Think about it! No one can claim the moral high ground while wrestling in a pit filled with skanky cole slaw. Best to stay out of the pit while criticizing others for low, non-rational, and nasty behavior.

naaaah, Judy rocks! she/PBS deliberately set that one up to show what kind of pressure our congresscritters are getting from wingers of both sides. So whose fault is it Soltz was as much a gentleman as could be expected, and Morgan, welll, did her thing? I was half expecting Miz Judy to say, ‘calm down kids, this ain’t F*X you’re on’.

Before he came to the PBS position, Getler WAS the ombudsman at the WaPo. They know him quite well, and the serious journalists there probably miss him.

Getler begins this column with comments on “Bill Moyers Journal” and about midway through he writes (my emphasis):

Now, there is no doubt that this segment was set up to hammer away, and if you are a Bush administration supporter you are not going to like it and it will seem unfair. On the other hand, nobody else in the press seems to be doing much these days in terms of fact-checking and challenging administration statements in a prominent, detailed and timely fashion and, in my view, Moyers is providing a public service because these contradictory statements need to be heard because war is a factual and not a partisan matter. The administration gets to make its case virtually whenever it wants to.

Once upon a time I would have imagined Getler’s former colleagues at the Post would have to have noticed that, but these days who really knows? The Posties, by and large, barely seem conscious enough to roll over and pass gas. Still, maybe some of them were paying attention and told the others will mention it in a book years from now.

God only knows who’ll tell the Times.
