I realize that the peice is very depressing. It is depressing. Not one person approved of what was happening and for many it was the stuff of tragedy.

I think we need a DOJ that’s FOOLproof, NOT one that needs enough integrity in it’s leaders, since leaders in our country seem to have a problem with integrity and conflicts of interest… because Corporations have more $$power$$ than We The People.

There are some anger management issues here. But there is no evidence that Riza has ever done anything…other than “Iraqi Reconstruction”.

Wolfowitz is now implying that Riza is to blame for the whole mess with her implacable demands.

The ethics committee members “did not want to deal with a very angry Ms. Riza, whose career was being damaged as a result of their decision” Wolfowitz wrote in his response to the committee report. “It would only be human nature for them to want to steer clear of her.”

Wolfowitz, again describing Riza as “extremely angry and upset” blamed her for an “intractable position” regarding her salary and job, saying he was forced to grant her a promotion and increase because she was threatening a lawsuit

It is encouraging to hear that everyone on this panel “gets it.” One of the things that I have found so frustrating about the coverage of this scandal in the media is the apparent assumption that injecting politics into the DOJ is no big deal. As a lawyer, I recognized the seriousness of it immediately and was really surprised and disappointed by the frequent “they didn’t do anything illegal or wrong” take on this. Sometimes, I feel like the entire citizenry of this country needs a course in civics, starting with the media of course!

I suspect a good deal of the citizenry does get it, but the media is trying to disabuse us of our “quaint” notions.

That’s okay – I think Feingold is hot. Of course, he has principles and integrity which is part of the attraction. I realize that sorta stuff just doesn’t matter to men. ;)
