rudy’s legacy is not getting enough play. When people get to know Rudy, they will reject him. But I’m torn. Hope for him to be destroyed now? Or let him get the nomination and destroy him then?
newspaperbrat @ 32
The Feds were investigating Veco and just tripped over Ted Stevens in the process…
solai @ 34
The sooner the better IMHO.
solai @ 34
I personally like the latter option. As Rudy has so much personal baggage that he makes Clinton look like a boy scout (there was a great series in the Village Voice about his family back when he was still mayor, which was excerpted from or later turned into a book).
I think the Rethugs know this, which is why all the frenzy about Thompson.
LS @ 23
Google for the physicists report on WTC7. Enough facts to sprout a lot of theories. There was a link to ProjectCensored in the comments some days ago, it was one of their top stories…
solai @ 34
I could go for a WWF debate between Rudy and McCain
Phoenix Woman @ 28
Along with Reno, the asinine ‘-gates’ kept a churning out!!! Hmmm… How many Subpoenas did the Clinton exec submit too??? How many have the Shrub Maladministration squashed/ignored???
jayt @ 33
you want to talk about conspiracy theories?
you really have to watch thispay special attention to the bit regarding old old nazi enthusiast presott bush…incredible stuff here
that is the best jfk video I have seen to date, you must watch that
I got that link from a poster downstairs on one of the threads and I don’t know who to credit
The view here is that Rudy and the rest of the Republicans would bomb Iran, or use Israel to do it.
I view Hillary Clinton as a hawk. And Rudy too.
Mutant Poodle @ 35
it’s a cryin’ shame, ain’t it.
I love the part where they built the second level under the house
Elliott @ 17
Good thing there’s always Christmas.
Or one of the debates in Iowa or New Hampshire.
Spiritcatcher @ 38
Actually, I was just contemplating that quote in the post by Giuliani. He said “the” World Trade Center was going to collapse, instead of referring to one of the buildings that made up the WTC. Does that make sense?
Swopa @ 45
I dare ya.
Swopa @ 44
hell, I’d watch a WWF debate between Rudy and Ferret (has to be dressed in a FDNY uniform, though)
Phoenix Woman @ 19
Opus Dei anyone??
There’s another story about Rudy, but I don’t know if it was true or gossip. He supposedly brought his girlfriend back to Gracie Mansion for the night while his wife was sleeping in one of the other bedrooms. New Yorkers, is that true?
james @ 47
which takes us right up the steps to SCOTUS
Think about it people…The second building that was struck by a plane, was the first to implode. One can plainly see that when the second plane hit, most of the jet fuel exploded outside the building. For the buildings to have fallen as they did(within its footprint), there would have to be uniform rates of burning and melting spread amongst numerous floors.
Also, the speed of the collapse does not seem to take into account the massive amounts of resistance that over 50 untouched floors would offer to a collapse. I simply do not believe that all of those untouched and undamaged floors below where the planes hit did not offer more than a fraction of a second worth of resistance and even more so at the very beginning of the collapse.
Also one must take into account how the debris was so easily pulverized into powder at the very beginning stages of the collapse. I would think that pulverizing cement would take lots of force.
All the evidence points to controlled demolition. And maybe it’s not so crazy. Maybe after the ‘93 attack on the WTC they decided to wire up the towers so that if it was ever attacked again and there was a chance that the building would topple over, they would have the opportunity to take it down in it’s own footprint by controlled demolition. Wouldn’t that be sort of smart? Or should I take my tin foil hat off now?
solai @ 49
So the legend has it. Donna Hanover obtained a restraining order keeping Ms. Nathan out of Gracie Mansion, IIRC.
james @ 48
Louis Freeh is opus dei?!!!! Well, that explains him somewhat. I wonder if he the FBI spy-guy (having an early onset senior moment and can’t remember his name)– as it is likely a very small little netwrok in DC? And isn’t Novukula opus dei too?
Elliott @ 18
Elliott, before midnight (LA time) 9/11 Dr. Gary Greenberg’s Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) discussion list was full of very learned, expert assessments of expected pulmonary consequnces of the WTC dust.
No way that didn’t go to the occ med folks in NYC and DC.
The lung injuries expected then and happening now were very well described and anticipated.
Whitman is a ghoul.
Separated at Birth?
Oklahoma kiddo @ 24
I’m more concerned with Bush’s meeting with Putin in Maine coming up.
Aside from the increased bellicosity in the war of words between our two nations lately, there is a serious movement here to give Putin an unconstitutional third term when his term expires next year. That would coincide with our election cycle and I’m wondering….maybe a little pre-coup planning between the boys?
dave @ 54
LOL
solai @ 50
Where his children slept and his wife played with her toys! Yes that happened. But around that time she starred in an off broadway play called “The Wazoo Chronicles” or some such…
And might I add – Giuliani for Fuehrer!
watertiger @ 51
This is not a legend. It is absolutely true. Rudy argued in court that he needed “his good friend” Judy to take care of him while he was going through chemo for his prostate cancer–because Hanover was too mean and nasty (they weren’t exactly on speaking terms since he had announced his intent to divorce her via a press conference.
But it gets better. The judge ruled in favor of the wife–and so he moved in with a gay couple somewhere on the Upper East Side.
Bernard “Rudy’s BFF” Kerik on Sept. 28, 2003:
Baghdad City Cop. We beat crime in New York. We can do it in Baghdad.
That was after he had trashed the place.
Rudy, you are the weakest link.
Here’s the thing. Rudy’s a lowlife. And people are going to figure that out.
kirk murphy @ 53
I know! then she tried to excuse her way out of it.
I didn’t know about Dr. Gary Greenberg’s Occupational and Environmental Medicine, wow.
And now there’s a rise in blood cancers, too.
OT, but I can’t help but notice the PR push orchestrated by the Libby defense team and “friends.” The list includes former gov’t officials and military including a former Joint Chief of staff. After this criminal regime is brought to justice there really needs to be a purge in government and military circles to be rid of these anti-democratic authoritarians for once and for all.
solai @ 61
And so is his wife.
Another good Nathan story. He was still married and living in Gracie mansion. Before the divorce press conference, but the tabloids were buzzing with gossip about the affair. It was so blatant–he went everywhere with her.
So they are marching in the big St Paddy’s Day Parade down 5th Ave. Before his entourage gets to St Patrick’s Cathedral (where the big Cardinal–forget his name was standing out front blessing everyone) he has Nathan pulled out of the parade. She rejoins him a few blocks past St Patrick’s. The tabloids had a field day with that one.
solai @ 63
Don’t be so sure. Do you really trust the MSM to expose Rudy for the fraud he is?
Woodhall Hollow @59,
and let’s not forget Giuliani’s dalliances in his office with Cristyne Lategano.
Woodhall Hollow @ 66
Isn’t Egan still the Cardinal of NYC?
solai @ 34
If you eliminate the undesirable candidates from election possibilties early, then you remove their talking points from further debates.
Let’s act on this, and if you are really for the American troops to come home, not support -any- fence sitting candidates. Hillary, Barack, take a hike.
And also, the more we beat up on ‘Status quo’ republican candidates, the less the right will see in them – hopefully, swaying them toward platforms which will be mutually better.
watertiger @ 66
That’s right–who was at the Freeh event today, it seems with her husband. When he dumped her, she was appointed to head the NYC Tourism board (a patronage deal if there ever was one) — which came with quite a hefty salary iirc.
watertiger @ 68
You’re so right, WT. And that affair directly involved public funds.
F*ck f*ckin’ Giuliani…On to the Convention!
dave @ 60
Subtle
;>)
SandraParker @ 70
Right–she was his personal assistant and was on the NYC payroll.
If he’s a serial cheater, he’s a serial liar. He is a man with no integrity just based on that.
LS @ 75
You can shorten that by just saying “he’s a Bush Republic”.
Richard J. Sheirer was the director of OEM, which was in World Trade Center 7. He is now (Senior Vice President), with Giuliani Partners.
The OEM was located in “hardened” offices on the 23rd floor, specially built and designed to withstand attacks, but almost everything about Building 7 has stayed secret. One thing we know is that Sheirer cut and ran, and abandoned the undamaged WTC 7. Sheirer ordered WTC 7 abandoned before the first, South tower collapsed. His own testimony (pdf) only confuses the timeline.
The time after the North Tower was hit 8:46 AM seems critical. Apparently, the undamaged WTC 7 was being evacuated before the South Tower was hit at 9:03 AM. But in this time interval, occupants of the South Tower were told not to evacuate because their building was secure. When the South Tower was hit, Sheirer and OEM abandoned WTC 7 before any real threat had even been verified, because of a “possible third plane”. This was about an hour before the South Tower collapsed at 10:05 AM. The North Tower was struck first but was not taken down until 10:29 AM. Appearing on ABC, later in the day, Giuliani says he was warned by OEM, that WTC 2, the South Tower, would collapse, about ten minutes before it actually did. “we were told that the World Trade Center was gonna collapse.” Sheirer did not include this warning in his recollection of events.
It should be repeated that those in the South Tower were told to return to their offices after the North Tower was struck. It is not known who authorized these directions given over the intercoms. It is thought that hundreds of people followed these instructions and they were killed. No one has taken responsibility, and this remains another mystery.
There were warnings that World Trace Center 7 would collapse before it actually occurred at 520 pm.
The BBC predicted the collapse of WTC 7 twenty minutes before it happened.
LS @ 73
Eggzactly. Which is why it would be a great thing if he won the rethug nomination, as there is no way he could win in a national election. The dirt is so — how shall we say it — salacious, that there is no way that the tv tabloids are going to stay away from it. He is not any more sane than Bush is, btw, which is likely why he thinks he can run and win in spite of his past.
Woodhall Hollow @ 54
Robert Hanson, FBI traitor, Opus Dei
Woodhall Hollow @ 71
Someone last thread or the one before that posted a notice of the attendees at the Freeh thing and I noticed Lategano’s name. I highlighted it and then wondered what Judy and Lategano’s husband thought of all this…
Oh, yeah, however could Rudy-toot-toot know the buildings would fall?
My FDNY father (who was onsite at the ‘93 bombing) called the time and order of the collapse from watching TV the morning of 9/11.
I’m just glad he had retired before 2001 because everyone he worked with died that day.
Catherine D. @ 79
Now, that is very interesting. It did seem from watching them pretty clear that they would go down. I sure felt they would…not that I have any kind of expertise in that area.
I am glad for you that your father is ok, though it must still be very hard on him.
OT – Billy the Kid moving from Gator land to Orlando Magic.
Now lets see. The Republicans say they hate Hollywood, but they run guys like Fred, Arnie and Ronnie?
SandraParker @ 72
While the cops who worked for me were working ungodly amounts of overtime to make ends meet because Rudy never negotiated in good faith with mere civil service scum. Meanwhile they saw Lategano getting raises one after the other (kinda like Wolfie’s gal pal) and they were seething.
Couple this with Rudy’s early days as a USA when he entrapped cops by wiring guys and sending them out to get other cops to talk about getting free coffee, free sandwiches, nothing like the later things revealed about the 30 where cops were actually stealing drugs and, in one instance, shooting a drug dealer in the stomach to rob him.
Every civil service worker will line up against Rudy unless they were recipients of his largesse.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 24
I’ll bet Elliot Abrams is involved. Remember him from Iran-Contra? He’s now on staff over at the WH.
Bob in HI
MSM has decided what their narrative will be wrt Rudy’s encounters with firefighters and other critics. Today after they showed a clip on one of the shows (maybe Tweety?) the pundit said something like:
“What that proves is how well Rudy is able to handle the kind of confrontations he’s going to face on the campaign trail.”
MSM trying to shape the CW about Rudy already – he’s a tough guy, able to slay all those unpatriotic whiners with a smile and a single blow. What a guy!
this is a great article and I agree it should not be an invitation to discuss conspiracy theories.
Or at least I did agree until I noticed the firefighter ferret was actually a hologram reading my mind.
Catherine D. @ 81
OMG, Catherine. You and your dad and family were so lucky. Must mean good things will come.
Woodhall Hollow @ 76
Here in TX, I know some Bush supporters who now are all gung-ho for Giuliani, because they perceive him as really tough and macho. I think they would feel safer if they lived in a complete police state, and Rudy would take it the rest of the way there. If Rudy gets elected…well, I can’t even imagine it – kind of Felini Satyricon meets Mussolini.
BTW, I’ll have you all know how pleased I was to actually find a firefighter ferret.
I need to turn in – have to get up early to get vaccines for my trip to the other side of the world at the end of June.
Be good to each other.
Reading all these comments just reinforces my original reaction to Rudy running. This guy is not fit to be The President Of The United States Of America.
People accuse us of not having respect for the office. I have great respect and I want someone worthy to be elected to that office.
Thanks, Watertiger.
Spokoi nochi.
Sleep well, watertiger. And thanks.
rudy has already picked his running mate:
guliani/diebold 08!
Don’t let the bedbugs bite Watertiger!
Catherine D. @ 79
I remember watching and we all turned to each other and said that we thought they would collapse. You could just sort of feel it. I’m sorry for your father having lost his co-workers.
LS @ 90
One reason why Hitler came to power is because the Nazi played on the fears of the people. Fear is the Republicans only weapon. Of course they would feel safer because deep down they are anti-democratic authoritarians.
But, but…the GOPers planning to nominate Rude E is a conspiracy.
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 95
That’s what keeps me awake at night.
Sleep well, watertiger.
Thanks for your work!
Good night WT. Thanks for the great post.
Mabel’s Wig Shack @ 95
Spooky!!! Paper optical reading machines satisfies all sides of the debate!!!
Bluetoe @ 98
these both statements are true…the wing nuts actually want a police state, they actually think that’s a good thing, they actually think the constitution is an obsolete document
and as for nazisim, this entire regime is nazi base, they are fascists trying to get corporations to run government facilities and government services, they are fascists trying to reduce pesonal rights, human rights, labor rights, education rights, retirement rights
they are based in naziism, their foundation
the very “patriot act” is a document that is clearly plaguerized from hitler’s “the enabling act”…and prescott bush himself supported nazism
this is scary stuff boys and girls
Frank33 @ 77
Who gave the orders? Enquiring minds want to know.
I wonder how the BBC would know that? Seems the 9/11 Commission should’ve looked into it and reported that.
OT- Don’t know if this has already been noted upthread, but EW has a post up @ NH on Team Libby’s sentencing memorandum. Do not read the memorandum itself while trying to eat. It’s heave-worthy:
I Present to You: St. Libby
Blackwell did a no-no!!
I live in the backwoods of British Columbia and the feelings of the FDNY toward Rudy have been clear to me for months if not years. But considering the lack of concern the Republican base has for the abuse the Codpiece w/o a brain has shown for the military he was too chicken to really participate in, they may not care what the firefighters think either. I think he and the man who pretends to be Preznit (Shooter’s beard as it were) would only really have a chance to be truly considered “heroes of 9/11″ if they had prevented it from happening, maybe. Of course then the PNAC wouldn’t have had their “Pearl Harbor Event.” Rudy and the Commander in Dressup with a bullhorn on the rubble pile remind me of the bit in Braveheart about the rooster strutting and crowing on a dungheap.
As to:
The biggest conspiracy theory about 9/11 is what is considered the “official version.” Almost every alternate explanation is more reasonable and more likely.
newspaperbrat@27 sez:
That’s why he is a Repukelican! I thought those were the required qualities to rise to the top of the Republican Party, since Nixon at least. That’s why Ron Paul is such a misfit, especially being a ReThug from Texas. Unfortunately for Rudy the cult member Mitt is a much slicker liar with better hair and Fred “I play a DA on TV” Thompson looks more presidential on TV.
Considering how successful Kermit the Governator and that Republican icon Ronnie Raygun were/are for the Goopers, compared to this crew – the Republican nomination may soon also require a SAG card as well as sociopathy and the ability to lie effortlessly.
Apologizing for the EPU post from the last thread
First, on a technical note, if it is our destiny, then it is by definition inescapeable.
Second, I differ with apparently everybody else about the Democrat caving last week. If they did not, then every day’s news would have a story about another GI killed due to a lack of money for body armor or radio batteries or helicopter parts. Bush cares that little about the troops that he would sacrifice them to score points against the Dems.
You cannot put any perfidy past this dishonorable man. Cutting off funding will not stop him.
Rudy’s a shit head- and probably the best of the assholes running for the gooper nomination. Sad.
Ok. Lets talk about #7. Damn I hate doin this. For some reason having to do with the fire in #7 Silverstein decided to “PULL IT”. It is no secret that #7 was intentionally brought down. The question that hasn’t been answered is WHY?
Structurally speaking, there doesn’t appear to be a reason to intentionally bring the building down. I hope this puts the question in its proper frame.

Bush ran and won (well kinda not really – let’s just say “became Pretend President”) in spite of his past of lackluster academics, desertion, drinking, drugs, business failures and convictions while married to a woman who killed his predecessor in her heart/pants.
I always liked the pic of Bush “serving” during Vietnam. He’s in a TANG uniform operating (probably clumsily) a beer tap.
Suzanne @ 111
Welcome Suzanne!
No US Attorney can undertake an investigation on his own. He has to get permission. And that permission comes from the Justice Department. And look at what we have seen about the Justice Department.
Stand at the entrance to the Rector Street Station on the Red Line and look toward the place where the towers were. You can clearly see the building that’s disputed by the insurance companies that has yet to be torn down. Forget the name…
The World Financial Center and the surrounding housing was left largely in tact after the towers fell. The Burger King directly across the street was almost untouched…
What was so wrong with #7 that Silverstein decided to “PULL IT.” That’s where Il Douche’s bunker was.
OK – according to the Moonie Times, the RNC has fired 65 telephone solicitors.
The national committee yesterday confirmed the firings that took place more than a week ago, but denied that the move was motivated by declining donor response to phone solicitations.
“The phone-bank employees were terminated,” RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt wrote by e-mail in response to questions sent by The Times. “This was not an easy decision. The first and primary motivating factor was the state of the phone bank technology, which was outdated and difficult to maintain. The RNC was advised that we would soon need an entire new system to remain viable.”
[snip]
he RNC spokeswoman denied that the committee has seen any drop-off in contributions.
“Any assertion that overall donations have gone down is patently false,” Miss Schmitt said. “We continue to out raise our Democrat counterpart by a substantive amount (nearly double).”
And no, it’s not the stunningly hot and decidedly un-Republican Anne Hathaway.
Heh, Suzanne, your radar is so cool. Is it implanted or genetic? Love you, girlscout!
camp fire girl, loohoo :)
MP 124, I find this an interesting choice of words coming from the RNC right now:
“The first and primary motivating factor was the state of the phone bank technology, which was outdated and difficult to maintain. The RNC was advised that we would soon need an entire new system to remain viable.”

Is it ferret-sized or is it firefighter-sized? What a great costume, like the chickens that follow our mayor around to his Fake Question Time townhalls.
From the fired RNC phonebankers:
Faced with an estimated 40 percent fall-off in small-donor contributions… Anne Hathaway, the committee’s chief of staff, summoned the solicitations staff last week and told them they were out of work, effective immediately, the fired staffers told The Times.
From Anne Hathaway:
“Any assertion that overall donations have gone down is patently false,” Miss Schmitt said. “We continue to out raise our Democrat counterpart by a substantive amount (nearly double).”
They don’t want folk to find out that donations are down by 40%.

That remodel sound like they’d been reading The Complete Book of Pitfalls (Williamson) on adding a second floor: ‘remove roof and set aside’.
(Although the book is essays, most of them very funny, there’s real advice in it. Like (not word for word):
White wires connect to white wires, black wires connect to black wires. White wires connect to chrome terminals, black wires connect to brass terminals. The key to electrical work is segregation. Try to integrate and it’s ‘burn, baby, burn!’)

This is a timeline that I would like veracified…is that all right? If so, and even if not, what the F%$#? Hello? Any sentient beings out there? Is this just beyond people ability to touch the reality stone?
Back on Rudy & The Firefighters (wotta band!):
How come Giulianni isn’t included on Kurtzman’s hitlist of supposed joke candidates with “zero chance” of winning?
For some time now I have been commenting on every lefty blog that we should lay off of Rudy until he is nominated, at which time it would be easy to point out why this man is totally unqualified to be president. But now I am beginning to wonder if we can wait that long. I saw on CNN an appearance by Rudy at a factory in New Hampshire. He was impressive — mostly because he is not constrained by a conscience that inhibits lying. (E.g. “The Democrats will raise your taxes anywhere from 30-40%”) Then I saw a focus group on C-Span where they talked about the top tier candidates. The thing that scared me is that the obvious conservative Republicans were completely willing to overlook Giuliani’s positions on abortion, gun rights, gay rights, because they perceive that he is tough.
Friends, there is no place for complacency. Dems can lose in 2008. Hillary is the favored candidate and a huge number of people say they will refuse to vote for her under any circumstances. Prejudice against Obama may not reveal itself when people are polled by phone, but in the secrecy of the polling booth, who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
And then there is the mechanics of election fraud. The Republicans stole the last two elections, and I have yet to hear a convincing reason to think they are not planning to steal the next. Everything that has come out of the US Attorney’s scandal tells me that is what they are planning.
Do not underestimate the appeal of a strong authoritarian figure to people who are afraid. Neither should anyone underestimate the power of Republicans to incite fear.

I too was looking over the hill at the towers *albiet in LIC, Queens that morning. * At 9:30 am my co-workers and I were sadly remembering that the towers were only built to withstand being hit by a 727. We didn’t think the 747s were around then… We knew … Rudy knew.

The BBC did not “predict” the collapse of the spook house WTC 7 (DIA, CIA, FBI) they reported it as already having collapsed with the damned building standing there in the background. Then, moments before this 47 story steel building that did not get hit by any planes collapsed in its own footprint, the feed mysteriously was lost while the reporter in NYC talked to the BBC anchorman. Youtube wtc 7 & BBC. Theorize all you want.

#7 also contained other government offices, eg. of the IRS. That’s where large amounts of the materials on the ongoing Enron investigation were stored.
Rudy Giuliani is my name; 9/11 profiteering is my game
Firefighter ferret is brilliant.
Why does 9/11 evoke such strong emotions and division amongst Americans? There’s half of the population that only saw death and destruction on US soil and demanded revenge/ One belief of George Bush’s blind
visionambition of the distorted “an eye for an eye” warmonger song. And then there’s the other America that saw 9/11 with open eyes and saw buildings fall straight down in what appeared as a controlled demolition. Innocent lives that were sacrificed for someone’s ideology of ‘the greater good.’ All I know is that what the government has forced onto us as facts has never added up. And in the end there is one question that I keep asking; who has benefited with excessive political power and financial wealth from the destruction of the WTC and the subsequent wars? Who are these power brokers? Who are these false gods that have dressed themselves as saviors of our land as they skulk in dark corners acquiring unprecedented wealth and power in the wake of death, chaos, and war?Left, right, Democrats, Republicans…. we’ve been snookered by 911. And yet we natter on as if politics matters.
The truth matters. We all need to get our thinking opened to the idea that the official government supplied 911 story is scientifically fraudulent.
Wake up people, our character is determined not by the cleverness in our thinking and writing, but by our critical analysis of the stories we chose to believe to get us through the day.
Less cleverness, please, and more wisdom.
This site is becoming more and more a whining ground for the powerless who have no plan to overcome the Bushes and their ilk.
I probably shouldn’t be feeding the 9-11 Denier trolls. But I just wanted to point out that the vast majority of statements they claim as fact are: 1)Completely erroneous and 2)Were fabricated by a couple of neo-Nazis, Eric Hufstedt and Christopher Bollyn. For example, Bollyn fabricated claims that Bldg. 7’s owner, Silverstein, ordered the building to be destroyed and made money from the insurance. Why did Bollyn made up this nonsense: because Silverstein is Jewish.
adkay @ 146
More nattering…again, the official story is scientifically fraudulent. Read the research papers at ae911truth.org and stj911.org
Eric Hufschmidt (not Hufstedt, so much for accuracy) is a known anti semite. His beliefs do not alter the sciience of 911. You mention 2 people who don’t pass the smell test; how about David Ray Griffin, retired religion professor and author of “Debunking 911 Debunking” a systematic dismantling of Popular Mechanics defense of the the official 911 story.
Time to do some deeper research, Adkay, and remember, our opinions come second to the science of the matter.
