I am interested to hear what Gov Richardson has to say. He strikes me as much more actually actual than many purported candidate…New Mexico isn’t a state that is much of a launching pad for the Presidency, but today it is a real relevant place what with the immigration debates, Domenici/Iglesias and voter suppression all being prime N.M. topics.

i’m in, and of, new mexico. richardson won here the last time with close to 70%–but that was mainly due to a complete collapse of the gop’s effort to field a plausible candidate; their selection–an old-time, old-line family fixer, whom i’ve known since i was a kid–always came across as and afterthought.

to me, his biggest problem–apart from a quiet buzz that he’s a psychological spousal abuser–is that he’s a from an old-time, pri, latifundia family in mexico: he’s an aristocrat to his toes, though he has mastered the vato/vecino mannerisms. he kinda carpet-bagged his way into new mexico politics…

Richardson bombed-BIGTIME

I watched This Week with Stephanopoulis and was not only irritated but also incensed. The euphemsitic way to refer to illegals is to call them ‘undocumented workers’. A poor working class, Gutierrez said, is needed in America to do the jobs Americans won’t! That implies to me a slave class. What is wrong with this picture?

Injustice permeates the Bush, Blair and Howard world:

Howard jeered at Aborigine ceremony

Aborigines are Australia’s most
disadvantaged group [AFP]

John Howard, Australia’s prime minister, has been heckled as he acknowledged that some of Australia’s Aborigines still live on the fringes of society 40 years after a vote recognising them as full citizens.

An indigenous woman shouted at Howard after a speech on Sunday: “We have been genocided by your government and your court.”

The outburst was greeted with loud applause by the audience of about 400 people at the ceremony in Canberra to mark the 1967 referendum.

Kingsolver made me cry. What a story. I have read also Jane Goodalls book Harvest for Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating
This one will make you question what you eat and want to change.
