No matter how much he tries to pretend he’s Not Like Bush, the governor of the North Star State, Minnesota’s own Smilin’ Tim Pawlenty, just can’t stop showing how much he emulates Mister Twenty-Eight Percent: Razor-thin "mandate", wins by catering to bigots (this is a direct quote: "Now I know I may not be in some of your wildest dreams but I can tell you what your worst nightmare is," Pawlenty told delegates at the Republican party's state convention. "It's one of the big spendin', tax raisin', abortion promotin', gay marriage embracin', more-welfare-without-accountability lovin', school-reform resistin', illegal-immigration supportin' Democrats for governor who think Hillary Clinton should be president of the United States."), suddenly forced to deal with Democratic control of both legislative bodies after the public voted out a sizable number of Republicans last November, vetoing legislation favored by most of the public — you know, stuff like that.
But Bush will have to take a temporary back seat in Tim's affections — or maybe they'll just all pile into the back seat together — as another BFF of Bush's, John McCain, now has pride of place in Pawlenty's dreams of higher office. He thinks McCain will be president, and that he, Smilin' Tim Pawlenty, will be McCain's vice president. It's as simple as that, and it's got right-wing blogs like Real Clear Politics all atwitter. Non-righty blogs have taken notice as well.
How much does Smilin' Tim like John McCain? Enough to put Minnesota's future in grave risk just to burnish his credentials with the lizard brains GOP primary voters they both need to succeed in their quest for the McCain-Pawlenty ticket. Those GOP primary voters sure love their tax cuts and sure hate seeing their tax money go to people with darker skins than theirs. But then again, like pretty much all "modern" Republicans in Minnesota, Pawlenty doesn't take a breath without running it past arch-nutball David Strom and his (Rich) Taxpayers League: Placating the greedy rich and the antigay white-flight megachurchers is a lot more important than shuttered schools and decaying roads and a tax burden shifted from the rich onto the poor and middle class in finest "great risk shift" fashion.
And it isn't as if Pawlenty hasn't pulled off similar stunts in the past. Back when he was in the Minnesota House and running for governor, he rammed through huge tax cuts — then when in office as governor tried to pretend that it was spending, not his tax cuts, that had driven the state deep into debt.
Charming guy, eh? And he's now John McCain's snugglebunny.

Hi Phoenix Woman!
Can you just imagine President McCain?
I’m not sure I can deal with the image of snuggle bunnies associated with these a**hats. The thought is quite revolting to say the least.
Good ‘n Pawlenty rots your teeth.
What’s the photo, PW? Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dummer?
woah, can’t believe i made it so early in the thread…
admittedly way off topic, but for those of you who missed it a couple days ago, i’m holding a “pick an alternative hillary’s campaign song contest” and the winner gets a skippy the bush kangaroo tee shirt!
If Pawlenty is McCain’s new snugglebunny, does that leave poor widdle georgie having to snuggle with hojoe?
Loo Hoo. @ 6
Nah, Just Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dumber and Tweedle Dumbest . Just don’t ask me which is which as they all three resemble all of the above…
Oklahoma kiddo @ 3
Only in my worst nightmares.
Of course, if he keeps showing his true colors like he did today, he’s gonna have a harder time winning the hearts and minds of America’s voters. Apparently, he dropped the F-bomb on a fellow conservative Republican senator John Cornyn, who chided McCain for not being around to cast key Senate votes but was willing to show up for the photo ops for said bills.
McCain has always had a temper problem. He tries to hide it and seem like a nice guy, but it is an act (just like his “I’m a moderate and a maverick” act). I’m sure Phoenix Woman knows this well – I spent a few years in AZ and I saw the nasty side of McCain many times. He’s a shrill, ill-tempered, mean little man. I would not want to see him gain any more power than he currently has. I still think he’s got the best chance of getting the nomination, but his mean streak will make him very difficult to elect.
Suzanne @ 8
Hey, they can all snuggle together and give each other reach arounds in their mutually reinforcing circle jerks.
Who says fascism isn’t here?
US government trying to seize new Michael Moore film, says producer
The film has already caused Moore – who won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2004 with Fahrenheit 911 – to clash with the American authorities. Now, according to movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company is behind the film, the US government is attempting to impound the negative.
According to Weinstein, the US Treasury’s moves meant “we had to fly the movie to another country”- he would not say to where. “Let the secret service find that out – though this is the same country that thought there were weapons of mass destruction, so they’ll never find it.” He added that he feared that if the film were impounded, there might be attempts to cut some footage, in particular the last 20 minutes, which related to a trip to Cuba. This, said Weinstein, “would not be good.”

Hey that Good and Plenty was posted on Aug 17, 2006…I was just looking at this…Note the date!
Hi Phoenix Woman!
I’m on broadband here, but the picture is not fully loading for me. Same thing on Lew’s thread. Anyone else having problems?
LL, it is loading fine here on a PC with Firefox. Have you tried cleaning your cache?
Am I getting this straight? McCain turned down an offer by North Vietnam for release from a POW camp in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and elected instead to spend five more years as a captive.
Suzanne @ 8
Yecchh. He’s welcome to it.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 17
I’m not sure of the time frames but if I recall l my readings corrrectly, the offer was made once the North Vietnamese realized his father was (I believe) CNO.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 12
Oh! Can’t wait to see the movie, OKK. I’ll bet they did get better healthcare in Cuba than in the USofA.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 3
Can you just imagine President McCain?
Haven’t we already had one senile Repub president? – that’s enough I think. And GWB’s just plain batshit insane. Only GWHB didn’t fit the mold – he was simply a common criminal. So if McCain got elected, the last Repub presidents would be:
Senile
Criminal
Bat-shit insane
Senile.
Republican family values seem to include psychological defects.
Suzanne, just cleaned the cache, exited and re-entered my browser, same thing. Weird!
LoudonLib – the pic in this one looks fine, but I only got the top section of the pic in lew’s thread. I was guessing it was another IE 7 “feature”.
Off-topic, but I thought this might be of interest:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6667313.stm
LL, ok, then the next step is to try to reset your browser. Exit Firefox (or whatever you are using) and then reload it. See if that helps. As far as I know, it is just you with the complaint (so far).
If you don’t like the idea of President McCain, then how about President Rudy the G.?
landofthefree @ 23
Thanks — good ol’ IE 7! ;-)
Oklahoma kiddo @ 26
If you don’t like the idea of President McCain, then how about President Rudy the G.?
Well, it would change the math to two psychologically impaired – two criminal.
Nice balance.
Rudy Giuliani. The GOP front runner for prez. A real family values type guy.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 26
You mean this guy?
http://www.motherjones.com/com…..ssagetoyou
I quit using IE and switched over to Firefox and have had far fewer problems.
Suzanne, I’ve never witnessed a cannonball into the lake.
Hi PW! Calling from Minnetonka! I am furioso at Pawlenty – have been since he sqeaked through being elected without a majority – and we Minnesotans put all Dems in the legislature! His money came from out of state – we the people put Dems in MN by working in the campaigns, giving our little bits we had – and we won! Now this bastard is acting like Bush – a king anointed.
Thanks for all you do! How can we change things here in MN this weekend? He has his poison pen out to veto schools, highways and roads. etc.
Mumble mumble scream!!!!
Loo Hoo, stick around for Late Nite. I’ll do one with a huge splash :)
I am a fellow Minnesotan held hostage by Tim Pawlenty. What sickens me is that there are so many that don’t seem to notice that he is gutting our state. I never thought it could happen here.
Now I know, I just know, you all wouldn’t think the Republicans would steal the 2008 election… for the good of the country.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 26
They’ve both managed SO FAR to avoid displaying their mighty mighty tempers on camera for the masses. but I have some small measure of faith that both will do so at som extremely inappropriate time prior to the elections. I just don’t think either can handle prosperity in any form.
This governor sounds like a real winner. He is a fool if he is kissing anyone’s butt so early in the race. But he does sound like a fool… .
LoudounLib @ 21
Me too. I have IE7. Do You?
punaise on the last thread: I’m tempted to notify the CA-EPA regarding your bringing that noxious stuff from watertiger’s and getting it in the lake. How could you? :-)
Oklahoma kiddo @ 36
Now I know, I just know, you all wouldn’t think the Republicans would steal the 2008 election… for the good of the country.
Nah, it’s gettin’ to be hard work stealin’ elections. Now they might be tempted to *delay* the next election for a decade or two….
landofthefree @ 23
Exactly the same for me. IE 7 Vista, cleared cache, etc. No change…
Recall possible? If he’s pissed enough people off this early on and with a dem state legislature…any chance at all? I was born in Roseau and lived in Minnesota till I was a teenager.
Backstage tech crew has tried it with various browsers, including IE7, and are able to get the picture – they can not recreate the problem. Does appear to be IE7 based on LL, lolo and LofF’s comments, which I have relayed backstage.
Let’s see now. We’ve got Rudy the front runner who pays his third wife to be his wife. Whose children are estranged from him. Who mentored Bernie Kerik (aka Bernie the K). And whose business dealings are a secret and profoundly shady, as the GOP front runner. This guy is starting to make John ‘the nut’ McCain look good.
Was everyone able to see the picture from Emptywheel’s post earlier today?
Felix Moronia @ 41
yeah, that stinks…. sorry ’bout that :~)
I see the Abu pic
Suzanne @ 47
Gonzales always looks like a Muppet to me. An evil, thuggish Muppet.
Suzanne, lolo, toolpusher et al — thanks (I’ve been on the phone) — I can see the pic from EW’s post with no problem.
Ok, let me rephrase that (laughing) for those who are running IE7 and having problems seeing the pic on this post and lew’s post – can you see the pic on marcy’s post?
Oklahoma kiddo @ 35
Of course they would. The question is will the Dems allow them to do it again?? Will we??
Why are Republicans afraid of gay marriage if more than half of the country don’t even have health care?
punaise @ 49
I always like to be able to see things using my mac OS and safari that the windows folks can’t see. (trying not to be smugly superior and failing miserably)
ccmask @ 54
Skewed priorities.
punaise @ 49
I see stupid people. Walking around like regular people. They don’t see sense. They only see what they want to see. They don’t know they’re morons.
Ok, I think we have figured it out. It is not anything that is fixable on your end. According to the tech guys – it is a glitch on our end – they started talking coding and other eye glazing over terms – but the bottom line is that we are working on trying to fix it on this end.
Thanks Suzanne! :-)
ccmask @ 54
Because they care only about wedgie issues, not things that would require intense efforts and actual governing. No glamour at all in doing those dirty things. Too hard to explain and doesn’t make for nifty sound bites to get on Bill Orallys show don’cha know.
Suzanne @ 47
I did but I can see the Tweedle Trio here too.
That pic reminds me of the Bowery Boys (Dead End Kids). Slip, Satch and Alfalfa
There is an episode of the Bowery Boys called “Dig that Uranium” and the plot reads: “Shifty” Robinson, a fast-talking shyster who dupes the boys into a uranium mine scheme.
Slip: Ah, you must be gaggifying me— the last time I saw Shifty, he was working in the street! He was a pitch man, he was sellin’ those automatic toys…
Alfalfa [grinning broadly]: Ah, that’s before I heard about the uranium boom… feast your eyes on this [he pulls out a wad of bills from his pocket].
Louie: Look at that bunch of cabbage! Let me see it a little bit… how much money ya’ got in there?
Alfalfa: Oh, I haven’t counted it lately. This is just what I carry around for pen [?] money. Yeah, fellas… as soon as I sell my claim, I’m off to spend my declining years in luxury. Havana… Rio… Gay Paree…
It’s a Tweesome.
Pin money references the emergency stash of cash you pinned inside your clothes so it would not stolen.
Yeah, I’m that old :)
Here’s a cool little news wrap up at Carpetbagger via TPM.
I particularly like what our Speaker has to say…
http://thecarpetbaggerreport.com/
Bill Moyers Journal is on…
I apologize for this OT but had to bring this over from MSNBC: Navy lawyer to do time for releasing names from gitmo. My government disgusts me more each and every day.
Hmmm – seems there aren’t many here in the Lake! Well, speaking of Twins – they are ahead of Milwaukee 8-1 in the 7th!
Now for the $10 million question.
Is there a video of them Gannoning a House Page Foley style?
Suzanne @ 47
Yes, can see that one. But I do only get a sliver on some. FYI-can see this one.
Balrog @ 64
Is that the name for little Balrog? Has little Balrog graced us with a presence yet?
LooHoo, you have mail.
Uh, BushCo sucks.
I spent a good hour this evening discussing politics with my 19 year old godson. He’s well read, but also gets a steady stream of MSM information. He had no idea of the madness of John McCain, nor did he know about Rudy’s multiple marriages (or reign of terror as AUSA of the SDNY), nor did he know ANYTHING about the Iran-Contra scandal.
We’ve got a lot of work to do before we can hope to restore the Republic.
dakine01 @ 68
I solved that problem long ago by simply being completely disgusted.
solai, it appears to be a glitch on this end – the backstage tech crew are working on it – has something to do with the coding or something. Appears to be just an IE7 problem.
Balrog @ 64
No tweesome in your home yet?
By the way I did a little research and figured out your e-mail.
ccmask @ 62
I’ll take the Dead End Kids to back me up in a back alley bounce any day over George, Dick and Karl. ;0)
dakine01 @ 72
No, now officially 5 days late.
I even went golfing w/o Mrs. today, thinking that would surely induce within 45 minutes. Nuthin’.
Maybe if I went to a bar with the boys?
KathieinMN @ 69
Yeah, but how did they do in the last 3 games before tonight? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 78
Oh, Gosh. I thought I was older than everyone and no one had ever heard of them. They were the best.
ccmask @ 81
there’s whole bunches of folks at the lake in their mid-fifties and beyond.
Loo Hoo. @ 77
No, Mrs. B thinks it’s perverted.
KathieinMN @ 69
In the BW Parkway series in DC, it’s 5-4 O’s over the Nats, bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, Zimmerman up…
Balrog, there is a pizza place in Danville (SF Bay Area) that has what they claim to be a labor inducing pizza. Anything like that in Middle Earth?
Balrog, YHM.
STTP in Ohio @ 80
They lost all 3 to Cleveland. Now THAT is embarrassing.
I can remember going to the movie house and they would show one after the other. Our parents would drop us off at 9:00 in the morning and pick us up around 3:00. All day.
I swear I will never utter the words Prsident McCain.
Eeesh…O’s win.
STTP in Ohio @ 80
Erm – let’s just say they are recovering from a bit of a 3 loss slump. I bet you knew that – and are just rubbing it in! Well, you just wait!!
This is the source of my frustration. I’m watching my country fall apart and I don’t feel I can do anything about it. Sure, I donate a small amount of money. And I worked for my Congressman. And I scream and shout trying to inform people of the latest outrage.
But, let’s be honest here,….big f’ing deal. We won last year and if we win again (especially the presidency), I’ll feel better.
But, I’m worried about what these criminals might do.
And, I sit here and watch them doing it and NOBODY seems capable of stopping them.
ccmask @ 88
I’d like to buy a vowel.
Balrog @ 92
You may – but you get no money for it.
Balrog @ 87
Don’t look now but Cleveland’s in 1st place.
What’s the embarrassment in that?
solai, you do so much. Your links here I always follow. It is frustrating to watch what the dems are doing, and the speed at which they aren’t doing it. I really think they have a plan. Some of these hearings are shocking and are being played in the MSM. Think of all the people out there who can speak to all of the criminal activity that’s gone on. There’s more to come. I’m hoping that the whole demise of this administration will come close to the end and that Bush can’t “grant” pardons. I want to see criminal penalties for criminal behavior. Am I Pollyanna tonight?
STTP in Ohio @ 94
Minnesota has used Cleveland to win 4 of the last 5 Division crowns.
STTP in Ohio @ 94
I’m pretty sure there’s something about that in the Book of Revelation.
Loo Hoo@95
In a word: NO!
KathieinMN @ 90
Yeah, I did. But I’m rubbing it in good naturedly. The Twins have owned us until last year.
The netroots has got to keep on asking Rudy about his views on abortion. This from Fox: “Many pundits have pointed out that the Republican front-runners all have problems with some parts of the constituency,” says Opinion Dynamics Chairman John Gorman. “While abortion ranks relatively low, for example, Giuliani’s various statements on the issue may have made Republicans, who care more than Democrats, take a step back. They’re not necessarily turning ‘anti’ but they aren’t going to close the deal without some more shopping. This is true on the Democratic side as well, though their issue is more choosing among a set of candidates that they like.”
Also from the Fox Poll:
Do you approve or disapprove of the job Congress is doing?
Gop 25%
Dems 41%
Joe’s Party 30%
WARNING: PDF
KathieinMN @ 93
LOL Is the vowel the E I missed in Prsident McCain
Balrog @ 79
well, fwiw, I went into labor with my oldest after spending an afternoon vacuuming the house and engaging in an, er, spirited argument with mr. oddmommy. Not that I would recommend that to you and your Mrs.
ccmask @ 101
Wll, ys.
I drank a virgin Pina Colada and I went into labor. I haven’t stopped the labor yet. It was 19 years ago.
Balrog @ 96
Fair enough. What’s the record this year?
ccmask @ 101
That’s it! (you get no money either!)
oddmommy, let me add that i also turned into a compulsive cleaning hell on wheels during the day of the evening that i went into labor. both times.
oddmommy @ 102
Hell, we’ll try anything at this point.
What is Mr. OddMommy’s telephone number?
STTP in Ohio @ 105
I believe this may be Cleveland’s year.
Balrog @ 103
AAHHH! ccmask, you said prsident McCain after you promised you never would. I made a solemn promise not to after your good idea, and now my hero has let me down.
Suzanne @ 107
I cleaned a lot when Ms. Filbert had her little ones.
(or she would have eaten the afterbirths)
EvilDrPuma @ 97
I should expect nothing less from someone with “Evil” in their name.
No, the Cavs making the Eastern Conference finals tonight should certainly be in there.
Balrog @ 109
Dem BoSAWX might have a little something to say about dat (since my reds are stinking up the joint again this year).
dakine01 @ 113
Oh I dunno, I think the Nats still own the worst record in baseball :-(
Hi Suzanne at 52; I can see emptywheel’s picture but not Lew Koch’s.
McCain, last night in Midtown Manhattan:
We are the party of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and we’re going to get back to being so and that means less government is the best government,” said McCain.
and then he said 911 911 911 911
I can’t imagine any more chicken s**t mother fu****s than Karl, Dick and George. Is there a way to be more concise?
Maybe if I went to a bar with the boys?
That one worked for me. That’s the good news. Watching the entire C-section birth with a hangover – um, not so good.
Skeptic @ 115
Are you running IE7? It appears to be a problem with just that browser. Tech crew is working on it.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 117
I think you said that rather well ;-)
Oklahoma kiddo @ 117
Quite consise, and cheers!
kirk murphy @ 111
Sometimes you feel like a nut.
Suzanne @ 107
With the little one, I was cleaning the goddamn crib and insanely determined to get it done before we went to the hospital. Almost had the baby at a red light.
KathieinMN @ 69
There are more here than you realize…
carry on…
and Balrog, second son was seven days over and popped out after a banana split
something will tweak the hormones soon
BALROG’S HOT TONIGHT!
Must be a paternity omen.
Suzanne @ 107
have an aunt who had six… six cleaning days followed by six deliveries…
oddmommy, with my first, i refused to let my next door neighbor in because she had an open beer bottle in her hand and i didn’t want it stinking up the joint.
i was definitely in touch with my inner bitch that day. i apologized to her later.
Anyone want to predict an arrival date for baby Balrog? I say Sunday.
I’m not complaining about the dems (although, I do wish they’d pick up the pace). My complaint is that we see things going on that are wrong and nothing is being done.
In just the last few weeks:
-soldiers can’t email freely. Everything to be reviewed.
-no photos showing bombings in Iraq
-some city (sorry, can’t remember which) is using a curfew ‘to curtail violence’
-Michael Moore rep is saying that the US is trying to confiscate film.
-Andrew Card’s cousin is speaking out about imprisonment due to criticizing govt. (don’t actually know about that one yet)
-the repub candidates want to torture and imprison without restrictions. And they get applauded.
-Tim Griffin is STILL USA and nobody is getting him out of there.
-The whole Comey thing. And Abu is still running our Justice Dept.
-the Padilla trial shining a light on the abuse but nobody in MSM is talking about it.
-Very few in MSM are talking about Comey. Media matters said ABC and CBS had not yet mentioned it.
Did I leave anything out?
It’s happening right before our eyes.
And I feel f’ing helpless.
njr @ 124
Cool.
Wish I’d seen that on my ob-gyn rotation.
LoudounLib @ 128
Saturday at 11:00 PM-Balrog time.
ccmask@88
“I swear I will never utter the words Prsident McCain.“
No worries, none of the rest of us will ever have to either, vowel or no vowel.
I’ve got a better chance of becoming pres. than he does.
Loo Hoo. @ 125
Balrogs are warmish by nature.
Loo Hoo. @ 131
Hey, that’s Balrog-Blankie Time!
Please revise to a more reasonable hour.
You know what? I’m not going to drag anyone down. I’d rather enjoy the upbeat chatting. So, don’t even respond to my comment. We’ll enjoy thinking about babies tonight.
solai @ 129
Forgotten where I saw it but somewhere today I saw that the day after the DoD blocked access to YouTube, they sent out a message telling the troops to check the DoD channel on Youtube.
You can’t make this sh*t up.
Solai, I wanted to respond, if only in a spirit of commiseration :-(
Balrog Baby – Monday 4pm Balrog time.
Balrog @ 134
Balrog is this numero uno? If so, think something along the lines of 2-3AM! Dem babies don’t know nuttin’ about convenience and YOUR wishes and needs.
solai @ 129
I know where you’re coming from, but git yer popcorn ready. I’ve got a feeling Monica is gonna deliver the goods next week.
dakine, funny you should say that — I’m the oldest of my siblings, and I made my entrance at 0324 ;-)
McCain doesn’t stand a chance. Iraq has pulled him so far down it is impossible to save him. Rudy has a whole lot of baggage, for the Dems & the Gop voters. The only way I can see either one making it is if they band together and share the ticket. But Rudy doesn’t like to share, unless he’s handing out donuts to emergency workers to make up for the air they are breathing.
Suzanne @ 138
I should point out that due to the miracle of IVF (In-Vitro Freakiness), we know the EXACT time and date of fertilization.
So when I say we are 5 days late, we are 5 days late.
Pool resubmissions acceptable.
STTP, hope you’re right about Monica delivering the goods. Do you know when she testifies?
solai @ 129
We all feel helpless.
Hi Suzanne at 52; I can see emptywheel’s picture but not Lew Koch’s.
Are you running IE7? It appears to be a problem with just that browser. Tech crew is working on it.
Yes, I’m running IE7. I knew no good would come from getting a legal copy!
solai @ 135
How about baseball? Twins won! Hey Balrog – is this your first bambino? If so, you should know that babies do not arrive at convenient times – usually daddy’s blankie time (and mommie’s too!) Both of mine also chose to be 7 days late. Continued a late time frame most of their early lives.
Suzanne @ 127
But Suzanne, fine cannabis stands up to the most robust microbrews.
(so I’ve been told)
Everyone seems sorta depressed tonight so I thought I would quote Archimedes
“Give me a lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth.” The Constitution is our lever, FDL is our place to stand so lets get busy.
I stand by my Monday 4pm. Labor will start Sunday nite. Just my hunch.
Loo Hoo. @ 144
I think Olbermann said Wednesday. Gotcher popcorn?
dakine01 @ 139
This is numero seis. It’s why I’m not freaking at all.
That said, take that 2-3AM elsewhere, Mr. Man :)
gonna have to aim that late nite cannonball i promised so the splash gets kirk (plotting trajectory)
TeddySanFran @ 151
Can I call in sick on Wednesday?
in re: my comment 136, I knew I’d seen it before, from HuffPo.
Shit, TSF, I haven’t had popcorn yet on any of these hearings. But, I do have over a year’s sick leave. I feel a virus coming on.
solai, I understand the frustration. Part of the problem is that there are SO many problems that need to be addressed. We only have one congress, and they’ve only been in office for a few months… and look at what they’ve unearthed. I think there is two things at play here – one, so many scandals and outrages that need to be addressed… and two, we learn so much information about new scandals or outages every day – things that were hidden from our knowledge just because the gop was in charge.
I think we need to be a little patient and remember that the Watergate scandal didn’t result in Nixon’s impeachment in a matter of four or five months – it took a long time to unravel the threads and expose the evidence. The Democrats need to be very focused and very, very meticulous in researching and documenting, gathering plenty of evidence on the most secretive administration in US history. Nixon didn’t have Rove or plants in the MSM, didn’t have the MSM owned by big corporations that are beholden to the Republican party. That means it will take time to see real change happen.
Just think of how much change has happened in just a few months, when the Republicans controlled Congress for 12 years.
Think about how many bush admin officials have resigned in disgrace just over the past few months! Think about how many more of them are under investigation. Think about how the President and his minions can’t willy-nilly do whatever they want anymore, because there finally is oversight.
When you think of where the American public was just six months ago, it actually is pretty amazing to realize how more people are engaged, more people don’t trust the President or his enablers, and more people respect the Democrats. Imagine where we’ll be in another six months. Hopefully, by then we’ll have lots of evidence of the illegal activities we suspect.
When I get frustrated, I try to remind myself that several congress members in my state can be influenced by voters. I try to hold the Democrats feet to the fire (right now, I’m trying to figure out how to ask Levin about his priorities and recent vote against Feingold/reid), and I really remind the Republicans that they are an endangered lot – they had better change their priorities to put the people of their district before the President and their political party. Sometimes it feels like I’m banging my head against a wall, but sometimes I see that when many of our voices come together, they do listen.
There are only so many things that can be changed at once. Change will feel slow, especially when we get more news of more things to be outraged over. Keeping focused on the truly illegal activities of the President, VP, and AG is a good idea. bob in HI had some terrific ideas a few threads back on how we can gather information on the top three most impeachable offenses by these men… check it out. (If I can figure out how to get you a link to that thread, I’ll post it in a few).
Balrog, I don’t think you meant to say #6.
Balrog @ 152
Well, I was tres of tres and came along at 6:59AM on a Sunday morning in June. The double nickle is coming up in 3 weeks.
For what it’s worth, I always heard that really great sex can induce labor.

Yeeees. That is generally true for approximately the first 18-20 years of babyhood.

Which is one of the primary reasons I’m single and childless at my semi-advanced age. Although I would put it out to 25 based on what I’ve seen from friends and cousins.

Busted!
Sorry TerryLooHoo, I forgot to tell you I was a polygamist.
Yeah, that’s it, a polygamist.
I meant quatro.
Bill Maher’s on. My daughter and I have tickets to go see him in July. Now there’s a night that will be fun.
Nobody make any Romney jokes right now.
Loo Hoo. @ 156
I’ll write your sick note if you’ll write mine!

Giuliani Blogger Conference Call
At 1:30 p.m. today, Rudy Giuliani held his first conference call with bloggers (there have been other Giuliani campaign calls, but, as I understand it, this is the first one he’s talked to personally).
snip
Some Highlights:
“I thought it covered a full range of topics, and I would urge the Democrats [laughs] to do a debate on Fox. Maybe they shouldn’t run away from it so much. They might find that they’ll be able to explain their positions at somewhat greater length. And I hope this becomes the pattern for the future debates.”
On his drop in the polls since February:
“I don’t really pay attention to polls, except I did notice yesterday I was at 38% in the one in the Wall Street Journal [laughs].”
On Ron Paul:
“The last time I heard something like that, it was the press release the Saudi prince put out after he gave me the $10 million for the Twin Towers fund.”
The technique that was being described last night [water-boarding] would not fit into the category of torture.”
I wonder what blogs???
Is this Late Nite without Trex??? Well, time for me to say nighty-nite anyhow. See y’all tomorrow. Do we get to pull up a chair without Redd? )-:
I don’t know Kathie. I hope she’s at the Saturday morn table.
and of the free: Thanks for that. I feel better!
I was off for one of Abu’s days of nothingness.
Missed Comey and MUST work next week when Monica’s on.
Who am I kidding? Next Wednesday, I will pile papers all over my desk for camoflauge….have pen in hand….log on…..and refresh, refresh, refresh.
Land of the free, I meant. My damn L key sticks a lot.

Right-o, and don’t get me started on Romney the Hunter. All of their top candidates are jokes, and I mean to their own party.
This is why I say Thompson will get the nomination by default. Once again someone from the land of make believe will be their best option.
Don’t forget that Newt is waiting in the wings.
Three front runners.
One’s a “cult member” according to the religious right.
One’s a free thinkin gay lovin- abortion friendly guy who let his wife know he was a gonna divorce her by having a news conference.
The last keeps repeatin his speeches as if he’s never heard em before- and quit buyin green bananas years ago.
Nice group.

****
What I think about is all the people who are dieing in the ME while so many in our government prance around like unmitigated twits. More Dead People. Every Damn Day. More Dead People. Our great country is responsible for so many of them. And our Congress can’t quite seem to bring themselves to tell jr ‘NO.’ Stop it as quickly as we can while bringing our troops home as safely as possible.
And now there’s this massive piece of nonsense purporting to solving the problems of illegal immigration. I do hope there are at least a few Dems who take the time to wade through the whole miserable thing.
Newter the Newt
Yep. Newton Leroy Gingrich is going to roll out the clown car in September.
He’ll claim that he was forced to run by millions of desperate Republicans in need of a new, real daddy.

And, landofthefree@157
Well put!

Suzanne. re my comment at 182. only the last 2 paragraphs are mine. can you insert some hashmarks or something to delineate the break. I tried inserting extra empty lines, but that didn’t work.

“Roll out the clown car…”
Hilarious!
Skeptic @182: when I think of all of the soldiers and civilians, all of the innocent lives that are being lost every day due to our invasion and occupation of Iraq, it makes me very sad. Sometimes it motivates me to do more, but often it just depresses the hell out of me. How can our leaders be so callous and uncaring to let these people be slaughtered for no good reason, when there is no clear objective defined? It’s really heavy on the heart.
When it makes me down, I just think of how the people who volunteered to be in our armed services did it so that I have the freedom to speak my mind, the freedom to tell my elected representatives what I believe is right and important. If I just sit back and feel sad, I’m not honoring their service properly.
KathieinMN @ 33
I was going to ask what the f*** was up with MN. It’s always seemed like such a great state, except for that little lapse when they elected Jessie, and then there’s that slight problem with Carpetbagger Norm.
Really, though, how is it that these Neanderthal Republicans sneak through?
ccmask @ 88
Oooh, me too. Old Farts Forever.
thanks for this, PW. I hope the laker’s from the other 49 can feel some of our pain. Here comes the:
